  1. Something is different in the home and that is why she is acting strange, you just have to figure out what it is to correct it. I doubt it is the cage as she went into it willingly so you will have to ponder on this for a bit. If the shaking is mostly in the breast area that is normal for greys so don't worry about that.
  2. Very good advice, BMustee, and get something with a pattern to it instead of a solid color, the stains won't show up as much.
  3. They are not supposed to have too much red meat, and I go easy on that, but chicken is good for them and Josey loves it. If you are eating it then they want it.
  4. Congrats on getting Tank home and it sounds like you two are doing great. He is wanting to be near you for he feels safer that way and he is bonding with you nicely. He will probably become a little more independent later on, mine did as they become more mature.
  5. Lovie gave you some excellent ideas and the others gave you some good ones too. I second Valerie's suggestion of letting them on the table to eat off your plate, Josey does that and boy she can dig into some stuff too.
  6. Very nice pictures, Andrew and Kristin, you are capturing some good photos with that new camera, thanks for sharing them with us.
  7. My sun conure will be 3 years old in January and I have not had her sexed, but she does some stuff that I think is some type of mating behavior and I just distract her and ignore it. I keep referring to her as a she but she may be a he for all I know.
  8. Hello and welcome to the family, Mosfatal, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more stories about Vattoe Chico. Thats some name and he corrects you if you don't say the whole thing, that is so funny. No one is going to jump on you for doing the handfeeding yourself, it appears you have plenty of experience, and that is all that matters. I see you are a vet student, will you specialize in avian medicine perhaps, we could always use some more good ones. I see from your avatar that you have a cage similar to mine, and if you want to post another picture of your grey in this thread please do so we have a good one to look at to admire him. If you have any specific questions you would like to ask, please do so and we will try to answer as best as we can. Also read over the many threads here for lots of useful information.

    CAG Molt

    Like BMustee, my sun conure seems to always be in a molt, she has pin feathers on her head and neck area all the time. Thanks Dave for the information on molting in greys, it was very helpful to me and probably to Jill as well.
  10. Tracy I have wondered where in the heck you have been, good to have you back, now get busy and catch up, you go girl.
  11. Hey you two watch that rolling around on the floor laughing, you two are the ones cracking me up.:laugh:
  12. All you guys here make me smile, and sometimes a few of you make me downright laugh my head off, but I love my friends here and that is something to smile about. {Love-000200BF}
  13. Yes birds do make noise but this one just started this new behavior and it could be that she has settled in and is more vocal, but Josey does not scream like that, now my sun conure does. Most greys are known for being quieter than other parrots but maybe something has happened that upset her that you don't know about. I guess you will just have to get used to it, don't react to it, just ignore it so as not to reinforce it any further.
  14. Couple of questions first, how old is she and how long have you had her? Has anything changed in your household recently? Is it at certain times of the day that she does this? Give us a little more information and maybe some of us can give you an answer. The head shaking is just something they do, my Josey does the same thing and it may be they are trying to dislodge something in the cere, maybe a tiny downy feather perhaps.
  15. I don't have any in the house or I would be into them also, a good chocolate chip cookie would certainly hit the spot, NO I will not succumb to that, no way, I am a good girl, but I can be bad for the right reason.
  16. I see you are a half full glass and not the half empty glass kind of person, positive is better than negative and you certainly do have a good outlook for yourself and your family, you have a good head on your shoulders even if you do live in West Virginia. Just kidding about that part, I bet you are tired of hearing West VA jokes.
  17. I smile at a beautiful sunrise or sunset and like you if a particular song comes on that is a favorite I find myself smiling. Now if I see a good looking man then I might smile from ear to ear. {Feel-good-00020114}
  18. I don't have any Petcos near me, I live in Virginia but I will check out the website for any possible bargains, thanks Laurie.
  19. I am guessing you have not had him that long and you don't know what his treatment was with his previous owner so that may have something to do with the hands thing. Maybe you are spending too much time with him and he is dependent on you for his entertainment, he needs to be able to amuse himself for periods of time. I have Josey out of her cage when I get home from work but I don't have her by my side all the time until she goes to bed. There is such a thing as spending too much time with them. Maybe some of the other members have some other ideas that will help you with your problem, I hope so, you sound like you really need help.
  20. You are right on the money, Lisa, it takes time and patience to convert a seed junkie to a healthier diet but it can be done and what you did is an excellent example. Keep up the good work, Lisa.
  21. Joe is right, I would be mad also, and I would not want any of the other birds that breeder has for they have been exposed to that virus. I don't know much about that virus but you can google it and find out about it. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
  22. Thanks Jane for sharing your success story with us, it lets others know that you can do it if you try.
  23. If Dave gives you information you can take it for the truth, he knows his stuff and we rely on him for lots of advice and he does not disappoint here either. Thanks Dave for another fine post.
  24. Bummer, I didn't get to take my walk today, but it is curves tomorrow and maybe a walk also, to make up for today.
