  1. Wow it sounds like a great day, this is how we all should be and make toys for our fids from common things that are very inexpensive but I am one of those who isn't very creative, I need others to think of it first then I can follow along and make them for my fids so thank you for the ideas as we all know how expensive they are to buy ready made but from the same types of stuff. Would you be so kind to post some pics of what you have made, inquiring minds want to know!
  2. Welcome back Snowman and I remember how well Jesse loves his toothpicks but frankly I thought he would have gotten over it by now but i guess not. It is good to hear that he is doing fine and is a delight to you, so affectionate yet so annoying but like most things you have to take the bad along with the good. Now how about sharing some pictures of Jesse so we can see how good he really looks.
  3. I know she is feeling so jealous of the closeness of her baby and you right now but that will pass when she takes her baby home after weaning, it would be reversed if she had been the one doing the handfeeding and her bond with her baby will just be postponed until they are fully weaned, as her what she is more concerned with, having a well adjusted fully weaned baby grey versus one that may develop problems because she took it home too soon. You are doing great Tanya so why rock the boat, if you have any problems with her just let me know and I will get her phone number and we will have a chat.
  4. That was very enjoyable Jay, loved the dancing by Joey and Maggie sings nicely, there was hearty laughter and it sounds like everyone was having a good time, thanks for sharing that with us.
  5. They must be those little cups that some restaurants use for melted clarified butter for dipping seafood in like lobster, there are so many things out there that would make excellent toys without having to buy "bird" toys which are so expensive. Thanks for sharing that idea with us.
  6. Hello Birdnut and welcome to our family and wow you do have quite a flock but congrats on adding a grey. It must keep you busy with all those birds but now you have a perpetual toddler who you will be chasing after and trying to keep out of trouble for the rest of your life what what a ride it will be. You have come to the right place for we have loads of information in our numerous threads and many knowledgeable members who will help you in any way we can all you have to do is ask questions. We do love pictures here so if you have some of Moussa you would share with us and we have an other birds room where you can share pics of the others.
  7. Great pictures Sanggay and you can see the threatening clouds but Cocoa does enjoy these outings and so do we, thanks for sharing them with us.
  8. Here is one link to a list of safe and unsafe wood and plants: http://www.lovebirds.ca/Safey%20for%20Our%20Avian%20Companions.htm
  9. Now that is an interesting washing machine for birds but I am afraid that many are going to be needed in the gulf disaster as it spreads farther out, so sad for all those birds, it breaks my heart to see.
  10. Aoodi is really sick and needs help NOW, do what you have to get him some help or you will lose him.
  11. Emma is quite the little entertainer and I love listening to her vocalizations, I especially loved the "I love you strong and tight" she is one lucky grey to have such an adoring parront, thanks for sharing her with us Adina.
  12. He needs to be seen by an avian vet ASAP and hurry.
  13. I think he is doing what I call chicken scratching, Josey has done the same thing, it is an attention getting thing and it usually works. A video of it would be nice if you can manage it.
  14. I have to agree with Jay about leaving the other baby with yours for the time being, you are the one doing the feeding and should continue to do so until they are both weaned then she can take hers home, she will still bond with her bird even though she didn't handfeed it. Don't let her talk you out of it either, you know what I am saying Tanya, stand your ground and tell her we said so, in fact tell her to come here and join and we will tell her ourselves. I personally think your cage will prove to be too small for a grey unless you plan on having him out most of the day for when you had some toys inside there wasn't much room left for Jackson but that is my opinion.
  15. A few members of our bird club make jewelry out of the feathers, especially earrings and they make very pretty ones too, they collect some from the other members to get a good variety of colors and sizes.
  16. Since these things are made by people and people make mistakes it is not uncommon to find a defective one that slipped thru the detectives of the company but that was the least they could do is replace it at no cost to you for they stand behind their products. Sorry he had to miss the bbq but maybe next time.
  17. Thats your decision Clare and being closer to you means you can visit as often as you like but you have met both of them and you go with the one you feel is the right choice, the first breeder sounds like a winner.
  18. Welcome back Spence, haven't seen you in a long time but Dave is right, a cockatoo would be a very bad choice for someone who is not home during the day, I love cockatoos also with the rose breasted being my favorite but I know I don't have the time to give to one right now. I think another grey or maybe an amazon would be a better choice for you. Cockatoos are given up more frequently than any other species of birds simply because they are so needy and loud.
  19. When I saw this it almost made me sick, these beautiful birds are dying from being covered in that oil that is continuing to spill in the gulf and many other species of birds have or will succumb to the same fate. "For more than a decade, the hundreds of brown pelicans that nested among the mangrove shrubs on Queen Bess Island west of here were living proof that a species brought to the edge of extinction could come back and thrive." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37524560/ns/us_news-the_new_york_times
  20. Thanks Adina for that link, I used to use Beak Appetit and I may just have to give these a try.

I'm so sorry Tanya about the loss of your close friend but do what you have to as long as you continue to feed the babies.
  22. What an adorable baby grey and those are some good names you have listed, I like them all but two stick out in my mind, Bijou and Nura, don't ask me why
  23. Lyn what wonderful pictures of Alfie, she is so pretty and you take very good photos, she is enjoying the outside air and having a good time, thanks for sharing the pics with us and I think it is a pretty shade of green, it just sets off her good looks.
  24. So can we Laura, so can we! Don't make us wait too long now ya hear!
  25. You could always have him/her dna'd to find out for sure but Dave or Jay will probably know more about this behavior of Argyle's, let us know if he continues to behave this way.
