I hear ya Dan and Erika and I share your sentiments, no one wants this election to be over more than I for then the mud slinging will be over. This thread is not political as I an not endorsing either candidate but just urging every American to do their civic duty and vote. FairY, as far as hoping the best man wins, in this particular election there is no best choice in my opinion, its more a choice of picking the lesser of two evils.

Just like the microwave, how would we manage without it now, I shudder to think. :cheer:
-
I would like to attend that but it would be impossible since I don't live in Texas. Thank heavens for snoops like you Berna.
-
Thanks Berna, you beat me to the punch.
-
Then he may not know how to play with toys but follow the advice given and you may have your work cut out for you but when he finds out how much fun he is missing he may just surprise you.
-
Yeah its easier to wipe clean after sticking their heads in dead carcasses to feed:sick: Unfortunately we all need reading glasses as we age, happens to the best of us.
-
We have the turkey buzzard and they don't have feathers on their heads or part of the neck and I think they are uglier than the vulture.
-
Jim has it right, you have to play with his toys and make out like you are having the time of your life, eventually he will not be able to resist and join in. Since he is new to your home, maybe he needs a little more time to settle in and feel comfortable enough to play, some adjust quicly and some take more time, be patient with him and see what happens.
-
That may be a vulture, we usually see buzzards here, not the prettiest sight to see when one of them is feeding on a dead animal but then some animal has to and that is what it was put here to do.:pinch:

Hello Mike and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this new to you grey. Thanks for taking in an older grey as they don't adjust as quickly to a new home like a baby grey would but with time and a lot of patience this could be the start of a good relationship. Older birds require more time to adjust to a new home as they usually come with baggage but the rewards could be great if you are willing to make the committment of a lifetime of love and attention to this bird. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and be sure to read thru all the threads in the rescue room and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures of this greyyou would share with us we would love to see them.

You notice the head has no feathers and that is for a reason, who wants their feathers all messed up sticking their head inside dead animals to feed:sick: Thanks I think for sharing that with us.:pinch:

My grey does not get along with my sun conure, the conure is jealous and I have to keep them separated if I have them both out at the same time. They don't go out of their way to get to each other but if they get too close one tries to nip the other. Greys may not get along with other greys unless they are hatchmates.

I second those sentiments Dave, we are so lucky to have Caroline in this room and I can assure you she will enjoy herself as I will make sure of that:cheer:

Hello LadySadi and welcome to the family, so glad you have decided to join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your Tag. Thats wonderful that you could find it in your heart to take in this grey, they do require a lot of time and attention and his/her life will be so enriched by your loving attention. Maybe sometime you can tell us the story of the other two greys you had for a short time. So you are not new to greys but you will still benefit from reading thru the many threads we have here as you will find lots of useful information. Please do ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We would love to see some pictures of this Tag if you would like to share some with us. Looking forward to hearing what you find out from the DNA test and what the name will be.

This is for all the American members we have here on the forum; Tuesday November 4, 2008 is our election day with this year being a year we elect a new president. I am encouraging each and every American who is registered to vote to do just that and go exercise your right and civic duty to make your voice heard. I am an election official, which means I work the polls, checking in people who come in to vote, guiding them to the voting machine and making sure the procedures are done correctly and according to the law. I will be working a long day, starting at 5 am to set up before the polls open at 6 am, working throughout the day until the polls close at 7 pm, but then the real work begins. There is a mound of paperwork that has to be filled out properly before any of us can go home which means we have to stay until it is done and sealed up. I have worked the polls for several years now but this is the first presidential one for me and I expect it to be very busy. Our Registrar has commented that a record number of people have cast absentee ballots which indicate a heavy turnout but if anyone doesn’t vote because they think their vote won’t count they are mistaken. No one should refrain from voting if they are eligible to vote but if you don’t vote then please keep your mouth shut if the person you wanted in office doesn’t make it. Please get out there Tuesday and make your voice heard!<br><br>Post edited by: Talon, at: 2008/11/05 04:12

Hello Mary and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Maximum. What an unusual name! So your mother is fascinated with this place is she, well she is in good company for we all love it here, we have some of the best people here, very knowledgeable and some of the friendliest you will find. You will also find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you would share some pictures of Maximum with us we would love that. -
I just love that picture of the babies, I want to grab them all up and hug and squeeze them, they are so adorable and its too bad you won't be able to visit but at least the breeder can keep you updated with pics and emails. Carolyn gave you some excellent advice for bringing it home and you will do fine I am sure, now the waiting starts.
-
Thanks for letting us know that Ice is home, he will settle in soon and hopefully the biting will stop but that is to be expected right now. You might have to wait a while to hear his vocabulary of words, he won't say much until he feels more comfortable but do keep us updated. Looking forward to pictures when you can manage them.

The little dickens, thanks for sharing that with us, made my day even though you are in the doghouse at the moment, oh well this too shall pass.  :woohoo:

Most any of the online bird supply places sell shower perches and they are mostly all the same, pvc pipe with suction cups to attach to the shower wall, just do a google search to find them. Thats wonderful that Sassy likes showers, mine would never venture into one without being taken in there by me, she tolerates the shower but does not like it, count yourself lucky.

Hello Dragonheart and welcome to the family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing anything about you since you gave us nothing in your introduction. I assume you have a grey since I see one in your avatar, how old is it and how long have you had it? Do you know what sex it is and what is the name? You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so browse thru and read to your hearts content and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. If you have any other pictures of your grey you would like to share with us we would love to see them.

Wow Berna you are a skillful pumpkin carver, it takes a good steady hand to carve one of those things and you did 3, thanks for sharing them with us. Love those eyelashes, very sexy looking, bet they worked wonders on that bf of yours huh:whistle:

Gryphon wrote: Surprise, surprise, surprise, not going to have to worry about bathing Gryphon, just run some water and he will come running to get in, you are so lucky he likes it. I find that Josey says some things in my voice and some in my hubby's voice, it just depends on what she says but there is no mistaking my laugh, she has that one down good.:woohoo: :silly:

I buy mine from www.parrot-fever.com but the owners are local and members of our bird club and they give a discount to us on purchases. I haven't asked but you could contact your avian vet and inquire if they handle the Harrison's pellets as I know some vets do carry some pet foods for sale, never hurts to ask. Just google Harrison's pellets and see which places handles them and compare prices and shipping costs to see which is the cheapest.
