  1. Thats about right, it usually takes about 16 weeks or 4 months before they are fully weaned and ready to come to their new home and I know you can hardly wait.:silly: :pinch:

  3. Tracy gave you some excellent advice and two weeks is nothing in the training of greys, it takes lots of time and patience when working with them so take it slowly and you will gradually see results.
  4. I was afraid this was going to turn into a problem, Jimmy and it happens to the best of us, Tracy gave you some good advice I see.
  5. I leave the radio on for Josey and Sunny while I am gone for the day, they don't watch any TV anyways, the music and commentary keep them company. :whistle:
  6. An old country preacher had a teenage son, and it was getting time the boy should give some thought to choosing a profession. Like many young men his age, the boy didn't really know what he wanted to do, and he didn't seem too concerned about it. One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy's room and placed on his study table four objects. 1. A bible. 2. A silver dollar. 3. A bottle of whisky. 4. And a Playboy magazine. "I'll just hide behind the door," the old preacher said to himself. "When he comes home from school today, I'll see which object he picks up. If it's the bible, he's going to be a preacher like me, and what a blessing that would be! If he picks up the dollar, he's going to be a business man, and that would be okay, too. But if he picks up the bottle, he's going to be a no-good drunken bum, and Lord, what a shame that would be. And worst of all if he picks up that magazine he's going to be a skirt-chasing womanizer." The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son's foot-steps as he entered the house whistling and headed for his room. The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave the room he spotted the objects on the table. With curiosity in his eye, he walked over to inspect them. Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm. He picked up the silver dollar and dropped into his pocket. He uncorked the bottle and took a big drink, while he admired this month's centerfold. "Lord have mercy," the old preacher disgustedly whispered. "He's gonna run for Congress."
  7. Congrats on Bobby coming home tomorrow and Iam sure you are on cloud 9 right now, you will finally have your little Bobby back in his loving home and into his Mom's arms. You have nothing to be nervous about Carol, none of us knows all when it comes to our birds, we do the best we know how but you are not incompetent so don't feel you are to blame for Bobby's troubles. Thanks for the link to Bobby's website, I will definitely check it out and thanks for keeping us informed, I know you are busy but we really appreciate being kept in the loop.
  8. If he has been this way all his life then he knows no different and if he acts normal in every other way and gets around with no problem then just leave well enough alone, he is fine that way.:side: :silly:
  9. Mr Magoo thinks that was for him and don't take it away, I hope he didn't damage it in any way but he sure wants it doesn't he!!!:laugh:
  10. My Josey did not start talking until she was about 1 year old, before that she mumbled and did jibberish which didn't make much sense but you could tell she was playing around with her tongue. She did the wolf whistle and of course all the mimicing of sounds she heard in the household, microwave beeping, timer going off and such and if yours is doing this then talking is not far off. Not all greys will talk but most of them do, it just varies with each individual bird as to when they will do it.
  11. Don't apoligize for the long post, you are just telling us what the vet said and recommended. A lot of what he had to say I have heard before but he is right about a lot of things, corn is starch and sugar so naturally is not a very healthy food to consume very often. But he sort of advises feeding mostly pellets with some veggies and berries and that is more than I have heard is necessary. I'm so glad you took the time to tell us what he had to say, he seems to know what he is talking about and well known as an excellent avian specialist according to you and Deby. Yes please keep us updated on Tobie as we have become attached to her now that we know so much about her.
  12. Hello Tmeilicke and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your new Tag. You don't give us much information, what is the name of your grey and is it the only parrot you have? Do you have any other pets? Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions if you have any and we will get you some answers if possible and help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your grey you would like to share with us we would love to see him/her.
  13. Hello Amanda and welcome to the family, so glad you decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Homer. Homer is a nice looking Tag from the picture you included with your post and I assume that is your son holding him, good looking fella too I might add. Take a little time and read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will do our best to get you some answers and help you in any way we can.
  14. She is growing and getting so pretty Claire, I don't blame you for taking the pics as it is always good to share and thanks for sharing them with us:P
  15. Thats an excellent idea but to start out weigh him every day so you get an idea of what his normal weight should be then you can do it less often. You need a good gram scale and you can purchase them with or without perches for them to sit on when weighing but my Josey prefers to just sit on the scale itself.

  17. bettyboop wrote: I'd like to know the answer to that one too. I am so sad her prognosis is not good but with your loving care she could live for a long time but I know that whatever time she does have will be the best days of her life, you will see to that. She has been thru the wringer and so have you so get some rest and keep us informed as you find out more. I will keep you and Tobie in my thoughts and prayers.
  18. Oh boy, make mine margaritas Caroline:laugh: B)
  19. You are lucky indeed Carol and so blessed that he is pulling thru. I know that pulled on your heart strings to see him wanting a cuddle and not being able to give it to him but soon. This visit has helped the both of you and I am so glad he is on the mend. Yeah who cares about the housework, it will still be there later as you have had other priorities to think about and hope he does get to come home on Saturday. Keep us informed as you have been doing for we care about Bobby almost as much as you do.
  20. I keep hearing kissy, kissy and then smooching sounds.:whistle: :laugh:
  21. I guess she has you pegged Dave "you're a goofball" PMSL {Feel-good-0002006E}
  22. Wow what a difference a week makes, Violet is sure growing and getting prettier all the time. Thanks for sharing the pics with us, can't wait for the next one. Chicken scratching is normal, believe me as Josey still does it from time to time LOL:laugh:
