  1. Hello and welcome to the family, Kierstin, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock. I have a sun conure also, aren't they just the silliest things. Feel free to browse thru our many threads for useful information but you probably don't need much with the flock you have, you could probably tell us a few things. If you do have any specific questions please feel free to ask us anything, we will do our best to answer as best as we can and we will help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of your CAG you would like to post please do so, we love to admire each other's greys. And if you want to add your other bird's photos we have a room for them as well. Please give us a little more information if you would like, how old is your birds, how long have you had them, their names and so forth. It will help us get to know you better.
  2. I plan on having a very lovely day, thanks Joe, is a little cloudy here and there is a hint of rain forecast for maybe Friday, hope so, we are so dry, but at least the temps have cooled off, 9:34 am and all is well.
  3. Well believe me the days will pass very quickly and then you will have that baby home to enjoy and love. You are doing everything right, reading all you can to learn about these amazing creatures. And that is the best way if there are more than one is to let it pick you, but regardless it will come to love and trust you if you love it in return. I am excited for you too, I know how you feel, I was once in your shoes so be patient, good things come to those who wait.
  4. Yes you do and I believe the cat and bird can get along but I would never leave the bird out without supervision when the cat is around. Just use common sense and they can co-exist. I second the suggestion of the book that Lovie recommended, that is an excellent source of information on greys.
  5. Hello and welcome to the family, Cyard, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new grey. They are amazing creatures aren't they, and I am glad you could finally get the bird you have wanted and you won't be disappointed with it. Please read thru our many threads on various topics for lots of useful information on all aspects of grey ownership. If you have any specific questions you would like to ask please do so we will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. When you browse thru the threads I believe we already have one that deals with what to look for, but generally one that looks healthy, clear eyes, clear ceres, no matted feces on vent and generally alert. Good luck to you on Friday with your visit and hope you find the baby you are looking for and be sure to keep us informed, we care about you and your baby.
  6. Valerie I am about a third of the way thru it and it is fascinating reading, what this child went thru in her childhood is amazing, I can't wait to finish.
  7. Hello and welcome to the family, Stephanka917, glad you could join us and I hope Merlin can be saved. I am glad you got your grey but am heartbroken at the same time that he is in such shape. How in the world can someone treat god's creature that way, yes indeed I would turn him in to the authorities too. You did the right thing to let someone knowledegeable take over for you and give Merlin the care he needs to hopefully recover from the near starvation but probably like you said he will be permanently damaged. This says a lot about you that you will care for and love him no matter what, even if his days here are shorter because of the abuse, at least it will be with someone who genuinely cares about him and loves him unconditionally. You have a huge heart and may you be so blessed to have his love and devotion in return. I will keep you and Merlin in my thoughts and prayers for I want him to have the home he truly deserves and your love. Please keep us updated on this matter, we do care about you and Merlin and we want to help you in any way we can, just let us know what we can do.

    Time to Vote

I voted also and it was hard to choose.:cheer:
  9. I never did get one, but I may have to get one for them for Christmas, would make a good gift for them for sure.
  10. I've started reading "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls, it is an autobiography of her growing up with some weird parents.
  11. Yes Deb is right to use the towel in a game with Romo so that when the day comes he has to be restrained with one he won't freak out over it. Playing hide and seek is a good way to get them used to a towel on them. Good job Deb.
  12. You don't need a first aid book on parrots, you just need something to stop bleeding if it happens when a blood feather is cut. You can use a little cornstarch or even flour to help stop bleeding and of course there are products specifically for that purpose also. If there is any other medical problem it would be best to contact an avian vet for help.
  13. You are a good man Joe and we can count on you to keep us straight and you certainly do a good job of staying on top of a thread you created. Joe is no slacker, thats for sure.
  14. Beccy is right, if you have any doubts, contact the breeder you got the bird from, they would have the advice you need.
  15. Yeah thanks CD for the quote, I hear it many times and probably many, many, many more times.
  16. Thanks Frank for clarifying that for us, I personally love to flirt but believe me if it gets any more serious than that I will take it elsewhere, I promise. Besides, we don't want to put eharmony and match.com out of business.
  17. What do we have to tell on check in day, I am not telling my weight. I might give you some other info but not that, not yet.
  18. My Josey does the same thing with a lot of her toys, attacks them like they were her enemies, and it is funny to watch.:woohoo:
  19. Thanks Toni for doing the research for us.
  20. Please send some my way would ya Mandi, we need it and so do a lot of other places. Another sunny day here and high in the low 70's, be nice for a walk this evening.
  21. Yes Joe, you first, what are your traditions, I know you will spend all of them with family but what are your thoughts.
  22. I don't know Kristin but I agree, they look similar in build to a guinea hen.
  23. You got that in the wrong order, food is second to love. {Love-000200BF}
  24. Simply amazing, Kristin, and that is what I thought when I flew in a helicopter over this same crater on one of my visits to Maui. It is awe inspiring to see from the air, it is huge and I believe the pilot said you could fit Manhattan inside of it. Thanks so much for sharing these with us Kristin, and I am glad you could face your fears and conquer them, we all have some horrible things happen in our life and we learn from them and move on. The nenes look very much like a goose don't they.
