  1. Happy Hatchday Kito, my how time flies when you are having fun and you are just getting started, still a baby yet at 2 years but you are a pretty thing and maybe Mommy will indulge us with some newer pics, hint hint.
  2. We have an exterminator service do the outside of the house and we no longer have any ant problems, they will also do the inside but I don't allow them to spray anything inside the house as it may not be bird safe, it is not inexpensive but worth it in my opinion.
  3. What a cutie Sanggay, I see you are still using car models for names and this one is getting used to the harness early, can't wait to see this one fully fledged, thanks for sharing Chevy with us.

    Food Photos

Nice post Mr T and yes you just have to experiment as some like their veggies finely chopped, some mashed, some in larger pieces or whatever, just keep trying until you hit a winner but that mash is great for giving them a variety.
  5. Doug, I use black sheets that I purchased at Walmart, I got the king size for Josey's cage as it is the biggest, they can be easily washed and last a long time unless one bird gets to chewing on it but so far mine are just fine, no use spending lots of money on fancy ones.
  6. Congrats Stevie on your wedding and of course the fids missed ya, thats what makes it so special when you come home after a few days or weeks absense, hope you brought them presents.
  7. Hello Mr T and welcome to our family, so glad you found us and you have a beautiful macaw, such gorgeous colors and I look forward to seeing more of the macaw and of course the grey and too.
  8. Buddy is a greyt looking grey and so glad you could give her a new home, as the others have said just give her time to settle into her new home and she may need some help in learning to play with toys, you might help that along by playing with them yourself and show her what fun you are having with them. Thanks for sharing some pics of Buddy with us and let the good times roll.
  9. That looks nice, we may want you to do a demonstration on how easy it is to make one of these playstands at one of the bird club meetings, remember its this Tuesday, September 13 at the church listed.
  10. He looks like a real sweetheart and you are doing the right thing to let him just settle into his new home and see how it goes for a while but it sounds to me like he is going to become a permanent fixture in your home, thanks for sharing some pics of him with us.
  11. Hello Braveheartdogs and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you want to adopt a Tag and give it a new forever home, be sure to let us know how the visit goes.
  12. Yes Shania, breeder birds do usually shun the attention of their owners, they want privacy for they are bonded to one another and not to a human. This is so adorable of these two greys responding to one another but like others have cautioned I would keep a good watch out when they are together for it only takes a second for something bad to happen, love the pictures though Rana.
  13. I am going to chime in with another vote for cockatiels for the one I have is friendly toward other people who come into our home, she doesn't bite and will go to them in short time whereas my conure will take to some people and not others but she usually doesn't like young children for they are too loud and move quickly. I never used to be a fan of tiels until one landed in my backyard last summer and couldn't find her owners so I kept her, she is very nosy and loves to check out things around the house, she is an excellent flyer and is very quiet, a lot of personality in a small bird.
  14. This thread bothers me a lot, why even get a bird when you have no room for a cage inside your house and keeping it outside is no answer especially as the cold weather comes and don't even get me started on the use of a leg band to keep your bird on a playstand, I feel for this bird.
  15. I think when the time is right you will know it and I have to commend you for realizing it might not be the best thing right now, after all the birds you have now must come first but do the research to make sure you can give one of these creatures a good home, if it is meant to be it will happen.
  16. Yes he has changed but still a pretty bird, reminds me of my tiel hopping from one perch to another when she wants out but I doubt that he will change much from now on but compare again when he is thru with another molt and see.
  17. Josey will talk in either my voice or my hubby's, it just depends on what she says but she definitely laughs like me.

    Claws

I allow my vet to dremel Josey's talons when she goes in for a checkup but I don't clip or file her talons down, she does a pretty good job keeping them not too needle like by using her rough perches, if placed correctly they do keep them down some.
  19. Its just something greys do as mine still does it from time to time and she is 5 years old, sometimes it means come and get me when she sees me at the computer and she wants to share some time with me, nothing to worry about.
  20. Congrats on Aristotle being a male, the name says it all.
  21. Not one of my fids bother my feet, for one thing they are not in the floor in the first place but they pay no attention to them, guess I am lucky.
  22. Pikachu, you sound like a worrywart, you don't need to fret about what you can't control, you always hear about the awful ones but these are just a few of the many thousands out there that are healthy and fine, you do your research and plan the best you can and hope for the best. Dave has given you some excellent advice and keep reading the threads as you will learn a lot before you bring Maui home.
  23. Hello Griffin's People and welcome to our family, so glad you finally decided to join us and we look forward to hearing lots more about you and Griffin. He is a handsome little fella and looks to be spoiled rotten, loves his head scratched as most do and he sounds like he is a real sweetheart. He has an awesome aviary, the envy of most of us, I assume it is a homemade one, it looks nice and I wished I had one like it, my hubby could do it but he is so busy with other things he doesn't have time but I am gonna see what I can do about that. Thanks for sharing the pictures and video with us.

    New CAG Bite

You have to give him some time to settle into his new home, after all he is in entirely new surroundings and it takes a while to build the trust with him, allow him to make decisions on his own, when he wants to come out of his cage, allow him to come completely out of his cage before trying to get him to step up as some view their cage as their safe zone and do not like any intrusions. Get down in the floor with a couple of foot toys and pretend you are having a good time with them to encourage him to want to come and join in, if he does give him a treat but do not force yourself on him, if you see signs that he is unhappy with you trying to touch him before he is ready then back off and allow more time, some take longer than others as they each have their own personality. Some handle their new grey right off the bat and others take some time to be able to handle them, let your grey give you the cue.
  25. Thanks for giving us an update on Timmy, you have been absent for quite a while, guess life is still busy but please do try to stop in more often and let us know what Timmy is up to but it looks like he is doing just fine so keep up the good work.
