  1. Don't give up hope Nancy, Kiki is either out there or someone has already found her but she will find her way home soon, keep looking.
  2. Alfie is going to love that, looks great.
  3. She has laid 4 eggs, lost weight and pooping large amounts, she needs to be seen by an avian vet and as soon as possible so she can be directed back on the right path, do it then let us know what you find out.
  4. I only have 3 ceiling fans so I use some floor fans when I need a little extra cooling.
  5. That would make a great video Ray, come on and indulge us with a little footsie with Cricket.
  6. What a hoot but it looked like that coon had visited too many corn fields for his own good, thanks for sharing it with us.
  7. It looks to me like he is definitely picking his feathers but I don't know what the problem is, your friend is correct in taking Coco in to see an avian vet, he should be able to determine if there is anything physicallly wrong with him to cause that behavior, its the first step. Please update us on what he finds out.
  8. They pick up the darndest sounds and when repeating it over and over can get on your nerves, several times its cute but they tend to wear it out, do not kid yourself on their ability to mimic perfectly those sounds, you will wonder is it real or is it your grey.
  9. Dan gives good advice about allowing her to tug at your lips, she might not be hurting you now but it could lead to a nasty bite someday, also we have bacteria in our mouths that could potentially harm Shelby and you don't want to make her sick or it could even kill her, better to distract her to something else than risk putting a fat lip on your pretty face. Otherwise its cute that she is wanting your attention, focus on me is what is on her mind.
  10. Well thanks Dave, knew you would find a new source for our red gold.
  11. Can't trust anyone or anything any more.
  12. That's not good news Dave, where are we gonna find it now that they won't carry it anymore? Have you found a new source yet? Did they give a reason why?
  13. Have watched it before but enjoyed it again, thanks Dee for sharing it with us.
  14. Do not provide her with a proper nest as you do not want to encourage her to lay any more eggs as it will deplete her calcium levels. Thats why she was pulling out feathers to line her nest with. Just let her sit on her eggs and in a couple of weeks you can remove them and by the way they are not fertile eggs so they won't hatch out. There are some threads here that deal with females laying eggs and how to discourage that behavior.
  15. Happy Hatchday plus one Gracie, I know your daddy was extra special to you today I bet and I hope you have many many many more to come.
  16. I can relate to that as I have a velcro bird myself, whenever my sun conure is out of her cage she is on me and goes with me doing whatever around the house.
  17. That doesn't really surprise me, you would think we here in the USA would have that title but I wonder where we are on the list of those English speaking countries, hmmm.
  18. I have to chime in too with the same answer everyone else has come to, Shelby is infatuated with you plain and simple, so adorable.
  19. That's great to hear but just don't stress out about her preening, act normal and ignore it, she is probably just scratching because she can now that the cone is off.
  20. Native African greys are used to the hot and humid conditions of the tropics but when we keep them in our homes at the temperatures we find comfortable they get accustomed to that. I keep the a/c on in my home during the summer because the heat bothers me more now than when I was younger but Josey is comfortable and that's what counts. Karen, in my house its me that turns it on, if I left it up to hubby he would let it get hotter or not turn it on at all so I rule the thermostat.
  21. By now Kiki has probably been found and is being cared for hopefully by someone reputable who will be looking for her owner and not keeping a "free" bird they found, keep looking and asking everyone if they have heard of anyone saying they found a grey bird, also check with the vets and local stores that sell bird feed or if anyone has noticed a delivery of boxes containing a large bird cage, spread the word with everyone in the neighborhood and even beyond. I will keep you and Kiki in my thoughts and prayers that she be found and returned to you safe and sound.
  22. This heat wave we are having is not to be taken lightly, good thing your friend noticed his odd behavior and you got him cooled off, we all have to take this seriously and not get overheated when outside especially if we are in the sun, drink lots of water but that cooling bath did the trick for Charlie.
  23. As the others have already mentioned, a vet visit is the first order of business to rule out anything physical then go from there.
  24. I have a pair I use when bleaching items for washing that I have had for many years and have never had any problems with them, I also don't use them when doing dishes, I have a dishwasher but everyone knows you can't put everything in them but I hate using them when washing those pots and pans. So my hands look old, I am old and my hands have done some hard work so if it shows in my hands so be it.
  25. Jan, Tobie's weight may be normal for him, it depends on his bone structure, there are greys who weigh in excess of 600 grams and are not obese. You should check his keel bone, if you can hardly feel it then he is too fat but I would let the vet check him out for he is the one who truly knows if he is normal weight or not but I highly doubt he is.
