  1. Hello BenzMama and welcome to our family, I am so pleased you have fostered and adopted these birds, you are to be commended for having such a big heart to give these birds a loving and stable home. I bet you adopted them from Phoenix Landing as I am familiar with them, our bird club has members who have fostered and adopted their birds, they do wonderful work and we donate money and items to them regularly. Thanks for including the pictures of Jewel, Toby and Dorian in your intro post, they are beautiful greys.
  2. Why don't you make a new thread and introduce yourself Loanmanken and tell us about yourself and your grey if you have one.
  3. Birdnut is right, you need to distribute posters in a 360 degree circle from where you live for he could be in any direction no matter what side of the building he left from, sounds like if my bird was missing I would want someone like Birdnut to live close to me for she has given you some excellent advice and knows the area.
  4. I know it sounds like a broken record and you are right, the pet shop owner who sold you the grey is the one that I would like to have a few words with but as long as people will buy them that way then they get away with it. You will find those threads at the beginning of the nursery room and I do commend you for reading all you can so you can give the best start you can give to your new grey baby, we want the same thing you do, a healthy happy african grey.
  5. Purple is my favorite color and scary, no way but I hope Claire is having a good time, hopefully she will come on and let us know soon.
  6. I'm hoping you have some good news for us soon that Mino has been found.
  7. I doubt he will pack on many more grams as he is already at the weight he will be, he will probably lose a little when he fledges as they always do then it stabilizes.
  8. Sindi, all these questions are exactly why we prefer breeders to keep the babies until they are weaned for this is best left to those who are skilled but enough of the criticism, just wanted to get that clear. Have you read thru the threads in the nursery room for you will find the answers to most of your questions there, most of them are stickys so have a read thru. Almost forgot, welcome to our family and we would love to see some pictures of your baby grey.
  9. I don't know about the flight, you would have to make arrangements for him to travel in the cabin if possible as the cargo area would be too cold for him but he would be fine in a travel cage for a few days. I take my Josey with me when I go visit my son and his family but it is a 4 hour car trip and she does just fine, she sits and chatters and rings her bell on the trip and then I get her out some while I am there but not for long periods of time, for just a few days it is ok but for longer stays something bigger would be better. Your biggest problem is going to be getting him on the plane as some airlines don't allow pets in the cabin.
  10. Hello Ivan and welcome to our family, you have a greyt looking grey there, Capo is adorable, thanks for including the pictures in your intro post.
  11. If that is his true weight he is going to be on the larger side of the average weight for Cags and he is a handsome fella.
  12. Believe me, its not worth the trouble, not enough meat to do anything with!! I wish I had a dollar for every laptop ruined by an african grey, I could retire in style!
  13. Cocoa is well.................Cocoa, its what she does best, entertain us, thanks for sharing.
  14. Supplements are not needed if you feed a well balanced diet with plenty of vegetables, grains, legumes, a little fruit, seeds, nuts and occasional meat, eggs and pellets and it is easy to overdose.
  15. I allow all three of my birds on my shoulder even my grey as she will behave herself and comes down when asked and that is the important thing, if you have a bird that just wants to nibble on your ears and other features of your face then you are better off not allowing it and the sooner the better as they get more set in their ways as they get mature. Some people are just not comfortable with their grey on their shoulder and if that is the case then shoulder sitting is a no no, you have to be comfortable with it.
  16. I'd say that since he has been with you only a short time it might have something to do with the adjustment to the new surroundings, did you change anything else in their environment? It could just be a temporary thing but maybe some of the more knowledgeable members will have some more ideas and suggestions for you.
  17. Raven, you have to understand that thread was started in 2006, thats more than 4 1/2 years ago, that argument is long forgotten by now.
  18. Wow just look at all that snow, I love the one with the icicles hanging from the roof, thats more snow than I would want to have to deal with but it does paint a pretty picture, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  19. Thanks Birdnut, you could prove to be invaluable to help Wzhang locate Mino.
  20. I am sorry to hear you have lost your grey but looking for him is the same whether you live in a skyscraper or a single family home, put the word out and notify all the tenants of the building that he is missing and put up posters all around for your chances of getting him back will greatly intensify if you have a network of lots of people on the lookout for him. We do have a few threads here with some ideas of what you can do to help your chances of finding him and maybe some you hadn't thought of so far, they are in the rescue room. Please keep us informed and by all means let us know if you do find him for it makes us all worry when one of our tender souls is missing.
  21. I have one exactly like that, a great playstand.
  22. That looks like a great playstand, no wonder Jack enjoys it so much, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  23. I don't have an inside dog but just wanted to comment on how you maintain supervision of the dog with your grey, they may appear to get along great but you can never take the chance that one day given the opportunity that something bad might happen, glad to hear you are making it work for you.
  24. We have had a skiff of snow here with some sleet but most of it is gone now, heard the northern states are gearing for more snow after the few feet they already have, learn to live with it, would love to see some pictures of the deep snow though Ray.
