I highly recommend that same book, "For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker, another one I have and love is "The African Grey Parrot Handbook" by Mattie Sue Athan and Dianalee Deter. The latter is reasonably priced but the first one runs over $20 unless you can find a sale on it. You are so right, Kim, they can sense when we are afraid of them and they pick up on our emotions too. But the glasses don't help any I'm sure, Killer just does not like glasses so he attacks at Dan. He doesn't need to fear his bird and he should just forgetaboutit. Kim, I am not afraid of getting bit, I know it will happen soon enough, and I'm sure she knows how to bite, she just hasn't seen the need to get that across to me yet. I must be treating her right or just lucky, but whichever it is I will take it.

I'm sure you will have no problem, if you use it to start out with, Josey will step on it without the perch, in fact I had a problem getting her to stand on the perch on it.

Darn, Christina, I have no experience with hand feeding either, seems the only ones to post so far know nothing about it. I am not comfortable with hand feeding so I don't do it, I leave it for the more experienced, but you have fed a bird before so it couldn't be much different. But I am sure one of the ones who do hand feed will chime in soon and give you the answers you desire. Welcome to our family, looking forward to hearing more about your grey and get us some photos if you can, we love photos if you hadn't already noticed.

Right on, Michael, you don't put a new bird in close proximity to another bird for that very reason, But didn't she say that they have already been together and get along well, in that case they have already been exposed to anything either of them may be carrying so it would probably be safe to put them in the same room.
