I love the one of her into the pet door, she is an adorable bird, thanks for sharing the pics with us.

I think Timmy has surprised you with what he has accomplished in the year you have had him, it speaks highly of how you have welcomed him into your home and your heart, all it takes is lots of love and patience, you were skeptical at first and somewhat impatient but we told you time is on your side and he has become a wonderful companion to you and your family, keep up the good work and keep us up to date on what is going on in your and Timmy's life.

I usually leave the radio on for my fids when I am gone at work but since my hubby's accident he has been home and has the tv on, good thing for the radio station I usually leave it on has already started playing Christmas music, seems it happens every year a little bit earlier, mind you I like Christmas music but not so early, maybe by Thanksgiving but not 2 weeks before. I hope you can get Timmy's rendition of "Jingle Bells" and share it with us.

That is an adorable picture of Talon sitting there in that bowl, what a ham she is or maybe she was just trying to give you a hint that you should cook something in that bowl, thanks for sharing that pic with us, she is a hoot.

Thats a great playstand, I love the ones with natural branches and I think they are a favorite with our fids too, some of our members have made their own playstands out of wood gathered from their property, at least the ones who are handy with their hands, I am not one of them so have store bought all of mine.

Hello Chad and welcome to our family, you are right in that you do not have to own a grey to be a part of our forum. George is a handsome fella and I was going to say that looked like a small amazon, I was not aware that there were any that were that small but you learn something new every day, looks like a real sweetheart of a bird. Please do share more pictures of George in the amazon room and tell us more about him and your other birds too while you are at it.

They look good together there on that perch, probably somewhat like mine in that they tolerate each other as long as each stays out of the other's space but they are watched when they are close by one another, thanks for sharing the pic with us.

Welcome back Eileen and it seems the crisis is over, just some time to correct whatever was causing him to fear you but greys can be fickle but glad to hear all is well and Quinn is enjoying his strolls and scratches again.

My son and his wife gave me a pair of finches one year for Christmas about 10 years ago or more and they produced babies that I shared with family, they were a delight to have but you cannot handle finches much and I wanted a bird I could hold and play with so I did my research and decided to get a conure, larger than finches but not the big birds that macaws are. I settled on a sun conure and found some babies I could pick from and took her home when she was fully weaned. I went for a while with just her then I decided that one more wouldn't be any more trouble and in the meantime I had joined a bird club and saw other kind of birds and decided I wanted a grey, certainly the prospect that it could talk weighed heavily in the decision but if she didn't talk at all then I would love her just the same. A grey is lots different from a conure but I wanted something different and something about the greys is what draws me to them and I have never regretted a day since I brought her into my home and my heart, she is loved and talks up a storm. Now in the meantime I had been thinking a lot of getting another bird but what kind is the question at the time, well lo and behold one just showed up in my backyard last summer, a cockatiel and I couldn't find her owner so I kept her, so the decision was made for me but she is a wonderful bird, very quiet compared to my conure but she is loved all the same and they each have their own cage but occupy a corner section of my family room and they join in the goings on as flock members should.

Happy Hatchday Quinn, what a special boy you are to get to go on outings with your parront and apparently everyone you met today knew you were special too, hope you have many many more to come. A lot of us use photobucket but there are other photo hosting sites and some post their pics directly into their posts but I am not one of them but maybe one of the other members will help you with that.

Ah we finally have a couple shots of the elusive Phenix, no camera is going to keep him from enjoying that drink, now you know what you have to do to get a few pics of him, thanks for sharing them with us.

Now that is a very colorful little bird, looks to have every color of the rainbow in it, thanks for sharing it with us.

Louie has been around for over a year!!!!

Remember Janet, good things come to those who wait and you just haven't waited long enough yet. -
Usually greys have several times a day they are vocal but they can be chatty any time during the day, I guess you have one that doesn't know when to quit, I have a sun conure who doesn't talk but she is vocal during the day. Maybe your grey is trying to get your attention. I see this is your first post, why not introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us more about yourself and your fids, how many, what species, how old, names and so forth.

All these grey videos are so funny to watch and listen to, each one is different, glad your grey loves peanut butter for every time I offer it to Josey she turns her beak up at it but my sun conure is another story, she would eat peanut butter until she popped.

I just bought a couple of those sandy perches that are smooth on the upper side and sandy rough on the sides where the talons would be, they are supposed to be better for their feet for some of those rough perches can be hard to perch on for any length of time, cement ones can be irritating to their feet if used for long periods of time.

A good way to get your grey to eat something is to eat some yourself and act like it tastes heavenly, when they see you eat something they want it also, a good way to get them to try something new and different. The green beans can be raw or cooked, see which way she prefers them.

I agree with Dan, I think they do mellow out a bit as they get older but I have a grey that is nervous and easily spooked and she has always been this way, she is leery of anything new and if you go by her cage with something out of the ordinary she will be afraid but she is more accepting of my hubby now, she will allow him to give her kisses and sometimes goes on his shoulder and she used to not want anything to do with him, it might have helped that he is the one who usually gives her a little bit of cheddar cheese occasionally.
-
Yummy, my birds like pecans too but I haven't given them the ones in the shell, I usually give them shelled but I guess I could make them work a little harder to get it out of the shell.

I think you will win Louie over one day Janet, I know a year is a long time but he looks like he wants to accept your hand but still is hesitant, keep working at it and I think you will succeed in getting him to at least step up for you, thanks for sharing the video with us. -
You can if you like but its not necessary as they will be able to break thru that with ease, just be sure to wash all veggies you buy from the store as you don't know what might have been in contact with them.

Rocky sounds like a perfect name for this amazon. I have to comment on what you said about the hair dryer, I hope you are not using that to dry Rocky off for it is better to allow birds to dry naturally, using a dryer will only dry their skin out and you don't want that.
-
They are perfectly fine for our fids and you can offer the sugar snap ones that are meant to be eaten pod and all as they love them.
-
Some greys are closet talkers, they won't talk in the presence of anyone, you will have to sneak back to hear what he/she is saying. I don't think the fake parrot will work, they repeat what they hear and he/she would only be scared of it. I am not that familiar with Dr. Pepperberg's method of training but if you are reading her material then it should give a good idea of how to go about it.

You can find both the juice and jel at Walmart in the pharmacy department, the juice is with other digestive upset items and the jel may be with first aid items or tanning products.
