  1. I agree. Whoever thought up digital was a genius.
  2. Where can I sign up?{Feel-good-00020069}
  3. I second that Dblhelix, that book should be required reading if you plan on getting a grey. I heard some very good advice here in this thread so I don't need to add any more.
  4. Beautiful photos as always. Sorry about the crack about the birds not being real, they must surely be the tamest ones around, especially the one hanging by the beak, too funny.
  5. The second photo has real birds, but the first does not does it.:unsure:
  6. Hello Amy and welcome to the forum. We will do our best to answer any questions you may have. I am so glad to hear you are in love with your grey, may it stay that way. {Love-000200DB}
  7. Scented candles are a no no, I like them too but don't use them.
  8. Monique has added some fine advice that I didn't think of, just be patient it takes time to earn trust.
  9. I don't give my grey gravel and I have never heard of giving them gravel. I know chickens and turkeys need some kind of grit or oyster shell. So the vet didn't know either, he should be able to tell you whether or not it is harmful for them.
  10. Hello Dazdncnfusd, and welcome to the forum. He looks like a Tag not a Cag, which means the tail feathers are not as bright as the Cags. Sorry you got bit but it doesn't look like he broke the skin just bruised you some. He could have taken a chunk out of you if he wished. A lot of the greys will like women more than men and vice versa, so don't worry about that. Just don't react when he does bite or he will know that biting gets you to leave him alone. You will have to work on trying to gain his trust and it will take time so have lots of patience because you will need it. Use those things he likes as rewards for doing what you want him to do. Never punish him, they respond to positive reinforcement. Do some reading on greys, a good book is "For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker. It has a lot of good information and will answer some of your questions. But feel free to ask us anything, if we don't have the answer maybe we can direct you to where you can find it. Good luck with your new friend and keep us informed of your progress.
  11. I would put a call into your vet and ask him/her about eating the wood. It may not be harming him but I don't see how it could be good for him.
  12. I've heard some of the other grey owners say they talk only when they are alone that if they come back into the room with them they shut up. Mine is not too shy, she has gone thru her jibberish sessions with me present.

    potty training

    Sorry we kinda got off the topic, but it is not every day that one of the forum members goes to Hawaii. I have heard that some greys don't want to go in their cage, mine is not one of them, they don't want to mess up home. He should be able to hold it for a while until you can let him out as long as it is not all day.
  14. Nope, Anna wins hands down, sorry. But for the picture itself I give it {Communicate-000200D5}
  15. So cute looking, thanks for sharing. I'll be looking for an update soon.
  16. I've never heard of them actually eating the wood, are you sure he is ingesting the wood? I would think it would not be good for them. Maybe someone who is an expert can answer your question. I am stumped.
  17. Penny couldn't have said it better. A big fat stupid on your forehead. And ditto for another one Penny, Anna looks tougher than "Mr those signs are for dummies" man. Just glad you weren't killed now go get us some shots you don't have to risk life and limb for.
  18. You reckon he's trying to tell us something.

    Lack of sleep will eventually catch up with you and by the time he adjusts to the time zone it will be time to come home.{Communicate-000200D7}
  20. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've tried what you suggested, getting her attention and repeating a word or two to her. I'll let you know if it works or not. {Feel-good-000200BB}

    My Josey is a picky eater too, won't touch bananas.
  22. I guess that would be a little scary to come home and hear all those birds and think she bought out the pet store.{Feel-good-000200BB}

    foods

    Sounds like some good choices, except for the grapes, I have heard that grapes don't have much nutritional value.
  24. They are all individual birds and whether it is a Tag or Cag it doesn't make much difference. I think even though your mom works funny shifts if she wants one bad enough she can make it work.
  25. Lord have mercy, a bird sitter video, what will they think of next.:unsure:
