  6. There is no guarantee whatever species of bird you get that it will be your companion in afraid,it just dosent work like that .Cockatoos are very demanding birds & the main one that is always coming into rescue centers for re-homing, so please read up as much as you can on them.Timnehs are great little birds, mant members here own them.Im sure others will offer you their advice.
  7. To be honest im not 100% sure, they are related to apples and pears,so i would have thought so but please dont take my word.i'll see if i can find out anymore.

  12. Non-fat, plain yogurt in moderation is a good source of protein for parrots, once every now & then definitely not twice a week It is important for greys to have a good natural calcium source in their diet. Dark leafy greened vegetables have a high calcium level and should be offered alongside a pelleted/ seed based diet.Foods included in this group are.. Beet Greens Broccoli Leaves Broccoli Stem Cabbage (outside green leaves) Celery Chard Chinese Cabbage Collards (cooked) Dandelion Greens Endive Kale Kohlrabi Lettuce Dark Green Leaf Mustard Greens
  13. The only true 100% method to sexing a grey is A DNA test.Only a very very experienced breeder could hazard a guess with years of knowledge under their belt, there are visual clues & as Berna said you kind of get an eye for it,but DNA is the only fool proof method.
  14. Thats great that he likes his baths.I use tepid/lukewarm water for my flock so thats fine. Some owners do use a hairdryer on a low setting, personally id rather let mine dry naturally & while their feathers are wet they tend to preen more
  15. Phoenix Rio Sammy Kai Thats all i can come up with Caroline off the top of my head
  16. Hi liefie1 ,i know you have read through the hand feeding post in the nursey room, if you encounter any problems you can post in there or drop me a PM Also have a read through the associated risks of handfeeding in the Nursery.
  17. Your very welcome Any help you need just give me a yell
  18. Try presenting the pellets in a different way.You can grind them up a little & mix them in with perhaps a little scrambled egg,or really grind them to a fine consistency & sprinkle over the veggies or whatever foods your grey loves ,be cunning
  19. Congrats on homing Gracie,we look forward to hearing all about her
  20. Hi Yvette & Welcome to the forum. We look forward to hearing more from you Any luck in booking a vets visit to sort the mite/flea problem ?
  21. Katie your be surprised how much they notice, there very inquisitive creatures Im glad April accepted your painted nails As Siobhan rightly says any change in hairstyle is enough to freak a grey out
  22. Im with She on this one,There is always an underlying reason for such a change in behaviour & the onset of plucking.First step is a complete wellness check with your avian vet. If you do a search in the search box at the top of the page it will bring up previous threads on plucking/picking feathers which all will be worth a read
