  1. I think we should go with a Bon Jovi song, I know CD can pick a good one, he's heard them all for Christ's sake. :laugh: :silly: :whistle: B)

    Treat Question

    I would opt for no sugar added kinds of cereal, just check the nutritional label for ingredients.
  3. Dan, if you want Dayo to bond with the two of you then NO don't get the other bird, the two of them will bond to each other and you and Kim won't have the closeness with Dayo that I think you both desire. My opinion.
  4. Sounds like a well thought out answer, Loviechick, yes if you know your bird you make that decision, I don't do much walking around with Josey on my shoulder but I think I know her well enough to allow the shoulder thing. What works for me may not work for others.

    Avian Fast Food

    Same here as Beccy, Josey eats off my plate at the evening meal. She gets very little "junk" food as it usually is high in salt and fat. She gets pellets, fresh veggies and fruits, and a few seeds, some cereal and the morning baby food. She loves any kind of rice or pasta and of course cheddar cheese is a favorite.
  6. Can I third that, but I have tried to welcome each one personally if I can, and to repeat Number6's question, what took you so long. What do you like about the site and what could we do to make it more enjoyable for you? Let us know how we are doing.

    Treat Question

    Fruit Loops is a sugared breakfast cereal, use sparingly, I recommend using the shredded wheat biscuits, the small, no sugar added kind, Josey likes to tear them up but she eats some too.
  8. You are so right, Lidia, its about being with your bird, and when Josey is on my shoulder she has a perfect opportunity to bite me good as I turn to face her and look her in the eyes. She is higher up when she is on her playtop. I think it is important to look your bird in the eyes, not menacingly but making direct contact and she enjoys that. She can tell by my look that I am pleased and so is she.

  10. One for all and all for one, can't you get it right!!! {Emotions-00020060}
  11. Now that would be a fine picture of 3 pirates with eye patches. Yo, Ho, Ho, and a bottle of rum. Gar{Emotions-0002005A}
  12. Heather, I have the luxury of working for a very small company and I bring her into the office for the day, everyone loves her and she gets some extra attention. I recommend it for anyone who has a similar situation. I don't know what age children you teach but on another forum there was a teacher who took her grey to class for part of the teaching process and for the interaction with the children, don't remember what age group they were, but maybe I could find out.

    brown poo!

    Its hard Beccy not to get alarmed since these are our children for God's sake, but ya gotta love the concern we have for them.
  14. Thats my attitude too, Beccy, I don't want other people to do anything with Josey but talk to her, no poking fingers at her or getting too close, it makes her uncomfortable and I don't like it either. She still fluffs up some when my hubby goes to stroke her neck but she is not as bad as she used to be. In time I think she will learn to tolerate him better than she does now.
  15. Well Tari, you will be the first to see a photo of the damage IF and when that ever happens, I am prepared to live with it. Know you meant no real harm just a jest wasn't it?{Feel-bad-00020080}
  16. Ice, goggle aviator harness and you should see sites where you can purchase it, it is widely available.

    brown poo!

    Beccy, you are a worrywort, Josey's poops vary in color too depending on what she ate, the other day it was slightly red and that would freak you out but she had ate some fresh beets for dinner the night before and I at first was alarmed but then remembered the beets. LOL :ohmy:
  18. I am with you Lidia, even though my Josey is only 14 months old, she is allowed on my shoulder. She has never bitten me and as long as she behaves herself and comes down when I ask I will allow her there. She does not spend a lot of time there, maybe 15 min to half an hour a day is about it. Now my sun Conure, Sunny, spends hours a day on my shoulder, she just rides around with me whatever I am doing, sometimes coming down on my arm or on my chest hanging on to my shirt to see what I am doing and if she can get into whatever she can. I have never had a problem with her either, both of my birds are sweet little darlings. Its just a personal preference and if you don't feel comfortable with your grey on your shoulder then by all means do not allow it there. I may pay one day for allowing her that priviledge but it is my decision and I will live with it. :)
  19. If it was me I would gradually get her back into the schedule you have when you work, every day more and more time in the cage to prepare her for that day you return to work. Maybe get her some new toys or at least new to her toys to help keep her busy for that transition period. I know you have been loving it and I would too but you don't want her to stress out when you are all of a sudden not there during the day anymore. I work all year so I don't have that problem but I would love it if I could find something where I could stay at home and be with her more during the day. I have taken her with me to work before and she seems to enjoy that and me too. :)
  20. You got that right, Loviechick, sun conures can be feisty little devils, she is the one that will bite me and not my grey.:ohmy:
  21. He does enjoy the rain doesn't he, how adorable, he is a lovely bird to be that age and maybe even as much as 50+ years old. Too bad you didn't get a video of the dance, that would have been so cute to watch. Glad you enjoyed yourself even if it was not really a vacation, but glad you are back on the forum, a lot has been happening but I'm sure you will catch up on it soon enough. Thanks for sharing those pics with us, they are a delight to see.
  22. Connie, some greys do not cuddle and you have to accept that, but at least one of them will allow you more hands on touch so be grateful for at least that. Maybe in time Darla will come around, especially if she sees you interacting with Spanky. Keep us updated on their progress.
  23. Nothing personal against you Loviechick but here in Virginia we call 4-wheelers organ donors and I bet you can guess why. But I have enjoyed riding them also, just be safe on them is all, no daredevil stuff. I have flown over Oregon but have never visited there, although my hubby has hunted turkey in Oregon.
  24. Welcome Drewbake and Rebecca to our family and congrats on your new grey. She does need her feedings and if I was you I would be in touch with your breeder to make sure she is getting enough. Thants good the breeder is close by if you need him. Sounds like it is going ok for you and your little one, keep us informed of her progress and get us a photo as we love all greys but especially the babies, they are so cute.
  25. Hello, Chelsea, and welcome to our family, you have a nice bunch of birds and I love your signature line. I also have a sun conure named Sunny and she is a delight, as I'm sure yours is too.
