  1. Congrats on getting your new grey, you two are going to have a lot of fun in the coming months and years. Please give Fiti some time to settle into his new home, he is in new surrounding, everything is new to him so he needs to feel comfortable and this will take time so be patient and don't rush him. He looks nice and healthy from the pictures you shared but I only have one thing to ask, how far apart are the spaces between bars on his cage as they look like they may be spaced more than 1 inch, if so he could get his head caught in them?
  2. Ok, you UKers turn your clocks back tonight and we turn ours back next Saturday night, for one week we will only be 4 hours difference in time.
  3. Looks great Dee, how creative you are, thanks for sharing it with us.
  4. She is a beautiful little sun conure and they are very sweet birds, congrats on your new addition and I hope the test results come back that you have a healthy one. I'd like to get my hands on that 13 year old boy and yank his hairs out and see how he feels about it:angry: he should never be allowed to have another pet if that is the way he treats them.
  5. Poor Tiggs:ohmy:

  7. Their body temperature is higher than ours and therefore their talons and beak might feel very warm to the touch but if you were out in the sun maybe that was why her talons were hot, the sun warms up anything it shines on.
  8. You poor dear, no further details of what happened to Joey are needed, I think we get the gruesome picture of what must have happened to Joey. I feel for Joey for what he had to endure before his life was snuffed out and for what you had to see when you returned home, no one should have to see something like that and you will never get that image out of your mind. But one thing is for sure, you have our support and our love any time you need it for it will help you get over this horrific time in your life. I do hope you can open your heart to another grey sometime in the future, you know now what amazing creatures they are and even though another won't replace Joey it would be a great way to honor him.
  9. What a cute grey Lenny is, he seems to have a fascination with his talons, they must be sharp at all times, thanks for sharing them with us.
  10. I bet that was cute but I wouldn't do that too often, a hair dryer will dry her skin out more so than just allowing Koko to air dry.
  11. Just go about your routine as usual allowing time to be with your new bird. Do you have other birds in your household? I would put him in his cage and let him settle in as everything will be new to him.
  12. Oh my Rhonnie, first the good news then the bad news, I don't know what to say except I am sorry that Ceasar flew out the open door, thats the one thing you have to be careful of with a flighted bird. You have done all you can to either find him or to entice him home, I hope it works or someone finds him and returns him to you, I know you must be devastated. So Bill got you another bird, no it won't take Ceasar's place but it will provide some companionship and then when you get Ceasar back you will have some company for him. I am glad that you at least have some good news about Bill, hang in there and I pray that Ceasar finds his way home or someone finds him and returns him to you.
  13. The Harrisons may be the best but the others are a very close second so its not that big a deal if they won't eat it, as long as they do eat one of them.
  14. Interesting light fixture Jill, I have never seen anything like it, my gosh if it would spin I think it would blind you! :pinch:
  15. Jess, why don't you take a cruise thru the "Homemade toys and playstands" room for lots of ideas and suggestions, especially pay attention to any posts by Carol, she is a whiz at toymaking.
  16. Both of you have older greys and they are kind of set in their ways, not that they cannot be taught some new things but it will be more difficult. Arasay you have only had your grey for 3 months and that is not long enough for him to trust you, it takes much longer to gain the trust of an older grey. Do you know anything of his past? Maybe he was mistreated at one time and does not like handling much. Some greys do not like to be handled at all so if that is the case then you will have to respect that, some are cuddle muffins and their owners can touch them most anywhere but a lot of them are hands off for whatever reason. Arasay, I would back off from trying to handle him for the time being, you need to work on trust and if you keep pushing him for something he obviously doesn't want right now you may never get it.
  17. Like minds, I hope you do get one and then it will be another fid to visit when I come up, hint, hint.
  18. Punishment never works for greys, you have to use positive reinforcement but then you would have known that had you come here sooner, oh well you are here now and we will help you in any way we can to help you turn this grey into a quieter companion that maybe will love to be around his flock. You have to love him though.
  19. I also have a sun conure named Sunny, she was my first parrot and then later I got my grey Josey, the two of them do not get along but they co-exist in the same room and are fine as long as I keep a little distance between them. Conures are comical little creatures.
  20. If I were you I would lean toward a caique, that is the bird I would choose for my next parrot if there ever is another for me, I think they are very playful birds. Anyways have a safe trip and load the suv up to the top with new toys and stuff.
  21. Glad to hear your practice run was without a crash but there is always something to go wrong isn't it!
  22. Thats the gist I am getting from her post also, no wonder she is so broken up about the loss of Joey, she probably sees that in her mind all the time and it is tearing her up inside, how awful for her, I wish I could do something to help her get over this but time will heal her wounds. I just can't imagine what she is going thru but I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers that she heal from this tragic event.
  23. Ana Grey does twirl when she gets misted, how cute is that Janet, thanks for sharing that video with us, she is adorable and having great fun.
  24. And some of your neighbors would probably be glad to save them for you for they either throw them in the trash or have to take them for recycling, just tell them you are going to recycle them on the bottom of bird cages.
  25. I use newspaper as do a lot of us and if you don't subscribe then maybe a neighbor or friend who does can save them for you, it really is the best thing to use and easily changed out.
