Them little baby tiels are so adorable and I love the names you gave them, can't wait to see them grown up, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  3. Are you kidding? That is one of the best games they love to play, mimic a sound that makes you come running only to find out it was your grey, better get used to it!
  4. You have a very nice looking flock of greys and they look like they are having a wonderful time getting along with one another, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  5. That is a lovely grey in your avatar, he is gorgeous.

  6. Hello Shara and welcome to our family, so glad you could take in this grey and give him a new forever home. The others have given you some excellent advice as it takes time for a new to you grey especially one that is mature to settle into a new environment, be very patient with him and let his set the pace for interacting with you for if you try to rush things it will only backfire on you. You must gain his trust to bond with him and that could take a while depending on how he was treated in his previous home or homes. Please read thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. We love pictures here so if you have some of him you would share with us we would appreciate it. BTW, what is his name?
  7. Audi is such a cutie and Mocha thinks oh boy a new playtoy!
  8. Hello Sterls and welcome to our family, I am so glad to hear you want to own a grey and I commend you for doing the research to learn all you can before you finally open your home and your heart for one of these magnificent creatures. You can start by reading thru the many threads as you will find lots of useful information from the best source, actual grey owners, nothing beats actual experience and you will come across many stories of their antics and accomplishments. Greys are known for being one of the best talkers but they have so much more to offer, even if they never uttered a word they will keep you amused and entertained. I have to say you must have a good head on your shoulders for many young people who decide to get something want it now and do not like waiting for it but if everyone who considers getting a bird would take the time to do the research before plunging in head first then we wouldn't have so many birds in need of being rehomed or rescued.
  9. Jan I am so sorry about your recent losses, its hard losing a mother but you have lost your mother-in-law also but sadly we all must meet this fate. I just saw this live web of the eagle on her nest and while I cannot view it at work I will when I get home, what an experience to be able to watch the miracle of nature so thanks for sharing the link with us.
  10. That to me looks like an awful lot of red and it has been there for 4 days or you have had the grey for 4 days? I think you should have that checked out by an avian vet, its always a good idea to have a new bird vet checked anyways so go for it and let us know what you find out. You can introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more about you and your grey baby.
  11. He could have cut his tongue or the side of his beak on that tape if it is the kind I am thinking of and it may be a good idea to take him in to see the vet, he shouldn't be that quiet for so long and turning his back to you is another sign something is not right.
  12. She is molting out a few of her flight feathers as they don't all molt out at the same time, usually several on both sides will fall out and be replaced before several more will fall out, the tail feathers will do the same, this is to ensure that they stay capable of flight in the wild as they cannot lose all the flights at the same time. Check soon to see if there are pins coming in to replace those that fell out.
  13. He/she is certainly more alert in the second batch of pics, what a cutie, keep up the progression of pics so we can see the development into a full fledged tiel, thanks for sharing them with us.
  14. That sounds good but don't forget that food will be an ongoing expense and you need to have some for vet bills as those can get pretty expensive depending on how extensive you want to do tests.

I have always fed Josey the Harrisons pellets and she readily eats them, I have avoided the ones colored up for I have always hesitated about what they use to color them up. Lori, why do you say that a lot of the members here do not like www.drsfostersmith.com? I order from them on a regular basis.
  16. That is just too cute and you have got to get us a picture of that if at all possible, what they won't do for a bit of cheese, thanks for sharing that with us.
  17. So Bigbird are you still considering getting this grey? I think if you have the patience you will be able to make a good relationship with this bird for we all agree that lots of time will be needed and along with that patience is your next best friend. We have seen the story of greys who have been mistreated, they no longer trust humans and they lash out and bite whoever comes anywhere near them go on to become the friendliest and sweetest birds you will ever know but it can be a long drawn out process. But if you are willing to invest the time it takes whether it be months or years then I think you will be rewarded with a wonderful companion and what could be sweeter than that.
  18. I love all these wet amazons but I will stick with admiring others rather than wanting one of my own, some good entries so far so it will be a tough decision.
  19. Josey is going on 5 and she has never had a beak trim, most greys keep their beaks in fine order by rubbing them on rough surfaces and may never need to be filed down, now her talons are another story in itself, ouch!
  20. Those are so funny and so true Janet, thanks for giving me a great laugh today.
  21. Have you seen those little crockpots they sell? If so then one of them would make an excellent vessel for putting anywhere in the house you need it, as long as you have a plug in then you are good to go.
  22. Congrats on getting Simon in his new forever home, Simon is adjusting to his new home so it doesn't surprise me he didn't eat much but he will soon enough, give him some time to settle in and feel comfortable. Even though he is stuck in another room away from the other fids he needs lots of attention and time out of his cage until he can finally come and join the rest of his flock. Has he been vet checked yet? If not then have that done and if you get a clean bill of health then you can move him into the living room.
  23. I think he may have been a little older than 7 weeks in those pics but I have no doubt that he is adorable, he is one awesome grey then as he is now, thanks for sharing them with us.
