Hello Trainurdogs and welcome to our family, we are so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Tristan.
Have you had Tristan all those years and do you have any other birds?
He is a handsome fella if that is him in your avatar, I am assuming he is a he since you referred to him as a prince.
Take a little time and read thru our many threads for lots of useful information and do ask those questions and we will help you in any way we can.
If you have any other pictures of Tristan you would share with us we would love to see them.
Even if you have to keep Diego caged the whole time you are away on holiday it isn't going to harm your relationship when you get back, we all need some time away and that means the fids are usually left behind. I have left Josey and Sunny before and they are usually so glad to see you return that all is forgiven but yes now is the time to start looking for who will be the ones to look after him when you go away for a break.
Dave is always spot on, just when you think you want one Dave comes along and brings you back to reality, yes I love those big macaws but not to have to deal with on a daily basis, I know my limits and they were the grey and the sun conure and then that cockatiel landed in my lap so three is my limit, I will admire other's big birds but they are not for me.
Josey still does it on occasion but it is usually when she is out of the cage and she wants me to come get her, as she is not flighted she cannot fly to me so she digs.
Welcome back Kia and wow, a 3 week holiday but Cleo is glad to have you back, it is good to be able to get away for a while and the fids are no worse the wear for it.
That is so cute to watch him strutting around like that, you certainly do have two very entertaining birds Adina, love your videos and pictures so keep em coming.
Give him time and he may take to it, just place it where he has to see it and maybe hang a favorite toy from it and he will soon not be able to resist giving it a try, looks nice though.
Are you sure she is actually eating it for Josey will tear up paper and sometimes roll a piece of it around in her beak for a while before she drops it.
Issac is looking greyt, a fine specimen of a healthy grey and he is in fine form with not a feather out of place, thanks for sharing a few pics with us.
Dan is right, Yoshi will be fine, she is adjusting to having been away from home for a few days but the poor dear made a miss when flying back to her cage, just keep an eye on her. I know she was very glad to have you back and home where she belongs.
You have done nothing wrong to make your bird pluck, some are just destined to be that way and I think you have been doing all you can to try to help Tui so rest assured that no one here judges you for we are all bird lovers.
I am going to throw in my two cents worth here, I understand you don't want to "buy" this bird because the breeder will only fill the cage with another but the bottom line is you want to help this grey and if that is true then you will have to "buy" it. This bird definitely needs someone who can spend the time and give it individual attention and if you can provide that then you should do the right thing and get this bird. This bird's welfare comes first and foremost and if I were you I would give this bird a chance for a happy life, it deserves no less.
I totally agree with Birdhouse.
It looks nice, I know Emma and Sachi are two spoiled rotten birds, they are always getting new toys and things to play on, I wonder if they know how lucky they really are, thanks for sharing the pics and video with us.
Jackson is asserting his independence Tanya and telling you he wants to control when he goes back into his cage. Do not feed or provide him any water outside of his cage so if he gets hungry or thirsty he has to go back inside to get any and then use that chance to close the door. You can also have him step up on your hand then take your thumb and put it over his talons to keep him on your hand until you have him back inside the cage, do this sometimes during the later part of the day and leave his door open so he doesn't associate that with always being put back inside to close the door.
You will have to get creative on getting him back inside his cage at night since he is flighted and he knows he can escape you but why not do a search on this forum to find similar threads with the same type of problem for you might find something that works for you.
Well I love this discussion on soy and soy products and I really laughed at Shanlung's post about the "stinky tofu" no that will never pass my lips for I don't even like blue cheese but I find that soybeans are one of the main ingredients in Harrison's pellets and Josey has been eating them since she was just 4 months old. I will continue to give her the pellets for she seems to like them and I guess you have to take all this information with a grain of salt and make a decision but she does not get any other foods with soy products in them.
Thanks Tim and Shanlung for the information on soy and tofu, you learn something new every day.
Well I guess we all wish to visit where we don't live but my main reason for visiting the UK is to see my good friend Julie, another member here, to spend some time with her but yes she is going to take me around to see the sights.
Yes by all means do come to the US and see our sights.
I feed my grey Harrisons and it is the one most recommended by avian vets, Josey snacks on hers all day long. The nutriberries are more of a treat so I would not let them be a big part of his diet, provide a good pellet, fresh veggies, some nuts, legumes and a little seed.
Even though that seems like a small amount remember our birds are just a fraction of what we weigh so it can still be a lot for a bird and being listed last means it has less than any other single ingredient but that still could be way too much, in my opinion I would only allow it occasionally as a treat and not too much at that. They really shouldn't have anything that has any added salt to it for a lot of foods have salt in them naturally.
