Josey has pellets and a seed mix in her bowls at all times for snacking, she has a warm breakfast, usually of oatmeal and/or baby food then veggies, fruits and grains in the evening with some of our dinner meal.

Congrats on a second baby hatching, wow this is wonderful to hear and so glad that Jack and Loui are doing a fine job with them. I can't answer on the other egg, maybe just leave it for the time being as you might be disturbing the parents and you don't want to do that.

I don't see the harm if you are using the grate so Baxter does not come into direct contact with the litter but I will stick with newspaper as I have a ready supply of it all the time.

Hello Julie and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Charlie. You have taken on quite a task but with a lot of time and much patience you will eventually win him over. He needs time to settle in and feel comfortable with you, he may prefer males but that doesn't mean he won't bond to you. Keep talking to him and get out some toys and sit in the floor and play with them, make out like you are having a ball with them, that might encourage him to want to come out and join you. He is probably set in his ways but he will come around to at least accept you if not fall head over heels for you but just be patient and good things will come for you and Charlie. In the meantime read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of Charlie if you would like to share some with us.

Roscoe is a sweet looking guy, very handsome and he doesn't have you wrapped around his little talon does he, you are spoiling him but enjoy it. Josey does not care much for my hubby either but she is more tolerant of him now than when she first came into my life, she is my bird anyways. Thanks for sharing that picture with us:)

Congrats on your new babies and being red factor greys but realize that a lot or maybe all of that red may molt out so don't count on them having that for the rest of their lives, it just depends. Be glad to see some pics when you get them.B)

Welcome to the world of greys, you are going to get bit from time to time, its just a fact of life of living with parrots but he was trying to tell you something. Don't stay away from him just because you got bit, he will know you are afraid of him and he will do it all the more. They can sense if you are afraid of them and will use it to their best advantage. Next time you go to have him step up ball your hand into a fist and offer the back of your hand, the skin will be tighter and harder for him to get ahold of a chunk of flesh.

You are going to have to ignore it, they go thru vocal periods during the day that they may go thru their entire collection of sounds and imitations. You don't want to shup him up, just let him have his session and then he will be quieter.

Cheese is not really good for them so use it in moderation and not every day. A sliver is about the size of a toothpick, cut in half.
