  1. I got the aviator harness the other day and I am going to try it this weekend so I can say WOW!!!! {Nature-000200C9}
  2. Brandi, a good first parrot for me was a sun conure. She is the sweetest thing and my constant companion. Conures can be very playful and comic. On the weekends sometimes I take a nap in the afternoon and she is on the pillow beside my face or my hair, I don't think she always takes a nap but she is quiet as a church mouse. But if you do the research like everyone else said and you decide the grey is for you then go for it and don't look back.
  3. Forget about youtube they are not worth the time. Get back to the greyt world.:cheer:
  4. I just love the babies.:kiss:
  5. They each have their own personalities so whether you get a Tag or a Cag you won't regret it, no way.B)
  6. You've got one smart girl there Spectre, they can be amazing creatures.
  7. Come one, come all in to join us, be a part of our happy family. :cheer: :lol: :laugh:
  8. We don't usually recommend you get a grey for your first parrot but if you have done your homework you may be able to handle it. How much reading have you really done? I would suggest you read each and every post on this forum for one thing. "For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker is another good book. I'm not saying don't get one but if you have your heart set on getting a grey and are willing to make the committment to a lifelong companion and give it the love and attention it requires then go for it. But make sure this is what you want to do and if it is you won't be disappointed if you give it your all. Good luck to you whatever decision you make and let us know if you decide to get one and we will help you all we can.
  9. I too am glad to hear Poncho is home safe and happy. I knew you would get him back and you will hold on to him tightly from now on.{Feel-good-000200BB}
  10. I think it is a good idea to change her name, I know I would if I was in your situation. A new home with a new name, start off new and fresh. I like either name as they are unusual at least to me, maybe they have a meaning I don't know. Give her all your love and be patient with her and she will be your companion for the rest of her life.
  11. You are one of the lucky ones Baby-grey.

    Biting my feet :D

    Has Talon ever actually bitten the strap so that it is broken? cause mine has. I try to distract her to keep her away from them but it can be tricky.:laugh:

    Biting my feet :D

    Mine will go after my bra straps and once in a while she gets a little skin in with it "ouch" and that hurts too.:blink:
  14. I have a small baby spoon that works well for this.
  15. Yeah watermelon would be ok and yes you have to be careful of fruit you buy to wash thoroughly to remove any pesticides used during growth.
  16. For Glinda2, do not give avocados, chocolate, raw onions, mushrooms, tea, coffee, any sodas, salt or salty foods such as chips, alcohol, apple seeds or the pits of peach or nectarines. There are some others but I cannot think of them at the moment.
  17. Oh my gosh I hope you find him and like the others said you will get him back, it may take a few days. Thats an excellent idea to put the cage outside with some food and water inside as he is likely to eventually find it and know he can get nourishment there. Keep looking and calling and I know at any time we will be alerted to the post that he is home, we have our fingers crossed and will say a little prayer that your beloved is back in your home again.
  18. Like you Number6 I put some under the door too as it is a favorite place to sit and chat.:lol:
  19. Hello Spectre and welcome to the forum. All greys do the chest quivering from time to time, not sure why they do it. She will bond with you but it will take some time so be patient. She can certainly learn new things, I don't think they are ever too old to learn. She should be getting about 60% of her diet in a good pellet with some vegetables and fruit with a little seeds and other treats with some table food. I share my evening meal with my Josey. I am looking forward to hearing more about your grey and maybe seeing a photo of her soon. By the way what did you name her or did she already have a name that you kept?
  20. I use newspaper too as we get the daily paper anyway. Its cheap and you can dispose of and change as often as you like, besides you can observe the color and consistency of the droppings on it to keep a check on their health.
  21. I have heard that 2 greys that were with each other from the time they were babies have a much better chance of staying in the same cage. Otherwise they probably won't get along but if you do get the other one what Tari said is true. Introduce them slowly and never push for more than they will allow, and I would never allow them close together without your close supervision. Maybe in time the can be caged together but you should be prepared to have them in separate cages if it does not work out.:unsure:
  22. My husband is pretty much the same way about my birds but he likes them just not like I do.:cheer:
  23. I like that name but it sounds more like a male name, but then mine's name is Josey and she is female.
  24. Hello Miltie and congrats on your new grey and welcome here. When they are babies they do look a little awkward but not ugly, they are so sweet and cuddly at this time. But soon it will have all its feathers and then you will be able to bring it home and enjoy it growing and learning. Are you going to have it sexed? Keep us posted as to the progress and get pictures if you can. I just love the babies.
  25. Welcome Lidia from Judy in VA in the USA. I know I would love to hear some stories you must have from your years with Joshua. We love to read stories about what other's greys are doing. I know I have a grey t-shirt collection with the holes and everything. And the earrings come off as soon as I get in the door unless I want them ripped from my ears.:lol:
