  1. Welcome and congratulations in getting Herbie. We do have a few members here from the UK that hopefully will chime in with some places near you to find parrot toys and supplies.
  2. Perhaps a large city like anchorage would have a few pet shops and maybe knowledge of breeders or rescues they could put you in contact with? It certainly wouldn't hurt to call and see.
  3. Jay gave a good list of sexual behavior signs. Yes, just ignore it. You can talk to them, just do not touch them while this behavior is being performed.
  4. Jesus, are you starting a petting zoo?
  5. Watching Salsas video was a HOOT!
  6. What an interesting read. Humans for centuries before us self-medicated as well using plants, tree's herbs etc. Much of that knowledge has been lost unfortunately. But, there are still some tribes through out the earth that still have this knowledge and use it in their lives to maintain good health. I truly wish scientists would seek out and document all that is left before that knowledge expires as those tribes slowly disappear over time as new-age takes over this earth and loses knowledge that is eons old and priceless in my opinion.
  7. Congrats! The nice thing about B&G's is they are the big puppy dogs of the parrot world. Their size is intimidating at first, but you are going to be in for a huge surprized at the difference of Grey versus B&G personalities.
  8. Nice seeing you back and loved the photo. Jelly Bean, your family and friends will be your support system during this time (Of course we're here for you too) while your husband is deployed. You take care and when you do communicate to your husband, tell him we are thankful of his service to our country!
  9. LOL @ the kiss. Oscar was obviously taken back thinking "Did she just actually kiss my beak? I can't believ this... never again sister!" I love the Kiss sound competition.
  10. You need a proper adjustable lamp stand with enclosure/reflector that you can position properly over and at the right distance from your greys cage. I have done a ton of research on avian lighting and I am just advising you what I reccomend and also caution on. There is a lot of science and engineering in developing a correct lamp and setup for avian specific lighting.
  11. GreYt photos. Charlie is a fine looking Grey. Thanks for posting these.
  12. No, reptile lamps are not for birds at all. You need to get an avian light and stand such as: http://www.zoomed.com/db/products/Search.php?SearchID=2&DatabaseID=2&Keywords=Lighting&Heading=Avian&Search.x=13&Search.y=16 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/bird-supplies/lighting-bulbs-fixtures-timers/ps/c/5059/5690
  13. Welcome John and Charlie! It's GreYt having you here and we look forward to many more posts, photo's and video's when you get a chance.
  14. Escher sounds like such a loving sweetheart. You are both so lucky to have found each other. Keep the updates coming!
  15. GreYt link with that article Jay.
  16. Never had a bird with Scoliosis so I cannot weigh in on this. It sounds like, as Judy said, it is not stopping her from doing the things all greys do. Perhaps Dave007 will have some experience with this since he has been breeding greys for decades.
  17. LOL @ Oscars response to the parakeets sound volume. Sounds like a nice bright morning in the in the home with flock today.
  18. Sorry to hear about Pat's Back. Gabby is such a sweetheart in fretting over him.
  19. Nice photos of Escher. It looks like he knew exactly what he was doing when he chose you. Seems to be settling right in. Thanks for sharing these.
  20. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha - Thanks for the morning laugh Jay er I mean Joe.
  21. Welcome Sanveaz and Escher! It's GreYt having you here. Wow, talk about a grey choosing you!!! How has the homecoming gone? I hope you have time for updates, photos and videos.
  22. Welcome shell and grady. Congratulations on rehoming grady. The others have given good advice ontaking our time in building trust and letting her get used tot he new home and people. Her taking food from you is a good start right off the bat. At two she is very much a young grey and learning how to exercise her will and how to interact with the humans and their rules. Just enjoy her for now and let her come to you, not vice-verse right now as she settles in.
  23. Leonili - I wish we could help you further, but we are not avian vets. I wish someone here was, because we will do anything we can to help someone. Unfortunately, this is a case where true medical attention is required. It truly breaks my heart that you and your grey are in this situation. The only thing I can offer with no guarantee is to put a collar on your bird and apply a thin layer of neosporin or aloe to try and keep infections down and the healing process to begin.
