Clare, sometimes it happens that way that the grey picks you when it is in a clutch of other babies and sometimes there is only one to choose from but no matter whether the grey picks you or not it will come to accept you as his parront and you can build a relationship that will last a lifetime so don't worry about it.

Hello EmmaApple, thanks for joining us but you just brought this grey home yesterday, please give him time to settle into his new home, remember he is in all new surroundings, new home, new parronts, new cage and it is all new to him plus he is trying out his wings, even with a clip he still has lift. He is going to take a few falls and bumps into things as he learns to become more proficient at it. I will also say here that hopefully you will give it a lot of thought about clipping his wings again as a lot of us here follow the no clipping rule and allow our birds full flight capabilities, it makes for a more confident bird. He sees you as strangers at this point and it will take time and patience for him to come to trust and love you so give it time. Don't put him on any high perches when he is out of the cage so he doesn't have as far to fall but just let him be a grey and continue to allow him out and things will fall into place very soon.l Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more about you and this grey.

Continue to take him out and maybe one day he will try it but its good you get him out and he is used to the harness, good job.

I love these Sunday morning postings on Saturday night but I love to watch Cocoa more, she certainly is good at it and thanks for sharing it with us.

Greys are lactose intolerant so letting him have a little milk is harmful but a taste once in a while won't do him any harm.

The orginal Memorial Day is today, the 30th of May but the holiday for it was moved to a Monday so people would have a 3-day weekend so occasionally it comes on the 30th but my daughter was born on Memorial Day when it used to be the 30th but then that was 42 years ago. Amen Bonnie

I hope his bloodwork all comes back with good news and hopefully he is not picking under his wing any longer but time will tell, please let us know what you find out but he will get over his vet visit soon and you will have your grey back.

Marion I am starting to really wonder whether there have been any more sightings of Bobby or has he been found, truly if he had been found you would have let us know, I am very concerned about this grey and still pray that he be found safe and sound, please update us will you, my heart is heavy with concern.

By all means go, she is a well respected woman who knows bird behaviors, I would go if I had the chance.

Hello Caleigha and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this possible grey you want to get. Yes birds can be messy and they don't come cheap but then any animal can be but the rewards will be so worth it, my husband was not so enthralled with my birds but he has come to love them maybe not as much as I do but he knows they are there to stay, they come with me so if you take me you take my birds, we will not be separated. Its really good you want to go with a rehomed or rescued grey but since you have never had one before it is a risk for you never know what may come with that bird when it has had previous homes and not everyone can cope with that baggage. Like Jay said you might be better off going with a baby grey then you can always adopt a rescue later if you feel the need to add to your flock and believe me you more than likely will. If you think you are emotional now wait until you have that grey, it is a lifetime committment not to be taken lightly and you will come to feel about that bird like a child, you will love it no less than a human child and only want the best for it. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information to help you make up your mind and do ask questions and we will help you in any way we can.

Yes they can Jay when outside so only take him out on a harness or in a cage. Thanks for the pics, he is so handsome.

Poor dear but some just don't like to be prodded and poked and who can blame them but he will get over it, just allow him to have a cooling off period. Josey doesn't much like vet visits either but she takes them in stride and doesn't hold a grudge when it is over and done with but some do so don't take it personally. I would recommend you put him in the carrier and take him on outings so he can associate good times had in that carrier, I take Josey out in hers and she doesn't hesitate to go in it because she knows she is going somewhere otherwise you will have a struggle every time you need to get him into it.

Jay is so right with the advice but the more I hear about this breeder of yours the more I don't like their methods. He was sold too quickly, was not weaned, not allowed to fledge, was clipped and didn't allow you to visit with your baby and he has been in business for 38 years, well that don't mean squat for he has a lot to learn, I only wish you had come here and talked to us before you got your grey, we would have set you straight. Yes please do let his wings grow out and he can learn to fly then, it will not be too late but he may never have the confidence in it that he may have had if he had been allowed to fly from the start, his ego is damaged right now but it can be fixed, just continue to be there for him, talk to him and he will come to trust you but it does take time. A grey always wants to be boss and they like to make their own decisions about things, you can work around this by allowing him to make some decisions for himself and letting him think he has made the choice, after all we have the bigger brain but you will be surprised at how smart they really are. We would love to see some pictures of him if you have any.

You have a precious baby there from the pics you shared, what a darling but I was hoping for more of Georgie.

I would like to strangle that breeder but thats another story, a bird needs to be able to fly and land before the wings are clipped but most of us here at grey forums like to leave our grey flighted, they have wings for that very purpose and your bird is only doing what comes naturally only she doesn't know she can't do it. It sounds like your bird was not weaned before you brought it home and that is another strike against your breeder, he/she needs to be put out of business. I don't think your grey has settled into his new home yet, it takes time for them to feel comfortable and the breeder clipping the wings so early has hindered his confidence in my opinion but please be patient with him. There are a couple more members here who will offer greater advice than I have to give, they are breeders and long time bird/grey owners and will give you some excellent advice, their screen names are Jayd, Dave007 or Spinner.
