  1. Joanne that is so funny, Charlie must be some kind of character to do that and the fact that he puts his eye to the hole is hilarious, he must keep you in stitches all the time. Thanks for sharing that with us.
  2. No, my sun conure, Sunny does not try to snuggle with Josey in fact she tries to nip her every chance she gets. I have them both on my shoulder for a short period every day, otherwise it is one at a time, and I have to keep them separated, and it is not Josey going after Sunny but the other way around. The smaller bird is more aggressive maybe to make up for what it lacks in size I guess. Sunny will snuggle up to me but Josey is not much of a snuggler any more, she used to be somewhat when she was much younger but not anymore.
  3. It could be the fabric of the sweater that she does not like, my sun conure does not like some of my sweaters and I think the reason is that her talons get stuck in the fibers and she shys away from them. Its just a thought.

    Orange!

Good idea, Dan, its a shame we have to wait until after Christmas for a picture of Klaus, how about it Laurie?
  6. I don't wear them at home for that very reason, and I don't know how many 14k gold ones Josey and Sunny have ruined for me LOL

    Orange!

You are so right Laurie and it may take more than once or twice in offering a food for them to actually eat it, glad it was such a big hit. I hope your son shares his new camera with you too so we can see this Klaus of yours.
  8. Those things look like predators to them I guess, they don't know any better but I am sure his Dad assured him all was well but not before some puncture marks were left on your shoulders for sure.
  9. So would I, Dan, so would I!!!! Josey is right now sitting on one of her perches going over her entire repertoire of words and phrases. LOL
  10. So you have a yellow hater, thats interesting, have you tried wearing a yellow shirt to see if the response is the same for it could have been the article not the color, let us know what you find out, Ronda.
  11. Aww darn it, I was so anxious to see pictures of Lola but I guess I will have to wait, tell him to hurry back, just kidding.LOL Keep practicing the step up and use the same word every time so she will know what that means but it looks like you are doing great with her so keep up the good work.
  12. Don't you just love a good bowl of hot oatmeal for breakfast on those cold mornings, of course for myself I add brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins, yummy!!!!
  13. Gosh Dan that looks like fun for your two birds, I may just have to break down and purchase one for Josey and mine would tear at the paper on the bottom too, don't they all!!!!!
  14. Well good for you Jimmy, you were a brave man to do that, but maybe around Chicken you may need to be a little more careful.
  15. Now that is funny, Mgoertzen5, LOL thanks for sharing that with us. {Feel-good-0002006E}
  16. I can relate to that Terri, Josey likes to hang upside down and attack her toys as well, I think she enjoys hearing them bang around inside the cage. And one of her favorite words now is "shutup" whenever the sun conure starts screaming, it is hilarious.
  17. Mgoertzen5, you really need to have Mango seen and evaluated by an avian vet to rule out any physical reasons for the plucking. But the change in owners is enough to make them start and stress is the number one reason. But rule out any medical reasons first then we can tackle the other possibilities.
  18. Ouch!! is right Dan, and I shoulder Josey all the time but I know I have been darn lucky so far but she amazes me that she is easy on my fingers if she beaks them. She has been on my shoulder and I have stuck my hand under my sleeve and she has grabbed for it and puts pressure down but if I remove my hand and offer it to her to continue she lightens up on the pressure as soon as she gets ahold of my skin. I know, its only a matter of time but I count my lucky stars that I have gone this far without a serious bite.
  19. I hate to be rushing you, but I am still waiting for a picture of Lola, I can't wait to see her!!!
  20. Veggies do have more nutritional value than salad, when I think of salad I think of some veggies in a lot of lettuces and lettuces are not very nutritional at all.
  21. Terri, your partner is going to have to get over the fear of getting bitten if he wants to be able to have the birds enjoy his company as well as they do yours. They pick up on his fear and run with it and until he can overcome that fear he won't be able to handle them like you do. Ziggy has given you some good advice so put it to good use and see how it goes.
  22. Ouch, Jimmy, I know that hurts but it happens and at least it wasn't Cosmo that did it. I don't have a hard bite story, I don't even have a bite story, Josey has yet to really bite me.
  23. That was a very funny video Kristin, glad you could capture that and thanks for sharing it with us, it sure put a smile on my face when I watched it.
  24. You will have to have Mango DNA sexed, you cannot tell by looks, they take a sample of blood and do a test on it to determine sex. I would go easy on the steak, you don't want to feed them very much red meat and go easy on the cheeses too, mine loves cheddar cheese but I only give it to her on occasion. Mango is regurgitating for your dad, that is a sign of affection, he should feel honored.
  25. Gosh I hope someone can find out whether he was able to read and write, I am confused and would like to know myself.
