What a great pose, he looks so handsome in his tux, all ready to don his hat, thanks for sharing that with us, I would have this pic framed, what a ham:lol:
-
That is a sweet picture of those two and what a neat setup for them to ride. I take mine in a travel cage, it seems to work better for me that way and she doesn't mind at all.
-
Yum, yum, taters good aren't they, I can tell by the taters on his beak, that is so cute, thanks for sharing that with us.

I have just learned from one of our members that Marcia, aka Sashagirl, has recently passed away after a long illness, this is so sad. She had many birds, I believe she had 7 greys along with other birds such as conures, eclectus, amazons, a quaker and a senegal along with 6 dogs and 1 cat. She will be sadly missed by all those members of her flock and her family. Marcia didn't do a lot of posting because of her health and caring for her family but she was someone who cared about animals and other people, what she did share with us was inspirational and I will miss her. She told us of some birds she used to have that have now gone over the Rainbow Bridge and now she joins them, may she rest in peace. Judy

Well I am glad to hear that Blue had a good time and so did you except for the flu, what bad timing but you take what you get. Blue isn't an old man, he is middle aged in my opinion, but he seems to enjoy visiting with you and I know you enjoyed it even though you were sick, maybe the next time will be even better, you won't be sick. Thanks for letting us know how it went, just fine.

Thats good he is getting a vet check before you bring him home and please do let us know anything more you find out. I can relate to the excitement you must feel at this moment and early next week won't come soon enough but it will, trust me. You better have pictures, we are anxious to see this grey.

Thanks for the update on Jack, so glad to hear his feathers are coming back in and he is flying some, I know you are happy about that.B)

They like the shiny bright ones it seems, I won't let Josey near mine but she has one of those toy ones but she doesn't like it either.
-
Well remember that they can read our facial expressions and actions so even though you don't say anything to him when he plucks he may be sensing something from your actions. Just continue to do what you are doing, leaving his door open when you are home and he will come out in his own good time. He feels safe in his cage and until he feels more comfortable in your home he will continue to stay where he feels safer.

You can give her other foraging opportunities besides the bottom of her cage, we have threads that have some excellent ideas for making foraging toys.
-
Thats too funny, but she can have her own phone, go to Walmart and get her one in the baby department, they make fine toys for greys. Thanks for sharing that with us:laugh: :woohoo:
-
OMG, you are right, they can do just that and it gives me an idea, I'm gonna see if Josey can hit the bullseye on them too, what fun this will be, who will she crap on today.:woohoo:

Don't go clipping the wings just yet, he needs to learn how to fly and land properly and he can only learn that by doing. You just brought him home this week, right? He is still getting used to his new home and surroundings, give him time to settle in and he will stop flying off away from you. Greys are birds that you have to be patient with, it takes time for a new grey to be comfortable in his new home so give him some time.

Does your cage have the grate above the tray for the paper, if so your grey will never have to touch it, thats how Josey's cage is and who cares what it looks like. I use newspaper because we get the daily paper so it is free and disposable.

Wow, what a cute little story of Millie fly around and then Merlin's comment, I bet he was so proud. I hope your conure likes baths better than mine, she will take one in her water bowl sometimes but if I take her to the sink or tub she goes nuts, she hates it.
-
Oh that is so cute but naughty, yes you are going to have to rename it but I would stick to something that sounds similar so it won't be completely different to him.
-
They don't drink a whole lot and especially if they are consuming water rich fruit and veggies, he knows where his water is so I wouldn't worry about him not drinking, he will when he gets thirsty.
-
Debbie don't be depressed, but at least don't show it to Greyson as he will pick up on it and act on it. Did you try playing with some toys where he can see you, act real interested in them and offer treats to entice him out of his cage. Some birds that get into plucking it becomes a cycle that is hard to turn around, you might have to accept a naked bird but don't react to the plucking, just ignore it for he will pick up on your reactions and do it more.

Hello Stephanie and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your Cag and your quaker, lets not leave him out either. I am sorry to hear of your life's difficulties but some of us are handed some big ones but you are through it now and you are ready to bring your flock back into your life. Oh yes if you maintained some contact with them during the time your grandma had them, they will remember you, they don't forget that easy. The relationship may be slightly different but with time and patience they will come around again, why they may not require much to at least bring them closer to you, give them lots of love and attention and how could they resist. You may find some answers and helpful suggestions in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask any and all questions and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your birds you would like to share with us we would love to see them. BTW, what are the names of your birds?

Hello Skippy and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Skippy. I am sorry to hear of your loss of Shadow and Poco, its sad to know that too many of our precious birds lost their lives due to something we didn't know anything about. Shame on that pet shop for selling you uweaned babies and lying about their age, I would turn them into the authorities if it were me, they should not be in business. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Skippy you would like to share with us we would love to see him, and we have an other birds room where you can post pics of Scookie and Peanut, I just love those names.

Well tell him to come on in and introduce himself in the welcome room so we can meet him too.

If that cage is rusting then I agree you must not use it. You say the split level cage is so huge but was he frightened of it? You said he was overwhelmed but if he was not scared of being in it I would go ahead and use it. It is probably about the same size as the one I have for Josey, my grey and she loves hers. It has one side that is lower than the other and has a playtop on it is exactly like Josey's. Maybe you can put the perches down a little lower until he gets more secure in his footing. They really need the larger cage with enough room for them to spread their wings and not touch the sides.

I know the feeling, you can hardly wait, only a few more days now, got any butterflies yet:)

Thanks Tracy for sharing that with us, I didn't know that and I would imagine a lot of others didn't either.
