Hello Thampton and welcome to the family, how wonderful of your wife to surprise you with this grey, knowing that you wanted it so bad, she is very thoughtful. I think you will have to give up on the "rubbing" him too much, a lot of greys do not like to be handled much and as they go into sexual maturity you cannot just touch them anywhere on their body as it gives them the wrong signals. Charlie has not reached that yet but he is no baby at his age either. In any case it will take time to gain his trust so go slow with him and do not rush him into anything or you risk losing what you have already gained. A grey is a very cautious creature and it will take much patience to bond with him. Ralph I think Spencer is finally coming around to enjoy being with you more now even though Dotty is his favorite and that may stay that way. Just give him time and let him stay at his own pace but I know you are tickled pink that he is not flying off right off the bat. Probably not Ralph especially in restaurants as they have sanitation regulations but maybe in outside cafes it might be permissible. I have never tried to take Josey any place like that before as I figured it wouldn't be allowed. I wouldn't want to take her to any kind of pet store just because you never know what kind of airborne disease might be lurking, I am not going to take that chance.

Joann you can give as much as you like as they will only eat what they want, in other words they won't overeat. I offer small amounts like a tablespoon full of oatmeal and she eats most or all of it. Four grapes would have been too much especially since grapes are just empty calories and don't really offer any nutritional value, save those for treats. Take a cruise thru the bird food room for lots of ideas and suggestions for what and how much to feed. In the meantime why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and Ziva, lovely name btw.

Thanks Shelia, I will have to check with my vet and see for if it is the same price then it would be cheaper to get it there instead of having to pay for shipping as that is the only problem with ordering things online, those shipping charges.

Zulu would be a good name for him at least it continues part of his name, she just called him SZ for short. He is a great looking grey and I hope the visit goes well, just take it easy and be relaxed as he can sense any nervousness on your part. Good luck and let us know what develops.

Most vets now recommend Harrison's pellets and that is what Josey eats, in fact it is the only pellet she has ever eaten since she has been in my care. I get mine online too, haven't checked to see if my vet carries it, guess I should compare prices. Glad to hear the vet visit went well, you are a good mom.

Aww Marguerite I am so sorry you have a migraine, I know how devastating they can be as I used to suffer with them myself and Dorian is probably picking up on that too but don't let him know he is succeeding in irritating you.
