  1. What a clever idea and it works, I never would have imagined what you had done without the pictures and really it looks so simple, thanks for sharing the pictures with us, who knows how many members will go out and copy this but if it prevents an escape then it is worth it.

    Broken back?

Well this does sound encouraging if Vree is climbing around his cage, he must be feeling better and moving around more is good. Its interesting that acupuncture has helped him but if it does truly work then I will be the first to believe it. Let us know how he is tomorrow and it doesn't have to be a big improvement, just think in terms of small steps.
  3. Pebbles is a cute name Joey and she is a very pretty grey although I haven't seen one yet that wasn't. Cage is fine, glad you got a good deal on it.
  4. That will be an exciting day for sure, I am waiting for Josey's flights to regrow and she has several new ones on the side she is missing some, fingers crossed they stay.
  5. Joy is watching Josey devour chili beans then wipe the mess on my shirt!

    Broken back?

Kathryn do not be discouraged that his weight has dropped some and the vet should be able to tell you what you should be feeding him to get the nutrients he needs, a setback but one that can be remedied so keep an optimistic mind about it. I am not familiar with acupuncture but it might help, hope it all goes well and please keep us updated on Vree, he is a fighter.
  7. Another bunch of wonderful pictures and what a gathering especially if most of them had already left. I love the colors in the bird in the second pic, must be some type of ringneck. Thats so sweet of the cockatiel preening the too, they seem to get along very well. Well thanks again for sharing these pictures and videos with us, I always look forward to your posts.
  8. Oh Julie, I am a nonbeliever and it surprises me that you are interested, you and I need to have a talk.
  9. I love it when greys love the water and their baths, mine only tolerates it and won't open her feathers up to accept the water, thats so cute, thanks for sharing it with us.
  10. That last link has some interesting toys too, there are a lot of online sites to order bird toys from but I manage to get some of mine from bird fairs and such where I can actually see and touch them.
  11. The days are getting longer here too Shelia and do let us know what you find out on Monday.
  12. Hello Robin, its good to hear from you again and I am so glad that things are going good for you and Sephora. You have obviously handled the move the right way and it is to your advantage that you had some time alone with her without her favorite person, it has strengthened your bond with her. They are capable of adjusting to a new home, its all in how you handle it. You may have missed her first word but she is starting to talk now and the words will spill out with great clarity. I can tell from your post that you love her dearly even though you are not her favored person but she is rewarding you with cuddles and snuggles, count yourself fortunate as there are those who would love to be able to do that with their grey. Do stop in from time to time to let us know how things are going, I know you are busy as we all are but stay in touch as we love hearing from you.

    Sprouting

Thanks Joy for sharing that link with us, sprouts are a very nutritious addition to our fid's diet.
  14. Well congrats on your grey being a boy and what is his name, I don't think you have told us that yet?
  15. Yeah Pepper is the one on the left, she obviously has the more agressive personality so of course she tried to throw her weight around the other bird but it looks like it went well, maybe the next time you can keep them on separate perches for safety's sake. They do look good together.
  16. I have to agree with Dave, a grate is necessary to keep them out of their own poop and for foods that have dropped down there and maybe spoiled so you don't want them eating that. You could provide foraging opportunities in other ways.
  17. Joy here is one of Adina's recipes for bird mash, it is several posts down in this link: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/146389-added-collards-to-bird-mash-today.html#146457

    Broken back?

What a little trouper Vree is and that is good news that he is preening himself, hopefully he will be as good as new real soon, keep us updated on his progress.
  19. What a happy little green bird Salsa is enjoying his bath and you can certainly tell your hand tends to a lot of birds, look at the little red marks, scratches you might call them on your hands, the hands of bird love, thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
  20. Shelia I know this is a setback but please do not lose hope, poor Charlie and it could have something to do with the lighting but hopefully your vet will be able to advise you, I know you feel heartbroken but keep your chin up as all is not lost. Please let us know what you find out.
  21. Happy Hatchday Salsa, green rules today!
  22. I love to see this enthusiasm in new bird owners and its no harm to take a day to spend with your new best friend but it could become a habit that will be hard to break. It will be interesting to see if you are this enthusiastic next year at this time but there is no doubting that you love Issac.
  23. That Dayo knows what he wants and they are some of Josey's favorites, lasagna, spaghetti, potatoes, yum, yum.
  24. ""Port"" I'll have a margarita, no refinement in that but that spot of dark chocolate is nice though I much prefer milk chocolate.
  25. This is sad Tony but if your girlfriend is allergic to parrots then it makes it difficult especially if you eventually marry her. I see you must live in the UK, have you posted about this other places, surely someone would be willing to take on a new to them grey.
