  1. He is a pretty bird Vicki, there is no doubt from the pictures you shared. Are those your daughters in the last pic?
  2. I can almost smell them Carol, they are so pretty and I won't see mine for a while yet here in VA, thanks for sharing yours with us.
  3. At 23 months, almost 2 years old, he is not old enough to be sexually mature but he probably does have some hormones starting to kick in hence the behavior. Basically just ignore this and like Dan said do not rub or touch the back, under the wings or the tail area, you don't want to make him stop it but you do want to discourage it for it will stress him out.
  4. If I am not mistaken I think you are talking about what I call chicken scratching, she wants you to come and let her out of her cage, Josey will still do it some.
  5. You are the only one Carol:whistle: I don't know how you figure I, of all people am addicted to this site, no way, I can take it or leave it at any time:blink: NOT:woohoo:
  6. Thats about what my grey will do for cheese, man she loves cheddar cheese and when she sees me get the package out of the fridge you can see her wheels turning on how to get to it. I give her a little bit but she wants so much more.
  7. I think Emma is a camera hog, what a cute video, she is just loving it up, thanks for sharing that with us.
  8. Never happen:whistle:

    Lychees

I have never seen them here in the US and don't know anything about them but what I do know is it is edible but not the seed pit, probably ok to give to your grey just don't let him have the seed pit.
  10. It will take some time to wean him off the nuts and get him to accept pellets but it will be worth it.
  11. I don't see the harm Jacqueline and that is a pretty good feat if he snapped them in half, those unpopped kernals are tough. My grey and conure go nuts over popcorn when they see me with it but instead of letting them share over my bowl, I feed them in their own bowl for they make such a mess with it. I think you are right on the face flushing, he is excited and happy, way to go.
  12. Oh I am sure you two will have no problem putting it together and then it will be all ready for Chimay when he gets there, fingers crossed it arrives in good condition, let us know for sure.

    Its done

Thats great news Shelia and I hope she does not need additional surgery, maybe the worst is behind her now, she is so lucky to have such a loving daughter, give her my love and keep us informed.
  14. Glad to hear that your baby is home safe and sound and he is snuggling up to you some, enjoy it while you can for a lot of them outgrow it. I would keep his perches lower in the cage so he if he falls it won't be from up high and you might want to pad the bottom of his cage with some towels or blankets to cushion any falls. Just open his cage door and let him come out on his own, he will get curious and come see what is going on. Enjoy your new grey and let us know what you name him, can't wait to see pictures.

    Help!

Joyce, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some about you and your grey.
  16. I read that book in a couple of days, loved it but I will warn you, I cried at the end for we all know how it ends.
  17. No it is usually them trying to get something off their beak for Josey does it a lot right after she eats but they are also filing them down some, it keeps the beak in good form and finish.
  18. Erika had already included that link Penny but it bears repeating for it has some information that everyone can make their own decision on but the key here is moderation.

    Avian Game

Ruffed Grouse What parrot is sometimes referred to as the "minature macaw" because of their strong resemblance to these larger birds?
  20. There is always going to be some kind of glitch but glad you got your cage in plenty of time before Chimay comes home and they should have those replacement parts sent pronto.
  21. Oh my Leanne, I hope you can find her, I pray every day that you will find her first and keep her to yourself, those other people do not deserve another chance, they blew it twice.
  22. I'm excited for you Vicki, wow in a few hours you will have your baby grey, can't wait to see some pictures so don't disappoint us now ya hear!!
  23. Now that is a picture I would like to see April, can you get us one of you with all your animals laying on you, please.
  24. I get Harrisons from www.parrot-fever.com and they are located in VA also, I get a 10% discount because I belong to the local bird club but I usually pick it up myself since they are about 30 miles away. A lot of bird sites sell Harrisons, just google it and you will find them, then compare prices and shipping costs.
