  1. I have been thinking of getting that particular one, maybe I'll order it tonight.
  2. Gimme a r, gimme an o, gimme a c, gimme a k gimme a s, what does it spell rocks, this place rocks. {Communicate-000200D5}
  3. Very nice photos, and I think you did well, when you see those things there you cannot help but be moved by it. Did you read the names inside the memorial?
  4. I thought the other place was a good forum but I just did not know any better. The other one has a serious attitudinal problem and a few of us here know exactly who I am referring to. {Characters-0002012E}
  5. Talon, you go girl. {Feel-good-000200BB}
  6. I agree with Talon, and let us know what you decide and feel free to pm me anytime, I will be glad to offer what I know.
  7. Probably the ones that sued because they got bit were jerks, people who have no respect for the feathered friends and this is what I say to you {Emotions-00020075}
  8. If you mean normal is boring then normal it is.
  9. My Josey will shake her head from time to time but not just when I say something. I think you are describing normal behavior but if you want peace of mind by all means have him checked out.
  10. Dblhelix gave you a lot of good information. Since it is not health related it could be jealousy since you introduced another bird into the flock. But most important is not reacting to the plucking. Another thing is maybe her skin is dry and that is irratating her. Just a suggestion.
  11. I put Josey to bed around 9:30 or so, she is usually already on her perch where she sleeps by then anyway. I uncover her in the morning around 6:45 to 7 am and she is already awake. I don't hear anything out of her until I uncover her. I give her a warm meal in the morning before I leave for work and put pellets and veggies and a few seeds, fruits in bowls in her cage for her to eat during the day. I get home around 4:30 or so and she comes out and plays on her playstand. She gets a little food off my plate in the evening. You don't have to adhere to a rigid schedule, in fact it is best to vary it some from time to time.
  12. Could be he knows his name or maybe he doesn't like his name and is saying no by the shake. Just kidding, but keep trying it to see if he keeps it up. Have you tried using other names or words to see if you get the same reaction?:unsure:
  13. I have purchased from bird.com, busybeaks.com and avianlove.com plus the ones that Monique mentioned. You can also buy baby toys that are safe for birds. And it can get very expensive but I love shopping for new toys.
  14. How sweet, and I love the cooing sounds doves make. Thanks, Spookyhurst for sharing this with us.
  15. Monique is right it is just part of the process.
  16. I have a sun conure that I got before I got my grey. She can be demanding but I don't think she gets stressed out like the greys can. Only you can decide whether you want one or not but if you do decide on getting one you will be rewarded with a lifetime companion.
  17. Hello Meghan and welcome to the forum. I would recommend you get the book "For the love of greys" by Bobbi Brinker, it has a lot of good information and will answer some of your questions on whether or not you should get a grey. A grey is not for everyone but they are a delight to own if you know what you are getting into.
  18. I remember Pearl Harbor, you can still see the oil coming to the surface from the ship that is underwater at the Arizona Memorial.
  19. She should be just fine, I have taken my grey for a 4+ hour ride one way and she did good. I use a collapsible travel cage for her and put a few toys and something to snack on and some water. It would be good for her if you can take her along.
  20. He may just be pushing you away like he does not want you to do that right now. Mine kind of puts her beak on me and pushes at me as if to say not now.
  21. Mickey is a good name for a grey. And welcome to the forum if I hadn't already said so.
  22. 25 years is not old for a grey, they can easily live 50 to 60 years or more.

    As one suggestion you could microwave a tiny bit of oatmeal with a little water then add some baby food to make a warm meal.
  24. Yes patience you will need patience. Another good book is "For the love of greys" by Bobbi Brinker.
