Dogwoods are our state's flower but I am sure they wouldn't miss a few when they come in this spring:whistle: thanks for the list Linda:cheer: :cheer: I will be planting some nasturtiums too if it will bring me some money into the house, thanks for that tip too Linda.

We have three Friday the 13th's this year, one in February, one in March and one in November, some years we only have 1 but we are lucky this year. Some believe that if you have a black cat cross the road in front of you it will bring you bad luck, BS Where I live if I didn't see at least one crow during the day then something is truly wrong, we see crows all the time.

 Sorry about that, I forgot you have two greys, Keemo and Kiki, thanks for clearing that up for me. I like the name Kiki and with Keemo being the other grey it sounds good together, why would you want to change it, believe me I have heard much sillier names.

A question about trimming flight feathers
judygram replied to Journeyman's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Well he is making another post in that thread so be sure to check it out, Dave is our "go to" man for greyt information as he has a wealth of it and he is so kind to share it with all of us, we are so blessed to have him here. -
I have included a link to a thread about this very subject and you will find other good threads in the nursery and we also have a Homemade Toys & Playstands room where you will find other good ideas and suggestions. Also do a search for foraging toys and you will find even more threads, happy hunting. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73105-teaching-your-baby-to-play.html

I was not aware that my post was negative, I am just being realistic and I made some comments with what I was given as information provided by you. You said he couldn't be trusted so I based my answer on that statement. No I do not have $800 a month extra but then I am not in your shoes now am I, you are the one facing this situation and you asked for our help so I gave you my two cents worth. Maybe some of the other members will have some ideas and suggestions for you that will be more helpful.

A question about trimming flight feathers
judygram replied to Journeyman's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Rick, I think you could use the method Dave offered in the thread I am providing a link to to help Cosmo with his landings as well as flights, please read it thru and use his suggestions, you can't go wrong with Dave's instructions. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/48241-how-do-i-teach-my13-yr-cag-to-fly.html#113085 -
Why don't you give it a try Caroline, what do you have to lose but some time, it worked for Mazy and it can work for Charlie too, you know Dave is giving you the best advice there is.

Glad to hear that Keemo is making a good recovery and should be back to normal any day now, yes her climbing around her cage bars is a good sign. You did the right thing in taking her in to see the vet, if you had waited another couple of days it might not be so sunny an outlook.

Rosie, if you say you do not trust your ex-husband, are you meaning in trusting him to be staying in your home or trust him in taking proper care of Howard? If you do not trust him to take proper care of Howard then this is no solution, the care and well being of Howard should be your utmost concern. I know that deep down you really don't want to lose Howard but you have travel obligations that you cannot get out of so unless you can find some solution to that problem then rehoming him is the only answer. Isn't there someone else who can take care of Howard in your absence besides your ex? You said you have another plan but it will cost lots of money, I can imagine it is some kind of boarding for him but if your ex cannot be counted on to take proper care of him then please consider this other option, money is not the first concern here, Howard's life and well being is.

The only thing I can think of it his hormones are kicking in big time as he is a fully mature bird, I know that this can make them act entirely different from their normal behavior but otherwise I am stumped, we need one of the more experienced members to shed more light on why this is happening.
-
Well take our advice and things should go smoothly without any mishaps and share a pic of your new puppy with us after you get it home, we want to see what you got.

OMG Dan, I feel for poor Kim and what she has had to go thru with this procedure, it does not all go as planned sometimes. Well you do what you have to and that is be by her side, I would expect nothing less from you and tell her I am thinking of her and to let that thing pass. I will definitely keep her in my thoughts and prayers that this nightmare is soon over. Please give her my love and you hang in there Dan, love you too.

pugwash wrote: That is a good one, need oiling, yep its time for a change:laugh: Is this happening when he yawns, for if it is thats normal, it is almost a click when they stretch out their neck and open their beak wide it makes a click, nothing to worry about.

Not every grey will talk, most do but you still have time yet as some won't until they are a little older. My Josey did not talk until she was 1 year old and there are a few that won't until they are 2 or even 3 years old so don't give up just yet. She may just be one of the few who will not talk at all, I hope you did not get her just for their talking ability for you have already found out they are amazing creatures and you have taught her some tricks. Just continue to talk to her a lot and if she is going to pick up speech she will soon enough, so just be patient.

Something made him start but the first thing you should do is have him fully checked out by an avian vet to rule out any possible physical reasons for his plucking. Then you can concentrate on finding out what has been different or what has occured in his life to make him pluck his feathers. That is where I would start.

You can continue to share with us some of the stories of your flock's adventures and misaadventures, we love hearing these as it is amazing how funny they can be.

Josey does not care much for broccoli but glad to hear that it is very nutritious, maybe I can get her to change her mind about it, thanks Dave for you know how I like to break out the bottle and celebrate.

Hello Melissa and welcome to the family, so glad you could finally join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your flock but especially Harley. You are right about our site, we have a ton of good info and many knowledgeable grey owners who are more than willing to help each other out with any problems they may encounter. That is quite a description of your quaker, haven't quite heard them described that way but if it fits then use it, I am sure he has earned it. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads so read thru them at your leisure and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions and we will help you in any way we can. If you have some pictures of Harley you would like to share with us we would love to see them and we have an other birds room where you can share some of Hank and Fancy.

 Yeach, that is true and a dog will eat cat poop too if it can get to it, very nasty habit and then they want to come and lick your face, I don't think so.:woohoo:

Yep, there has been a run on Legos since we all found out what greyt toys they make, should have bought stock.

Gryph looks to be enjoying his new toy, thanks for sharing it with us but what is that nail looking thing there on the legos?

And it is good that you can visit with the babies and are welcome to come at any time since we had another grey member who lost her grey because of the living conditions they were in, her baby had been exposed to toxic metals before she even brought it home and it eventually died. Go visit that baby as much as you can and get some pictures too if you can, we would love to see them, they are so ugly at this age they are adorable.
