1. I guess it will be a long day for you Tracy, why not spend some of it here with us. It is 1:18 pm and I am goofing off at work again.:blush: It has been cloudy here all day and I think there is rain in the forecast, we need it very much. It is warm, in the 70's but a little cooler at night, very nice weather for walking.:cheer:
2. Wow Connie, how much she has grown and getting prettier all the time, she is a lovely B&G, thanks for updating the photos on her, I love this thread, you can go thru and see how she has developed and I cannot wait to see her at full size.
3. I can relate to that, Josey does the same thing and it sounds exactly like a burp but I know she is not capable of doing that. I guess it is just them mimicing the sounds they hear us make, but it sounds just like an actual burp.:cheer:

new yummy treat

Dried sweet potato bits, hmmm that sounds good and since Josey likes cooked sweet potatoes then she should like those, will have to find some and try them, thanks birdgranna for the tip. Karma to you.
5. Do you have freezer space? If you do you can put the bulk of the food in the freezer and keep out what you will need to use in the next few days in the fridge. Putting the food in airtight containers will not kill them, you need to get some moth traps to catch and get rid of what you have in the house and throw out anything you have with the bugs in it.:ohmy:
6. That is so cute Connie, and you are right it would make an excellent Christmas gift for a grey lover. Thanks for sharing the link with us.
7. Hello LauraB, your baby is only 6 months old and yes she needs reassurance that all is well and you are nearby. You can call to her some to let her know you are near even though she cannot see you. When she flies down from her perch just put her back, you may do this thousands of times but eventually she will learn if you put her there then she is to stay there. I think as she gets older and more confident she will call less and less. She will become a little more independent and won't need that constant assurance that you are always in her sight. But also they like to be where the action is and if she thinks she is missing out then she will fly or come to you to find it. My Josey will come off her playstand sometimes to find me but I put her back and then she is fine. Laura, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about yourself and this new grey of yours. Thanks.

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2007/10/18 17:09
8. I am not really the one to be giving advice on handling a bite from your grey as mine has yet to really bite me, but I know you just have to do it. I will just grin and bear it when it does occur and it will, as she is only 17 months old, not into puberty yet. You don't want to show any reaction to a bite for they will continue with the biting to get that reaction. When they learn that biting you gets no reaction usually they will stop it. I think you are showing some fear and your grey is picking up on that, the others you are talking about have the confidence to put their hand in and let the bird step up. I'm sorry your grey is biting you but you must let him know you are not afraid of him and you may have to endure several bad bites before he stops it. Hope this helps, others may have better suggestions.

She likes cheddar cheese, most any kind of pasta, rices, popcorn and apples.

Well maybe you can teach Josey to like them, she does not care for pine nuts.

13. Yeah really I'd like to find a doctor like that, only charges $20. Thanks Dave for another good joke, we can always count on you for lots of laughs. {Feel-good-00020069}
14. The Mask of Zorro - Antonio Bandaras
15. Thanks Barbara for alerting us to this, I had not heard of this particular virus, I had Josey at the vet a couple of months ago and I will check to see if the vaccine was given to her. You are right, $40 is nothing if it means the life of your bird.
16. I just had another session at Curves and I feel great, I am amazed at how it is helping me and I try to walk at least 2+ miles a day on the days I don't go to Curves. I haven't weighed myself, I don't like doing that, but the next time I get weighed at Curves I will tell you how many pounds I have lost since I last weighed. I'm having baked chicken, mexican rice and carrots for dinner, yummy, and no dessert, bummer, but thats the way it has to be.
17. Thanks, Stephanie for updating us on this matter, and my heart goes out to you for Merlin, how sad he is in that situation. I thought you said in a previous post that someone at the bird shop was handfeeding him now and why can't they continuethe feedings for you. I know you are in a tight money situation but do you have any family or friends that could help out, I would do what I had to to get the help Merlin needs. I hope he is doing better after you see him tonight and I will be looking for an update then.
18. Tracy is a very special friend and sometime confidant, a trustworthy woman who brightens my day with her wit and sense of humor.
19. Thanks Dan for sharing that with us, I am laughing out loud at work since I am alone today, I can always use a good laugh. Always the same type though, must be partial to Doritos... {Feel-good-0002006E}
20. OMG, Cinlnk, that was absolutely beautiful tribute from one sister to her brother and AMEN to what she said. I am very proud of him also and I wish him the best of luck while he is over there and pray that he returns safe and sound next June. You have two very special children here in this brother and sister and I know you are proud of both of them, how lucky for them that they feel that way about each other for a lot of siblings don't. You have raised two good citizens of this country and I am very proud of you and hope your son comes home safe. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, we all need reminded of what some of our friends and family are going thru for our freedom and I appreciate each and every one of them. God bless them all.
21. Hello and welcome to the family, Scrohan, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock. And you do have the MBS bad don't you. I only have 2 birds, a Cag and a sun conure. That is so sad about your grey having surgery for a split keel, but it happens sometimes and I am glad he is healing and getting better. Please read thru our many threads on various topics for lots of useful information, we have many contributing members here that will help you in any way we can. I believe that you should remove your birds from that area, maybe even the whole house until the paint fumes have left for they are very toxic. The moths are coming from foods you have brought into the house, you need some of those traps and you will have to throw out what has them in it and replace those items. A lot of us keep extra foods in the freezer and keep immediate needs in the fridge. Other foods you may have to put in airtight containers to keep them out, but work on ridding your house of them. If you have pictures of your grey you would like to post please do so and we have another room you could put pictures of the others if you would like to post them also.
22. Glad you took your greys in to the vet and now they are on the road to recovery. Harrisons pellets are by far the best choice for greys and they should flourish on it. Hopefully he will gain some weight now and lavish him with all your love. I feel for you on the vet bill but it is something you have to do for the welfare of your flock.
23. How lucky for you BMustee, that you live where you can see such sights, it is too cold in the wintertime here for such sightings. Try to capture a picture if you see them again.
24. Its nice when someone wants to give you karma and tell you they did, but I give out a lot and I hardly ever tell the person I do it, I just do it and go on. But it is there for you to use and please do so, you can do it every six hours, so make someone happy and give them a hands up.
25. They call them the red factor in greys and it is a little special for most of them don't have that. It varies from just a few feathers to a lot of their body feathers being that way. Browse thru the site for several threads on the red factor greys for some more information on them and they have some photos to view as well.
