  1. Talon what brand and kind of humidifier do you use? And do you still use it in the summer when the air is moister? I am thinking of getting one for Josey as her skin is dry.:dry:

  3. I have 2 birds, a grey and a sun conure but they have separate cages. I got the conure first then the grey. I usually have one out at a time if I have them on my shoulder otherwise I have the conure on my shoulder and the grey on a playstand. The grey is content to stay and play on the playstand but the conure wants to be on me if she is out. I have had one on each shoulder but I am constantly on guard to keep one from going to the other side, the conure especially as she wants to nip the grey if she gets the chance. She was here first and she is jealous. I would love to get another bird but I only have 2 shoulders so will stick with just 2 for now.
  4. I would go with the bigger cage for even if he will spend most of the time out of it you never know when you will have to be away for a few days and he has to spend more time in it. I think mine is like 40 wide 26 deep and 60 tall so it has plenty of room. I have looked at those cages on that site you mentioned but only on the internet, I like the looks of them but they are too expensive for me.
  5. CD is right, some dander and feathers are normal. Didn't you know that greys have a dust about them, not as bad as some cockatoos do, but it is there. Also when they go thru a molt you will see lots of feathers and that is nothing to worry about either. Now like CD said if you see a lot of feathers and the ends are chewed like and you see bald places on them then you can worry about it. Hope I have helped.
  6. I am laughing so hard I can hardly type. And my bird mimics my laugh which if you could hear it would make you think I was laying an egg. I have had people say I have a distinctive laugh and some people love it and a few don't, but what do I care, none, it's their problem not mine.{Feel-good-0002006E}
  7. Hello Number6 and welcome. So glad you joined the ranks of the grey members here. We look forward to hearing more about Gina. I love the second photo, that looks so sweet.
  8. Tomorrow is a brand new day and maybe he won't have that crease in his shorts.:lol: :laugh:
  9. Darn it, Penny I thought we had a deal. But you are right we will never leave Cd alone ever, never.:laugh: :evil: :laugh:
  10. Well good for you Deedee if mixing it with the seeds and she eats it to get the seeds thats good. Keep offering her the fresh and she may surprise you one day and eat that too.
  11. I'm looking forward to this.:cheer:
  12. Yes FairY patience is the answer here. Something to do with a washing basket or something similar has frightened her and it will take a lot of time and patience but I think you will win her over in the end. Keep that basket out of her sight for the time being and work on getting her trust, don't give up on her it may take months or even longer so don't push her or force more on her than she can handle. She'll come around in time.
  13. The poop tells the story, I am glad things are going well for you and your bird.
  14. She could do a lot better I believe, tell her to go for it Talon.
  15. Yeah there is always that possibility that they could bite which is why a lot of people don't recommend to let them up on your shoulder. Your face is too close if they do decide to bite. I don't know if they could actually take a finger off but they can certainly take a chunk of flesh off if they so desired. I currently allow my grey on my shoulder, she is still a baby at 1 year of age, but I am on the alert for suspicious behavior that may indicate a bite and if I decide it is too much of a risk I won't allow her there anymore.
  16. I used to wear my hair long but once I cut it short, short I can't stand to feel it on my neck so it gets cut often. Long hair on men, it depends on the man some can get away with it and some cannot. I believe CD gets away with it.:lol:
  17. Thats great that they are talking so early, I am still waiting for clear words and she is 1 year old. You lucky guys, I'm jealous.:whistle:
  18. It was helpful to me Monique, and I know it will be helpful to Hwks1.
  19. That was so funny, thanks for trolling that for us.{Feel-good-00020069}

    curious

    I've never heard of it before and I can't check Josey's toes at the moment as she has gone down for the night.
  21. I don't think we mean to sound like all greys will be neurotic and vicious creatures. But greys are more independent than most birds and they can be prone to bite if not handled correctly. If you are serious about getting one read up on them, a good book to read is For the love of greys by Bobbi Brinker. If you understand what is involved and how to handle them you will find out what magnificent creatures they are and will be forever hooked. Only you can make that decision but make sure you know what you are getting into and if you decide to get one we are here to help you with any questions you may have. Good luck to you.
  22. I second what Snoozy said, no caffeine, no soda drinks.
  23. I wonder if CD has ever spent a whole day grooming his hair, I doubt it, but he has a way with words thats for sure.:laugh:
  24. I don't know which is sadder, what happened to the grey with the dog or the fact that the owners don't want it anymore.
  25. So you read the post I'm talking about?
