Hello Ismail and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. Twix is a gorgeous grey whether male or female, thanks for including a pic with your intro post. You have come to the right place to learn all you can by reading thru the many threads, it is firsthand knowledge from experienced grey owners but if you have any questions just ask and we will do our best to help you in any way we can.

How sad he is missing and I hope you get him back but in the meantime you are caring for someone else's grey so out there is another person looking for their bird, I hope both birds find their rightful owners soon.
-
Our bird club helps support this organization with donations from our annual bird fair, thanks Dave for sharing that vid with us.
-
A very adorable grey and early to wrap you around his little talons.
-
No worries as I just simply moved the thread to the proper room. Roxie is gorgeous especially when wet, thanks for sharing them with us.

Wow how exciting is that, be sure to get some pics to share with us and we want to hear all about the visit.

Introducing Penny and Jill...Lurkers no more!
judygram replied to JillG's topic in Welcome & Introduction Room
Hello Jill and welcome to our family and welcome to Penny, now we have a human Penny and a grey Penny. Sounds like you are a slave to a grey but then we all are. Looking forward to seeing some pics of Penny when you get around to it. -
I have taken Josey to work with me before and she does just fine, there are not too many people where I work, she stays in her travel cage with a little out of cage time and she rides well so give it a go and see how it works out.

So Nancy is your partner in crime, have I been replaced? We do respect Dave but we love his sense of humor.

Hello Crsweat and welcome to our family, so glad you could give this grey a new forever home. You put the cart before the horse so to speak but you have come to the right place to learn all you can and you can start by reading thru the many threads for lots of useful information and do ask questions no matter how silly they may seem, we have pretty much heard them all, and we will help you in any way we can. Do you have any other birds? What is this grey's name? We would love to see some pictures of this bird if you would share some with us.

Josey does the imitations also of bodily sounds and that includes farts, after all we all do them but most would deny that they did, I always say it feels better out than in but enough of that. Josey also does a sigh when my hubby enters the room for he does that, must be a sigh of relief that he is finally going to sit down and rest for a bit.

Welcome back Tracie and it has been quite a while since you last posted. I see Lilo is still a handfull and I did make the right decision to let someone else handle him but you are quite right that he was spoiled, waited on hand and foot and was too much for me at the time. He was a lot calmer than my grey and handled grandchildren running past his cage better than Josey does, sorry to hear he is plucking now but that is how some of them handle stress. I do think of him from time to time and wondered how he was doing and now we know. Would love to see some pics of him and Chicken too.

You have not even had the bird for very long and it takes time for a grey to settle into a new home and much too early to know if she has a favorite yet, besides there is not anything you can do to make her change her mind if she does like him better, give her plenty of time and be patient with her during the readjustment period and you may be surprised. Don't let her see your disappointment, just treat her the same as if you had been the chosen one.

Wonderful pictures as always, Cocoa is the best model and you do her justice, I would imagine that the camera is like a permanent fixture to your hand by now, thanks for sharing them with us.

Maybe your Mother needs to put something on her head that will keep Took from chasing her for fear of the object, we have some members here who have had to put things up in places they don't want their bird to be like on door facings because they chew the woodwork, it sounds silly but it might work as a temporary fix until you get it all sorted.

I feed Harrison's High Potency pellets which is recommended by a lot of avian vets but there are a lot of good products on the market and you may have to experiment with several to see which ones he prefers. -
If you don't react to the train noise when it happens he will get used to it, he may copy it and play it back for his own pleasure which could be annoying but they learn to live with the noise just as you have learned to do yourself, don't sweat the small stuff.

I too am a grey owner who is over 60 years old, my grey is 5 and 1/2 years old and she will outlive me but I give her the best life I can and know that she will go on to another good home when the time comes. It seems to me you really want to include Mai Tai in your life and you are over analyzing the situation, you can give him a good home so give him your best effort for he sounds like a sweetheart.

How much out of cage time does he get each day? He needs several hours minimum and he does want to be with the rest of his flock which includes you his family.
-
I am saddened to hear you need to rehome Cedric but he is set in his ways and probably needs someone who understands greys to give him what he needs and wants. I think it will have to be someone who has a lot of time to work with him and it might just be that there is someone out there that can help him have a happier life. I wish you much luck with your search.

Dave has given you some great advice and it is hard to tell exactly what you will have to deal with because each bird is an individual. I would use this time to read and research all you can before that day comes when your baby comes home but the main thing is to take your time and be very patient with your baby and let him/her dictate when they are ready for interaction. If you get any pictures of your new baby please consider sharing them with us as we love to look at the babies.

Exactly, if this is upsetting you then it upsets him too so just take care of yourself and when your voice is back to normal then Sam will be back to his old self, hope you feel better soon.
-
If there is a lot of drama to these biting sessions then no wonder he is doing it but I don't know if clipping the wings will solve anything, it will keep him from flying at her but I don't think it will stop the biting, we need an expert's advice here but Barbara Heidenreich's site is a good place to start.

Hello Neverkall and welcome to our family and congrats on giving this grey a new forever home. If he hasn't been in your home very long then yes it takes lots of time and much patience on your part to gain his trust and you have to earn it as it is not freely given. This could take weeks, months or even a year to establish that bond that will serve as the basis of your relationship so give him plenty of time to settle into his new life. After all he is in an entirely new environment, new owners, new house and everything and he may be somewhat scared and that could have caused him to pluck but don't fret over it for they can feel our emotions so if you make a big deal out of it then it might make it worse. He probably needs to be vet checked to see if he is healthy and if there is any physical reason for the plucking. Its good you read the threads dealing with what they can and cannot eat, you can offer him some pellets as most of us feed it as part of their daily diet, lots of vegetables, grains, legumes, rice and some pasta. For right now just keep a distance so you do not get bitten but do speak softly to him and offer him some treats, let him come out of his cage on his own and let him dictate when he is ready for interaction. Be sure to read the thread on understanding body language as it will serve you well. You are headed in the right direction so take your time and be very patient with him and you will reap the rewards. -
How a 'routine' vet visit turns into an emergency.

Oh my what a story and what a parront you are, of course it is hard to see such minor changes when you see them on a daily basis, it was so gradual it was hardly noticeable but there it was. I see from your last post that she is doing better, at least her acid level has dropped dramatically so hopefully the worse is over. Please keep us informed on Anya's progress.
