CD, would you take pictures of Ceasar with the Aviator on? (I'm sorry to ask, I know you absolutely HATE taking pictures... =P ) I have Feather Teather, and I'd like to see the difference and hear from you how Ceasar reacts to it. :cheer:

Amazing... Vinnie sounds just too adorable. I may have to get a vasa some day. I think Jacques enjoys seeing me have to stop what I'm doing to clean up his poo. We took him up to the marina where we keep our boat today. Started out on the harness but he just won't have that, so we put him in his travel cage and then he started to enjoy himself. He just does not like to talk on cue, hehe. I couldn't click/treat for any good behavior today because all of the excitement made him uninterested in any food, I only saw him drink water once, and the only food he took was one plain goldfish cracker. It worried me a bit but I figure, he obviously knows it's there so he can't be too thirsty/hungry... does Vinnie still seemed interested in food when you take him outside?
-
He would not taste one bit, unsuprisingly. Oh well, I enjoyed it. =P ...Jacques just ate a peanut shell... He'll eat the shell of a peanut but he won't try Odwalla.

I officially don't like Harry Potter just because as it is most of my friends are away at camp or on vacation or getting ready for college, and now the ones who WERE around are off in their own little worlds of Harry Potter and I have no one to play with... So I'm gonna read some Tamora Pierce books. =P

Aww... very cute. Do you still plan on getting a grey?
-
It should work for any type of bird. I wouldn't know about sites to order online, I looked for one online but they all came with a dvd or had expensive shipping so I just went to the nearest pet shop and picked one up. It was made for dogs, but same thing. If you want to quiet your screaming grey, click when he stops screaming and becomes quiet. Then give the treat. He will learn that *quiet* is a good behavior and sometimes even gets him a treat. :3

I bought some Superfood yesterday, Jacques didn't get any yet because he was being a nasty little sneak when I tried to take him out to let him taste it. I'll let him try it today and let you know what he thinks. =]

Jacques hasn't figured out how to get out of his cage. There was one time when I thought he had, but it turned out to be my little cousins- At one point while they were visiting (Jacques's cage was in temporarily in my room at that point) I walked into my room to find him sitting on the little door that opens up to become a perch. Thankfully he was still sitting there... And then after that I walked in to find the lock on his door open, but he was still inside. Of course my cousins never fessed up, but it didn't happen again after I gave them a good talking to. Your bird may not open his cage, but watch out for young relatives. :silly:

Ohh I see it. Very nice... I'll look for that book! I've always wanted to try and build a nice big playstand for Jacques, since the ones you can buy are SO expensive. Thanks :side:
-
We've never owned a dog but back when we had a cat Jacques would meow at him when he walked by... my mom once had a dream that the cat started talking because he was jealous of the attention we gave Jacques for speaking...
-
Aww, so cute. I like how she's being quiet, but you can hear a bunch of other birds in the background. That's an interesting looking [playstand?] Do you have a picture that shows the whole thing?
-
I like Jacques because it means "one who supplants" and "supplant" is defined as "To usurp the place of, especially through intrigue or underhanded tactics." And, if I get him DNA tested and he turns out to be a girl, I can change it to Jacquelle, which has the same meaning, and I can still call (her) jack for short. Wow, how do you even begin flight training?
-
Huzzah! I'm excited. I wish I had more recent photos of myself and Jacques. But we'll have to wait until the humidity goes away for that. Nobody benefits from the sight of my hair in the summertime...
-
I like to use the hose on jet mode. :3
-
Jacque's about 4 now and I'm 16, so I suppose we'll both be getting wrinkly around the same time, provided we both make it that long
-
That's an amazing video, I just watched it twice in a row. I'm gonna have to start teaching Jacques his colors... hehe.
-
Aww din din for Vin Vin, perhaps I should start snacks for Jacques. lol:laugh:

Hey celery, glad to know someone who's also tryinng this! I haven't been training Jacques (yeah everyone, I decided to change the spelling. On facebook, Jack is the second most common bird name. No no no. At least now it's not exactly the same =P Plus, I am at least partially from France...) because I didn't have any treats he could eat quickly enough, but my mom picked up some plain cheerios today and I'm going to try them out tomorrow. I haven't actually bought a book, just used tips I found on the net. Let me know if you find the book helpful, perhaps I'll invest in one. I've been using an emory board as Jacque's target stick. =P

Aha! I will be very careful. It's the last ingredient, so I think a bit won't hurt him, but I won't give him too much. Thanks for the tip. =]
-
I will. I was just reading something on parrot nutrition and saw the stuff on spirulina and barley grass and I was like, "Hey! I eat that too." haha:laugh:
-
Awesome. I'll tell my mom to pick some up next time she goes to the grocery store. =]

Here's something I found on bioflavonoids... "Bioflavonoids, or flavonoids, can be found in the pigments of fruits and vegetables. Research has shown that about 1 g of flavonoids are consumed daily, mostly as glycosides. Flavonoids demonstrate potential antimutagenicity ability as well as antioxidant activity. Recently, studies have taken a look at flavonoids role in the prevention of carcinogenesis, as well as in the maintenance of capillaries. Bioflavonoids are an important part of the daily diet. They function closely with Vitamin C and it is recommended that the two are consumed together." I would assume it would be fine... The dictionary defines dulse as a coarse, red, edible seaweed; or as an edible red algae. Here is a link to its "nutrition facts": http://www.grandmanannb.com/dulse.htm

The water bottles are easier and cleaner, but if Charlie likes to splash around and bathe in his bowl then you might want to let him keep it. I always take too long to post.<br><br>Post edited by: Tricky, at: 2007/07/19 22:22

Superfood is a drink by Odwalla that I happen to love, I figured it would be good for Jack because it has Spirulina and barley grass, which I read are very good for parrots. Do all of these ingredients look okay for greys? I'd like an excuse to buy some more. =P * Apple Juice * Peach * Mango * Strawberry and Banana Puree * Spirulina * Soy Lecithin * Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) * Wheat Grass * Barley Grass * Wheat Sprouts * Jerusalem Artichoke * Lemon Bioflavonoid * Nova Scotia Dulse It's tasty, I swear.

That seems like a simple way to do it, but Jack's chest feathers have been growing back nicely (he had been picking at them) and I'd hate to just pluck a few out now. =P Maybe I'll do that when they've grown in more perfectly.
