  1. Hello Charliesmom and welcome to our family, we are so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Charlie. Thanks for sharing a picture of Charlie from when you first brought him home and hope to see more recent shots, yes I love those dark eyes too.
  2. Hello Vanessa and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Lexi and your other pets. I have a sun conure also and she is about 4 1/2 years old, she was my first parrot and is such a clown at times but mainly a shoulder ornament. It sounds like you have your life planned out and you have a lovely bunch of pets, I am a cat lover too, I have one cat at the moment and probably have had a cat in my life all of my life. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We do love pictures here so if you have some you would share with us we would appreciate it, we have an other birds room where you may put Skittles and Tiko.
  3. First things first, the cage is too small for a grey, you need something bigger and not to be placed on top of a cupboard, she needs to be down lower. A week is not long enough for her to get used to you and being in a new home, she needs more time to settle in and having those boisterous dogs around all the time won't help things much. Can you pen the dogs up for a while every day so you can have her out of the cage, she needs some one on one attention from you. Why did you get a grey for if you are afraid she will bite you, that is just part of grey ownership, we get bitten from time to time but she needs her food and water replenished every day or you will starve her to death. She is growling because she is scared and new to her environment, give her time to calm down and continue to talk softly to her and offer her treats. She won't feel completely safe with you until she learns to trust you and you have to earn that. She is still a baby at 11 months of age and it might take a little longer but I think you can work out a reasonable arrangement if you put your all into it.
  4. Happy Belated Birthday Janet, hope you had a wonderful day.
  5. That was so sweet of you to do for Robin, I am sure it will touch her heart as it certainly touched mine.
  6. I just love your pictures and you make such stories to go along with them, thanks for a good laugh, you have quite the characters there.

  9. Don't let the door kick you in the ass on the way out! {Emotions-00020060}

  12. Yeah I hear ya, we all have learned the way to get what we want from our men and as they are different then our methods are different too, whatever works but yes I look forward to seeing this new bird. B)
  13. It just takes some time and patience, greys are slow to take to any kind of change and when rehomed you have to give them time to settle in and feel comfortable, I would imagine things will slowly improve as time goes on but this is great to hear, keep up the good work.
  14. Neither did mine Caroline, I told him I was getting a bird and thats that, if he had told me no then I would have gotten it anyway, he doesn't tell me no. Sounds like a good fit, I don't know much about them either but if thats what you want then go for it and let us know when you get it and of course pictures please.
  15. I am so sorry to hear of Rita taking flight but just because the wings were clipped doesn't mean that they can't fly as you found out but follow Char's suggestions for doing what you can to find her. The more people that are looking the greater chances she will be found. I hope you find Rita safe and sound very soon.
  16. It didn't come up for me either but I put in your email address and there you are, request on its way.
  17. Robin, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Gracie, please take some comfort in the fact that she knew you loved her and you will have your memories of her to cherish for the rest of your life.
  18. Hello Mark and welcome to our family, we are so glad you found us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Monty. Monty looks quite a character from his picture in your avatar, he looks very cocky so is that part of his personality? We love hearing the escapades of each other's greys, some will do the darndest things and they make me laugh but that is what makes them so special, we are all a bunch of nuts here, bird nuts so you have good company. We have a lot of useful information in our many threads so do read thru them and ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here if you hadn't already figured out so if you have some of Monty you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  19. They should have a well check every year, the cost varies from vet to vet but expect to pay several hundred if you include blood work.
  20. Yep, do you do that often or was it just for the pic?:laugh:
  21. Hello Chip and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you, Pablo and Tika. Another member with more than one grey, yes we have quite a few members who have more than one, some with more than two and even more than three, the more the merrier but alas not always but we find a way to work it out. That is so sad that Tika was rejected because she didn't talk, a few greys will not talk but they are such amazing creatures that if mine didn't talk I would love her all the same. You will find lots of useful information in our many threads and do not hesitate to ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Thanks for sharing a video with us and if you have some pictures you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  22. So glad to see you again Titch, we have missed you but you look good and so does Echo, she is a cute little devil opps, I mean angel of a grey. Look like you are taking very good care of her and love the photo of you in her cage, had to laugh at that one, thanks for sharing all those pics with us and get busy and start posting.
  23. Me either, it might feel nice on a cold winter morning but hardwood, laminate or tile is the way to go.
  24. Pablo is getting to about sexual maturity age and he might have changed his preferences from you to your spouse, this is not uncommon. Hormones can make them do strange things and behave differently, do not rub him down his back, under his wings or anywhere around the tail end as these are the errogenous zones and will only frustrate him further. Its possible you may have done something to piss him off but only you would know that so unless you can think of something then my guess is the hormonal thing. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more about you and your two greys.
