After he has greeted with his run around the cage and wolf call accompanied by his "happy dance" he comes out and just wants to be snuggled, scratched, kissed and praised. Then he plays all over the kitchen counter tops, play-stand and vocalizes every whistle, sound and murmuring he knows. After an hour or so of that, he goes in the living room and sits on Kim's lap, preens, snuggles and receives scratches until 7 or 730 and then starts fluffing and drifting off. That's when we return him to the cage and eats one last meal then goes night-night covered. Weekdays, when I work from home or weekends, he is out from the time we get up, until it's his bedtime, normally around 730. Even my Conure will become antsy, start screaming and finally just fly to his cage in the other room if we go past 730 too much. It sounds like Higgy has wonderful life with your Mother there and then the time he spends with you in the evenings and I would imagine more so on weekends. One thought on the screaming....if it is because he is tired and wants to go to his Cage, perhaps you could try just caging him earlier, say around 730 and see how that goes. :-) Most of us learn our Greys preferences through trial and error until we get it right. :-)
2. Hi Kelly, It sounds like it may have been caught in his throat or as you indicate, a little too full and excited :-) Just keep a close eye on his eating and pooing habits to ensure they do not change. Others will have some comments too, when they wake up. :-)

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/12/22 14:22
3. Welcome Jenny!!! We'll be looking forward to hearing more of Alex and perhaps seeing some photos when you get a chance. :-)

5. Thanks Kibibi, I wouldn't want a stoned Grey :woohoo:
6. Welcome Wasp!! As others, please tkae your Grey to a vet ASAP. :-)
7. Wow man, who needs to pluck when you have the munchies B)
8. Hahahahahahaha Great story Joanne!!! I would love to see a video of that :-) The mental image you painted was priceless :-)
9. Congratulations JNKIR!! It sounds like you are having a nice, but busy time of it :-)
10. Hi Terri, So far what you describe is just friendly "hey, I love Ya and am here", and that is what your Grey is returning. It sounds like they have developed a very good relationship so far. If your Grey was annoyed, it would be a quick snapping motion that Jiggy would alert from. Your verbal description paints a beautiful mental image of the two cuddling with you. :-)
11. ziggy wrote: Ziggy, We are a family. As you so well put, in your description of how all families emotionally relate to one another. It is both healthy and normal. We all learn and grow from it. :-) I know when I first joined back in May/June, I believe, that it was a nice atmosphere with caring and loving people just wanting to help a Grey Owner "Greenhorn" learn everything the books just do not tell you from: Fairy (The Forum Goddess) Ceasarsdad (Frank - The King) Talon (Penny - The Queen) JudyGram (Judy - The Princess) Tari (Tari - The Physician) MrSpock (Dave - The Logistician) DblHelix (Mark - Our Sorcerer and Alchemist) NevJoe (The Godfather) Beccy (Beccy - The Bird Trainer) ILoveMyGreys (Tracy - The Dietician) .....and all the others explained in detail how to bring Dayo along in all areas of food, health, training etc. They were with me when "Jake" escaped and I tracked him for 2 days thinking he was dead from 109 temps, but finally found and retrieved him. All the while, they were all there coaching Me and Kim on, with great ideas and encouragement. Then there are all the others here that I have come to love, value and appreciate over the past Months as they joined our Family. I will not list due to the length this post would grow to, but it includes ALL of you my Friends :-) and I do mean ALL!! Thank You all for being you and adding more personality, opinions, ideas, facts, interesting conversation, love, compassion and a Global unified atmosphere that is wonderful to be a member of and share our commonality with one another.

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/12/19 14:34
12. Hi Brendon, I can't be of much help, other than guiding you to a forum in Australia. That is full of members that live there and you could ask them for good breeder references: http://smileysbirds.proboards26.com/index.cgi?board=ForSaleWanted&action=display&thread=1154934673

20. Thanks for the reply Joe! :-) You take care and have a wonderful Christmas, New Year and fun with your family and grandchildren. That is life at it's best. Stay in touch when you can Joe. Again, best wishes to you from Kim and I... Dan
21. LOL Dave!! I always enjoy your spin on things :-) KatB - Yes, I commute to San Jose from Visalia when they think I "Must" be there to put out the fires or manage my ILL behaved staff at times ;-) I keep telling them I can verbally beat the staff over the phone, just as easily as in person ;-) It is an "Ok" commute though and I stay up here for however many Days each week my illustrious prescence "In-House" is needed. It all boils down to making the $$$ to pay towards the Support of the "Ruler" here.....Dave :-) He keeps the Women all busy cooking (amongst other things) and therefore they can not provide enough monetary support themselves. Terri - Just the sight of Jiggy makes me shudder  I thought Jake was BAD to the Bone B)

Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/12/18 14:26
22. Hi Bozz, What you are describing is normal as they are losing their baby down feathers. I assume what you mean is, for example when you are scratching his neck and you pull the feathers forward, you see bald spots. If so, that is normal and new feather will start growing in to replace that baby down. Our Grey displayed the same indications from about 5 Months to 6 1/2 Months old. Now, his neck Feathers are full with no Bald spots when pulling the Neck feathers forward at 8 Months old.
23. Hello Rae, Your Grey is acting normal when performing the baby jackhammer when hungry or maybe even just enjoying some intimate time with you. Even though they are eating an adult diet of seeds, pellets, veggies and anything else you wish to feed them. They will continue that baby feeding frenzy for a while. I would imagine if you actually prepared some baby formula, he might eat little, but probably none at all. We thought perhaps we should feed our Grey - Dayo, some formula maybe once a day, due to his continued jackhammering when he became hungry after being weaned for 2 Months. But, He would just gurgle it out and not want any at all. Then we would put him back in his cage and he would dive into the seeds, veggies etc. like there was no tomorrow. Hope this helps in answering your question. :-)
24. Good rule of thumb Judy, unless your a native Alaskan liviing in an Ice House ...Haven't had any fun ribbing you lately :-)

Favorite Cereal

Dayo does not care for Oatmeal. He loves scrambled Eggs with Palm Oil secretly mixed in. His favorite Cereals are: Honey puffed Oats, Cheerios and Hony Nut Cheerios.
