  1. Also when using the harness and a long flight leash, be aware of predators such as hawks and eagles that might prey on your grey while in flight, it does happen, sad to say.
  2. Sashagirl, for the most part, greys won't bond to humans as well if there are more than one but it is not the rule. You have certainly proved that some of them can be caged together and get along fine while still being friendly pets with you. I am glad you have such a situation that they all get along. I see you are a stay at home person and a lot of us have jobs outside the home so we are not there during the day to keep an eye on them if they were in the same cage. Plus you have more time to spend with your birds individually that we don't. I personally prefer the lone grey to be bonded to me and to each his own, but it works for you and that is well and good
  3. And that is always nice to be able to save some money, thanks for the compliment, we are just doing what we love and we love our greys.
  4. Well there goes that $300 bucks. Those are some nice perches, a variety of different sizes and materials.
  5. They are all very nice names, and I like Maestro or Hudson better than the others you mentioned. Now you have to wait for 8 weeks isn't it, or is it 6, I forget and I have had cats all my life, senior moment.
  6. Thanks, Kitty, I assume your name is Kitty since your screen name is RobertsKitty, am I correct?
  7. Yes indeed, you have a varying collection of very good toys for a grey, I have a lot of them already. Where did you find the net, that is something I have been wanting for my grey?
  8. The little escape artist, there is always one in the bunch, very cute little fellas and gals.
  9. Oh how delightful, she is regal, special, but you knew that already didn't you. Please post a pic of her eye so we can see it for ourselves, and did the vet know why her eye is like that?
  10. Lady, Lady, Lady, granddaddy longlegs are nothing to be scared of, I pick them up all the time when I see them. You and Tricky are so different, you like the big spiders like tarantulas but are scared of the small ones, I am only afraid of the ones that are poisonous, like the black widow.
  11. Cleavage, now thats a term I have not seen applying to a grey, but since you pointed it out, yes it does look a little like cleavage. Interesting, very interesting.
  12. I will look forward to seeing everything you have found to supply your new grey with all it needs. You are certainly preparing yourself with everything you need to know and have for this purchase, I just wish more people would do that, we wouldn't have so many birds in need of rescues.
  13. Toni, you don't HAVE to potty train your grey, but some of us do so we don't have that stuff running down our shirts all the time. Some greys won't poop in their cages, they want to keep them clean, like not pooping where they live, but if you get one of those, you will have to be dilligent about not leaving it in for a very long time or it could hurt him holding it all day. My Josey is happy to poop in her cage and that is all right by me, but when she is out on me I watch for the signals and hold her over a trash can and she will go in it. You don't need a special potty basket, any old trash can will work.
  14. Thank you for your compliment and for becoming a member and we like to think this is the best one on the internet, by far.B)
  15. I use a black sheet from Walmart, the king size, works good and then you can throw it in the wash when it gets soiled.
  16. Yes it was, and I don't know why I didn't recognize them for we have them come to the bird feeder all the time, LOL.

    new cage?

I'm sure he will enjoy it, and it will feel like home in no time at all.
  18. Those are tiny ones, Heather, if they got out you'd never find them, tiny but so cute, thanks for sharing them with us.

    new cage?

That one you got is similar to mine for Josey, is that where you got the idea for that particular one, I love it, it has that playtop lower than the other part of the cage so they are not up so high as when it is on top of the whole cage. Looks like a very nice cage, Beccy, and I'm sure Brian loves it too. :) :)
  20. The last cage is similar to the one I have and I don't open up the top of it, I let her play on the playtop on the side, she does not yet have any issues with being higher, but she likes to climb the toy hook. Any one of those cages would be good for a grey.
  21. I go with the latter, she doesn't growl, it is begging for sure.:cheer:
  22. Sounds like you have already made up your mind about this glass enclosed cage but some of the elements of this cage can be achieved with an all bar cage. Some of the members here do use a full spectrum light with an all bar cage and you can find cages with some storage space underneath the bird area, plus most cages come with a seed catcher on them. But birds are gonna be messy and the glass will get stuff slung on it too, so avoiding a messy area around birds is unattainable. And with the closures on cages now a lock is unnecessary with a grey, but once in a while one will figure out how to escape but not very likely. No we are not chastising you, you asked some questions and we have answered the best way we know how and that is what we are here for to help you make your decision and it is your decision, we throw in the advice for free.
  23. Those glass fronted cages are pretty to look at but Beccy is right, an all bar cage offers more areas for them to climb around on, and usually have bars going in both directions, horizontal and vertical, that exercise the feet more. This is just our opinion but you do what you think is best, it is your bird and you will make the decision as to what kind of cage you get.
  24. Ouch, I am glad they were able to get the foot back into place, but I know it was painful for her and I hope it is over soon. Maybe you can put a treat or something he loves into the cage at bedtime and see if he will go in more willingly, but he misses Mandi very much. Give Mandi our love and keep the updates coming.
  25. My sun conure, Sunny, does that all the time, she gets low and spreads the wings slightly and quivers ever so gently and she is begging for me to come and get her, and of course I do. Josey does it also but not to the extent that Sunny does. It just melts your heart to see them do that. But Sunny occasionally will back up to me and you know what that means, yes she may be in love with me too, so Talon, you may be right after all.
