  2. I love going to bird fairs too and in my case there is only one in my area and that is the one the bird club I belong to has in June but I usually like to go to one that is a few hours away when I can manage it. I was going to the state convention next week but it didn't work out so I am on the lookout for another one to go to in the near future. You always get good finds at these places and it looks like you did real good, thanks for sharing the pictures and the video of Ecko having a chat with himself.
  3. OMG Jules, tissues needed indeed, how about a whole box of them, you cannot watch and listen to this without tears rolling down the cheeks. Thanks for sharing this with us especially from someone who doesn't even live in the USA.
  4. Oh we can't have that now can we, can I vote on facebook to help you with that?
  5. Kopi seems more of an independent fellow and that is normal, at least he is coming to you when you go by his cage, everything has to be on his terms it seems but then it takes a while for him to feel really at home but the talking is a sure sign he is fitting in. What joy it must have been to just sit back and listen to him going thru his repertoire of words and phrases. He must have been an absolute delight for your two daughters this past week. I am glad to hear that he is bringing much happiness to your life much like Juno did, not replacing him but giving you such joy and wonder, I might imagine that Juno is very pleased with it all. Keep the updates coming Dee and of course pictures are always welcomed.
  6. Hey Jules, I am not Irish but I celebrate St Patrick's Day if only for the corned beef and cabbage, it was yummy. I hope you do get St George's Day as a holiday if it means that much to you English folks, I am all for getting more holidays but here in the US we have lots of holidays that pretty much only state and federal workers get, bummer for the rest of us.
  7. It has been down for several days for me, couldn't even get the site to come up but don't know how long this will last. Did you say you love the little critter, I never would have guessed! He is becoming more used to the routine now and knows what to expect from you, he will become more independent as time goes by Stephen.
  8. Happy Belated St Patricks Day, better late than never

    Broken back?

This is such good news to hear, he is amazing me with his determination to do what he is meant to do, be a bird and do it cheerfully, you must be so proud of him. What a wonderful parront you are to Vree, he is lucky to have you and thanks for keeping us up to date on him.
  10. I'm so glad to hear you found other living arrangements, as others have said you put your grey first and foremost, thanks so much for letting us know and do tell us more about you and this grey of yours.
  11. Some greys just do not like that harness but if he enjoys being outside in his smaller cage then that is fine. Mojo is getting him some sunshine and you too.
  12. I'm so glad it went well for you Marguerite and it itching does mean it is healing but it can be fustrating to deal with. It will be all well soon enough and then things will go back to normal with Dorian. Thanks for letting us know the surgery is behind you now.
  13. Thanks Adina for providing that link, now we can go and watch Emma and Sachi to our hearts content, love it.
  14. I know you and Maggie are very proud of Will Sheppard as am I, I am eternally grateful for our sons and daughters who have served and are serving their country in one of the branches of the armed forces, we owe them our very lives. You have a fine looking son and I hope he continues to do well following his surgery.
  15. My grey was selected before dna testing was done so I was getting her no matter what sex she was but I have not heard that myth either, don't think there is any truth to it for Josey talks and is very good at it.
  16. Oh Dee you are spoiling him rotten but who can blame you, Kopi sounds like an absolute delight to have but not to burst your bubble but as he matures he will probably become more independent but then maybe not, enjoy it while you can just in case.
  17. Welcome back JR, good to hear from you again and so glad things are going well for you and Abby. Its probably strange not having that leg band on but those things are a nuisance and they are better off without them, I had elected to not have the band put on my grey's leg but I have it.
  18. I have one sun conure, one zebra finch, one cat and two yellow labs, only the birds reside in the house, the rest stay outside.
  19. lovethatgrey wrote: Its a must Adina and that is a great looking toy, now that she has accepted it wonder how long it will last, not long I suspect but then that is the point!
  20. We all can use a change of scenery sometimes Jules.

    molting?

It does sound like he is starting thru a molt and you will see lots of downy feathers, all is normal and don't fret as the old ones fall out and new ones come take their place. Morgan might benefit from more frequent baths and spritzing with aloe vera juice as it helps with dry skin and helps to soften the keratin covering on the new pin feathers.
  22. I have to agree with the others, the terrace is no place for your bird, they need to be around their family, in the middle of what is going on, made to be a part of the "flock" I am afraid if you put this grey where it will not be around the family it will start plucking or some other bad behavior.
  23. Elvenking wrote: Now this is what I like to hear and you will get good advice here especially from Dave as he is a breeder of greys himself so he knows what he is talking about, he is one of the exceptions to the rule of most breeders whose main concern is the money.
  24. My grey can make a sliver of cheddar cheese disappear faster than your grey!
  25. You are so right Stephen, it is the highest honor to be regurgitated on, congrats but just don't enocurage it, he should keep his nourishment for himself. B)
