  1. Erika, I have to agree with Penny, you have done wonders with Baxter and Tigger so you know somewhat how to go about helping this bird, go for it.
  2. Hello Wingnut and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey. What is your grey's name? Do you have any other birds? Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of your grey you would share with us we would love to see them.
  3. Hello Julie and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Dante. Congrats on adding another parrot to your household and you do have the right idea of keeping Dante first with everything so he knows he is top bird but I don't really see a problem with the new addition. But other members will have some ideas and suggestions for you on that matter. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Please consider sharing a picture of Dante with us as we would love to see him.
  4. And Sterling it is, a very lovely name for a grey, thanks for letting us know.
  5. Sassy is probably not going to talk until she feels more comfortable so be patient and I am sure you will be rewarded soon. Most greys love pasta and spaghetti is a favorite, those whistles were her approval of dinner. B)
  6. Greys Rule!! Koko has decided the window looks better unadorned, at least it doesn't appear that she is chewing up the curtain, just taking it down.  Thanks for sharing Koko's antics with us, I enjoyed.
  7. It sure it, the stuff that makes them "hot" doesn't bother the birds so offer different kinds of peppers, some like them and some don't but you won't know until you try.
  8. Thanks Dave and thank you Jim for the link about zoonotic diseases, have never heard of them but I should crawl out of my hole more often so I can find out more.
  9. Yep sounds like he will be just fine, another crisis averted.
  10. Yeah Pat a little more dirt won't hurt him as he has lived with it this long but with your love and attention he will be thriving and become so beautiful, you certainly do have a huge heart and Gizmo will be so blessed. Please do keep us informed as to how he progresses.
  11. I'm so sorry to hear of this but it was probably for the best that you sent her on to the Rainbow Bridge, at least she is not suffering any more. I know you are going thru a devastating time right now but the pain will ease in time. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
  12. Christian, that is a weird way to sleep but if he was comfy like that then that is all that matters. He is a good looking grey, thanks for sharing a couple pics of him with us.
  13. Thanks Trever for sharing a couple of pictures of Sassy, a greyt looking Cag, likes that apple too. B)
  14. What a fantastic job you have done with that net Jim, I am definitely going to have to get one and do something like that, how neat and clever of you, Rigel and Sierra look to be really enjoying it too, thanks for sharing that with us, loved the video also.
  15. Pardon me but do you have any Grey Poopoff? PMSL {Feel-good-0002006E}
  16. OMG I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I cannot imagine how you must feel but I second what Dave said, you are a part of our family whether you have a grey or not. Feel free to ask any one of us for any help if you need it, sometimes just someone to listen can do wonders for the soul. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that your pain be eased somewhat by the knowledge that you are not alone with your grief.
  17. Cosmo sounds like he is too smart for his own good, didn't take him long to find the easy way in. And you are right, only other bird lovers understand how you feel about your flock, our birds are our family, as if they were our children and we take our responsibility seriously.
  18. Hello Trevor and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Sassy. Erika, aka BaxtersMom, has give you some excellent advice as she adopted an older grey and others will give you some more. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. I would love to see some pictures of Sassy if you would share some with us.
  19. Congrats Jen on your new chicks, they are so precious, thanks for sharing them with us.
  20. Aww that is so wonderful to hear and I know it made your evening, I bet you are on cloud nine, she is starting to return the feelings of bonding close to you, it just took her some time, what a breakthru with her. Keep up the good work Pat and congrats.
  21. Hello Rick and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Cosmo. You are kidding me, you have a spoiled grey? Now how in the world did that happen?  I know exactly how for all our greys are as spoiled, they own us and not the other way around but then we would not have it any other way. Sometimes I think I don't have a life, I couldn't imagine my life without my Josey, she has become one of my best friends, I also have a sun conure. How long have you had Congo and how old is he? Do you have any other birds? We have a wealth of information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some other pictures of Cosmo besides the one in your avatar you would share with us we would love to see them.
  22. So you are getting Gizmo on Monday, I can't wait and I know you can't either Pat, have a good night's sleep and we will wait to hear from you tomorrow night, hope all is well.
  23. Ivailozahariev, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and this grey you want to get.
  24. Dan is right, the beak will flake and peel and them rubbing it on their perches or most anything is normal, Josey does this all the time, sometimes to get a piece of food off of it and I would imagine that is how they get the flakes to come loose and fall off. Their beak will look like it has a crack in it and technically it does but it is a minute crack that will eventually flake off, all a natural occurance as the beak is continually growing.
  25. I personally like the Galah, would have been my choice if I was to get another parrot but you do need to thoroughly research to find what would be the right fit before you committ to a specific species. That site mytoos.com is disturbing but it tells it like it is and it probably does turn some people off on toos but if it does then toos were not the bird for them anyways.
