  1. You just find what their favorite things to eat are and use them only for reward treats, some like some kind of nuts, my Josey would do almost anything for a little sliver of cheese.
  2. Hello Udbluehen and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Storm. Storm needs more time to settle into his new home and of course at 6 years of age he probably comes with some baggage but just be very patient with him right now. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads, read thru them at your leisure and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Yes please share some pictures of Storm if you have them, we would love to see him.
  3. Pat, your indian ringneck is a beauty too, now won't he have that ring around his neck too like the alexandrines?
  4. Well Fay has gone now but Hanna is lurking and I think several more are in the brewing stage, rack em, pack em and stack em but be careful.
  5. I use newspapers in Josey's cage but there is a grate about 4 or 5 inches high over the tray that holds the paper so she does not come in contact with it, I would think that would be safe enough.
  6. He will be fine, anything new is strange to them and it will take a few days for him to figure out how to get around in and outside the cage then there will be no stopping him. You are doing a good job with Charlie.
  7. Read the following link I have provided that helps with posting photos, it might help you. http://www.greyforums.net/faqs/page_2.html I look forward to seeing those pics of your new baby, my you must be so excited, I know I was when I was in your shoes.
  8. Caroline is right, greys can be funny about anything new including a cage, you just have to give them time to get used to it but it looks like Shadow will be just fine. Hope all goes well in your surgery and you are back to tell us some more tales of Shadow, the grey.
  9. Hello Haggis and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and these two greys. This is wonderful that they are parents of a cute little baby grey, I can't begin to imagine how you must feel, on top of the world maybe:) but congrats to you. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you any way we can. Lovemygreys has provided you with some links to threads that will help you with your new baby and she is an authority on hand feeding. Meanwhile the others of us would like to see some pictures of Jack and Loui if you would share some with us.
  10. Yes the photos would have been nice to see, what a shame she didn't take any for they would have been priceless to say the least.

  12. Erika, I think with a little time Tigger will be just fine, he needs to settle in and feel more comfortable but you will work your magic on him soon enough. Look what you did for Baxter, you can do the same for Tigger. I am sure you will spoil him rotten;)
  13. The others have given you some excellent advice, greys are very cautious of any other birds even another grey so getting one to be company for the one you have will probably be in vain. I like Berna's idea of getting some finches and putting the cage where your grey can see them and keep him company. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your grey. What is his name?
  14. Hello Dustin and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. A bird usually doesn't have to watch another bird to learn how to preen itself, that is something that should come naturally. As far as bathing, we have some threads that go into detail about giving baths and showering, give them a read thru for ideas and suggestions. I'm glad you could take in this grey and give her a forever home, she needs the love and attention she deserves and I am sure you will provide that for her. For lots of useful information please read thru the many threads and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of your grey you would like to share with us we would love to see them.

  16. What he doesn't know won't hurt him.
  17. Caroline, I'm sorry but I had to laugh at that situation, how funny is that to have happen, imagine that, a bell stuck on his beak, you should have taken a pic but I know you were more concerned with just getting it off. Glad to hear that all turned out well for Charlie.
  18. Gosh Berna, you were lucky to have an exterminator that knew about bird safety, wish they all were like that, but Elmo was a trooper and so glad to go home, yes you did raise him right, but then how could you not.
  19. That is so cute of them in the wagon, you have two darling greys there, whew what a ride!!
  20. Welcome to your new home Tigger, your mommy is going to be so good to you. Congrats on getting that eclectus you wanted and you are a smart woman who knows her limit, good for you and I know you will lavish the love and attention on him that he needs, so spoil him a little will ya.
  21. Oh I bet you had a good time on your vacation and of course Tobie was just fine, he missed you and it was good to get away for some rest and relaxation but mommie is home now so get back to spoiling.
  22. Glad to hear that Alfie is perfecting his flying skills and I have thought about microchipping but I don't think I am gonna do that.
  23. Peanut looks like he is a character, he is a good looking B & G macaw, thanks for sharing him with us.
  24. Fergie must be so uncomfortable to go thru a molt like that, well at least with a full on molt she will be over it soon and then be back to her old self, you are doing all you can to help, you are such a good mommie.
