  1. We already have this as a sticky in the Rescue room provided by our beloved Dave007 but thanks for sharing it with us again.
  2. A lot of greys are like that, they feel more comfortable around their own flock and can be "closet" talkers meaning they won't say anything around anyone. Greys are individuals and some are very quiet and some are very boisterous around anyone, some just like to be quiet and observe what is going on.
  3. I can't wait to see how it looks too so be sure to share a picture or two with us, how neat.
  4. Poor Dayo, he must have been scared crapless by that crane but it really doesn't surprise me that something like that would, I know my sun conure is always on the lookout for predators when she is out of the cage in the big room for we have a lot of windows on one side and from time to time she will take off like a bullet because she saw something. Good thing you were home to calm him down and let him know he was safe and ok.
  5. Patience, patience, patience is what we preach here and you men are the worst at it, if Timmy does indeed talk he will do so when he good and well feels like it so give him some time, yes it is still the honeymoon yet but I love your enthuiasm.
  6. Oh I have wondered about him, glad to hear he is healing and doing well as he is a beautiful bird, thanks for the update and look forward to seeing more pictures.
  7. Gosh Carolina, no one has left you a message so I will, glad to have you back on the forum after an absence of several weeks, you are a valued member who is a lot of fun to have around, have missed hearing of Diego's antics.

  8. Welcome back Carolina, you were missed, how does he play, does he play rough for some birds that do their feathers will show it but maybe he is getting ready to molt, hope there is no deficiency that is causing it, maybe one of the more knowledgeable members will shed some light on it.
  9. I can't see a picture, honestly! I see your avatar with Timmy sitting on your hand but other than that nothing.
  10. Winter may be on its way but it is sure taking its time getting here but that tree does look like Snoopy with the snow on it, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  11. That was absolutely fabulous Stephen and Issac does get a thrill out of spinning partly because he has a cheerleader egging him on so he is going to please daddy, what a crazy bird Issac is, can you tell how happy he is, thanks for sharing that with us, it was wonderful.
  12. Thanks Jill for the heads up, it seems there are so many unscrupulous crooks who take advantage of people that we have to be ever vigilant.
  13. You know I throw those shelled peanuts away that come in seed mixes, I just don't want to take the chance, if you think he likes to rip the nut out of the shell you can always come up with some way to make him work for his peanuts, you can hide them in things, like paper liners for cupcake pans then twist them shut and put them where he can find them and find his way to the nut, lots of ideas in the toys and playstand room. They all like to flap their wings especially when they are out of the cage where they have plenty of room to flap to their hearts content.
  14. They all do a clicking sound, I think its about time you read thru some of the threads to see what else you should be noticing that is normal for all greys but you are so excited to have this bird and you ask all the questions you want as we are here to answer them for you. It can be a warning too but when you have had him longer to observe his body language then you will know when to leave well enough alone.
  15. We do not feed peanuts in the shell to our birds because of the chance of them having toxic mold, you can give unsalted roasted peanuts that are meant for human consumption but sorry no they don't get to rip the shell off. Potato chips of any kind are a no no too for they contain too much salt and are a junk food, a tiny bit from time to time is all he should ever get. Pinning is what we call that when the pupils get small and he may think you are too close for comfort if he is making a screeching sound to go with it, back off and stay where he feels more relaxed. He may be waiting to feel comfortable in his new home before he starts vocalizing so don't worry about that but greys love to ring bells and even though he might not like you too close yet he still wants the assurance that you are still around. Please continue to go slow and take your time, it will be well worth it.
  16. He may not have figured out how to post pics yet, lets give him a chance to do so.
  17. Yes that is one of their popular things to do when they get into that mode of playing, would love to see it if you can get it worked out to share.
  18. Poor Jill, I bet you were more upset than Harvey about his bleeding beak, flour will work and so will corn starch if you don't have any of the quik stop but it seems he is over it in record time and back to his old self which is tormenting Jill.
  19. Yes that is the one I was referring to, the one with the long tail, that is a gorgeous bird, if I am lucky enough to get me another bird it very well may be the indian ring neck, a lovely little bird.
  20. I told you he was in the honeymoon phase and now he is showing more of his true colors but yes you are right it will take time and lots of patience but it will be well worth it, you are not going to win this one over in a couple of days. You need to take it a little more cautiously right now and let him settle in and feel comfortable for you have to earn a grey's trust and especially when the bird is older. Sorry about the bite but that is about the only way he has to tell you he didn't like something, he may like being given neck scratches but it is too early in the relationship for him to trust you doing so, give him some more time and don't take his bites personally.
  21. Wow what an array of birds and great pictures you took, I especially loved the green bird with a long tail and red beak, what kind of bird is it, I am guessing a ring neck parakeet or alexandrine?
  22. Hello Hammco and welcome to our family, so glad you could give Timmy a new forever home. For right now I would concentrate on allowing Timmy to settle into his new home, getting comfortable with the surroundings and new owners, he is in the honeymoon phase right now and hasn't unpacked his bags yet so be prepared for some different behavior to emerge soon, not to frighten you but to make you aware that things could change. He sounds like a delight but if he didn't talk for his former owners then he may not talk now and there are a few greys who never talk, they may do mimicing sounds of things but never utter a word and Timmy may be one of them. But there is always the chance he may so just be patient with him and see what happens in the next few weeks and months to come. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Now we would love to see some pictures of Timmy if you have some you would so kindly share with us.
  23. Here is one site you will find those nets but if you look further you may find them somewhat cheaper: http://www.windycityparrot.com/page/Windycityparrot/PROD/91401071001
  24. You have been missed here too Rana, good to have you back and posting again.
