  1. She probably thought what a strange looking chicken and decided to give it a peck to see what happens, poor Socks beaten out by a chicken.
  2. Sometimes love hurts and we fully understand how you feel.
  3. She is absolutely adorable, love those dark eyes and she is making herself quite at home it seems, so glad to hear it is going well for you all and we look forward to hearing lots more about her and seeing more pics as she grows.
  4. No one is going to mess with you for you have a greyt watch bird, he looks so handsome there keeping a watch out.
  5. Take them out on practice runs to get them used to their travel cages and make the experience fun for them so they don't stress out when it actually happens, my grey travels well, she plays in her travel cage and vocalizes while watching the scenery go by.
  6. I hear lots of peek a boos also with other vocalizations that I can't make out except to say just jibberish but he is working on it.
  7. That is wonderful Katrina, I am so glad you stuck it out and now you are reaping the rewards of your hard work and he is worth it, it may not be like this every day but then we all have our bad days even Alfie so continue the good work and stop in more often with updates and maybe a picture or two as we would love to see some of him.
  8. Well it is going amazingly well for you and Big Boy, stepping up for you and more interaction and he looks nice in that aviary outside enjoying some fresh air and sunshine, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  9. Some greys are early to vocalize and some take their time, they want to hone their skills to get it just right before they open the floodgates, I am sure that if and when Charlie wants to talk he will.
  10. That was really sweet and just shows how big his heart really is, kudos to him for what he did, thanks Dan for sharing that with us.
  11. Nothing like changing things up a bit to upset the routine and then he won't know whats next, other than that I haven't a clue for mine are ready for bed when that time comes and I never have a problem out of any of them, they go right into their cage.
  12. Very nice view but bring the breakfast please so no one gets hurt! Love it.
  13. Sometimes those feathers are ready to come out but just needs to be loosened up a bit and flying accomplishes that so therefore you found them, they definitely weren't blood feathers so unless you see lots more like that there is nothing to worry about.
  14. She may think there is another grey and she is interacting with it by talking back but its adorable and nothing wrong with it. Now my grey will listen intently when she hears another grey like if I play a video of a grey talking or playing, I believe she recognizes its another bird like her.
  15. I wish my grey would do that but Brutus is hilarious, thanks for sharing that with us.
  16. She has missed you so much and is staying close because of the time she spent outside probably frightened by the noises and other creatures outside, she may be like this for a bit before she returns to a more normal self and feeding her like a baby is ok for she probably needs the nourishment. Please don't clip her, I think she loves flying and if you take the necessary precautions then she should be safe but if they are fully flighted then if an escape does happen they are more apt to be able to get away from predators.
  17. I remember that you had to give her up but so glad to hear she is coming back to you and yes she will remember you but it may take a while for her to settle back into your home especially with a broken wing. They should have taken her in to see an avian vet right after it happened but at least she will be going with you, I hope there is something they can do for her, at least give her something for pain for she surely is experiencing that, keep her warm until you can take her.
  18. I heard this last night before I went to bed, such a sad loss at such an early age, he will be missed.
  19. To some it may not seem like much but we know it is a giant step, here is to many more of these to come.
  20. I must admit I had a lump in my throat when I first started reading this thread for I was thinking, another lost grey but I read on and she is home again, what a scare that must have been for you all but it just goes to show how quickly it can happen. Poor dear was so thirsty and hungry from her ordeal but expect her to be back to her old self soon and yes lesson learned, welcome home Greycie.
  21. They love to hang upside down, they resemble bats that way, mine occasionally will latch onto the side and get herself into a twisted position that looks like it would hurt but obviously it doesn't or she wouldn't do it, I would try to get a picture but as soon as she would see the camera she would be out of it. Sometimes she will be hanging by one foot and spinning, daredevils they think they are.
  22. Its almost impossible to pull a fast one on a grey but do try again and again and again!
  23. I wonder if anything has changed and it could be most anything that may not seem like anything to you or maybe she has become more independent and prefers to interact from a little distance. Can you tell us more so we might be able to help you with this.
  24. A grey must look good and every feather must be in place.
  25. Greys like to imitate bats it seems and Slater is doing what comes naturally.
