  1. Not too much with my two but lately I have noticed that Sunny is starting to get a little possessive of me, she stays on my shoulder all the time when she is out of her cage and usually on my left one. I usually have Josey on a playstand and if I am going to another room I will get her off and take her with me, well she usually sits on my right shoulder and Sunny has taken to getting over on my right shoulder when she knows I am getting Josey, like she thinks she will keep her off I guess, well she doesn't win.
  2. I would continue to offer the Harrisons in a separate bowl if you can and give him his other pellets and foods as always, it might take a while for him to start to eat them or maybe he never will. At least you tried but give him more time.
  3. Exactly Jill, and I hope this has a very happy ending and Rishi makes a full recovery, he is well on his way there right now, please keep us updated.
  4. Sounds tasty, will have to try it this weekend for a tasty treat, good ole grilled cheese sandwiches and mac n cheese are good food for the soul, comfort food.
  5. OMG I am rolling on the floor laughing at that one, Rebel is hiding the broccoli like a kid is trying to get rid of a vegetable he doesn't want to eat, hide it somewhere and she used that flower thing, how clever of her and so funny, thanks for sharing that tidbit with us. 6. "Robbed" how awful and how heartless to do it to someone handicapped, some people do things that make my blood boil and this is one of them. I really enjoy your stories about Spock and Jim, you make them so interesting with their point of view and he is quite a character too, love the ones of him hanging off your hand and laying on his back, wish Josey would do that but she ain't having none of it. Thanks for another greyt story and pictures.
  7. Those people who were mortified by Beau's appearance aren't really bird people in my opinion, only someone who truly loves and cherishes birds can see the real beauty inside each and every bird whether they pluck or not. I hope his plucking will stop when he is completely healed and with your love and attention he should stop. It must be nice to be able to work from home, I wish I could but I have to go to the office to do my work.
  8. Its not silly, I think a lot of us have pet names for our birds that we use regularly instead of their given name and like we do our children when they hear their full name they know we mean business. :pinch:

  10. I really don't know as I only have one grey but I would think that what sex they are doesn't matter whether they will get along or not. I wouldn't worry about it, if they do they do and if they don't they don't but introduce them slowly and take it from there.
  11. Josey was 3 years old in May, she was clipped when she first fledged before she was fully weaned and never clipped again. She still has not grown a full set of flight feathers to regain flying ability, she has pretty much a full set on one side and the other she keeps chewing them off randomly as one gets out of place. I am getting a little impatient waiting but I know that is all I can do, maybe next year.
  12. Congrats Robin for taking in Beau, poor dear has had a rough time but you will be able to give him a good home with all the love and attention he needs. I am so proud of you Robin for opening your heart and your office for Beau, he will be so blessed and you will too. Now your office is in your home isn't it? Looking forward to seeing some pictures of Beau when you get him home.
  13. Some require their full allotment of sleep and if they don't get it they are grumpy, it worked for Jill's Harvey and it might be the solution to your problem, let us know Julie how it goes.
  14. I hope the visit goes well and he gets a clean bill of health, let us know what you find out and how Meiko takes the clipping.

    OMG

Its strange, I wanted to know the sex of Josey but I never bothered with it for Sunny, my conure, I call her a female but she could be male, oh well I might know for sure one day if "she" lays an egg, she will always be a she to me.
  16. I love hearing about the adventures of Jim or Spock, you have such a way of telling us the stories it makes it so much fun to read, thanks for sharing them with us. Jim looks great btw.
  17. Since I only know you thru the forum I cannot make an accurate assessment as someone who knows you face to face but it seems to me it fits, not that you are mad, since there are many shades of mad, but very outspoken and to the point but that is what I like about you and like Julie said, we wouldn't have it any other way. I think it was intended in a good way so take it that way, at least you have an honest friend, the best kind.
  18. It sounds like you have made great strides with Pika if the biting has almost stopped, I think you are doing a very good job so far. Like Dave said you might get a bite from time to time but not on a constant basis. Some greys do not like to be touched a lot and some only are cuddly when babies so Pika might be one that doesn't want much touching but it has only been a few weeks and she may not fully trust you yet, give her more time and see what happens. Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us some more about you and Pika and maybe share some pictures of her as we would love to see her.
  19. Congrats on getting a new grey, Cookie will never take Macey's place but it will help to heal your broken heart, you obviously have lots of love to give. I can't wait to see some pictures of Cookie when you get them.
  20. Josey rests one foot a lot of the time but I never see Sunny, my sun conure do that, is it just a larger bird thing?
  21. Oh you would be surprised at what some birds can manage to escape from, there are some birds that can open cage "locks" that were supposed to be bird proof but I hope this works for you and Biscotti.
  22. I'm sorry to hear about your horse but sometimes its the kindest thing we can do for an animal that is suffering. I don't have horses, never have but we do indeed have some members who do and maybe they will post about what they had to do if faced with the same situation. I know it won't be easy for you but please accept my condolenses.
  23. I think as long as it doesn't hang all the way to the bottom of the cage it is fine, a boing may be 97 inches in length but it is formed into a circle which won't hang that long. Personally I think Josey's is probably about 66 inches long stretched out, its sufficient for her. You might get the longer one to use by itself hanging from the ceiling for your grey to play on. Either one will work.
  24. I give my fids the shelled unsalted peanuts, the human grade, they enjoy them, a nice little treat but no shell to worry with.
  25. You are welcome to share as many pics with us as you like but there is nothing wrong with the one you posted, its a great shot.
