  1. Hello Kim and welcome to our family, looking forward to hearing lots more about you and Elle May. Just some questions to get to know you better; is this your first grey, is this your first bird, do you have any human kids? I know full well the waiting can be horrendous but so well worth it when it finally arrives, something akin to Christmas morning but that will be all forgotten when the day comes that Elle May comes into your home and the real fun begins, that is when the questions will start but not to worry as all you have to do is ask and we shall do our best to give you some answers. We love pictures so please feel free to indulge us with a few if you have any to share.
  2. Thats a great looking stand you made with Matt and I hope it works out to solve your problem with allowing Talon to be able to enjoy her meals with you and the family, looking forward to hearing how it goes. Hierarchy is more determined by their personality than size, it's whoever is the more dominant of the group that will rule the roost so to speak as in my case it is Sunny, my sun conure who is the more aggressive of my flock and she is much smaller than Josey, my cag but she is much more feisty than the other two birds of mine plus she was the first so thats her place.
  3. I saw this on my home page the other day and it doesn't surprise me as crows are very smart, we have found they will pull up corn in our garden in the spring when the new shoots come thru the ground, smart enough to know there is a kernal of corn on the other end so we end up having to put up scarecrows to keep them away until the shoots get big enough they can no longer pull up, this is one smart cookie and had a little fun with whatever he had, thanks Dan for sharing it with us.
  4. Hello Zandra and welcome to our family, so glad you could give these birds a new forever home, bless you.
  5. Happy Birthday to you, hope you have a wonderful one today.

  6. That really brings it all home doesn't it, thanks for sharing that with us Cathy.
  7. Dayo doing the bat imitations, I love to see them hanging upside down enjoying their toys, at least he was doing this one quietly as a lot of times they are accompanied by those pre historic screams, thanks for sharing it with us Dan.
  8. Its an orbit, if you google it you might find where you can order one.
  9. This is short steps Janet and the day will come he will step up and stay on your hand, you should be very proud of yourself as you have come a long way with Louie, you can see he wants to but just isn't ready yet but he will soon.
  10. That is nice you are able to take your birds out and about, I doubt they would allow any in restaurants or eating places here because of possible food contamination but you really should be rethinking the idea of taking them outside like that even with the wings clipped, there have been many birds who took flight and flew away never to be seen again because they had the false sense of security that with clipped wings they couldn't fly off. If given the proper wind and something spooks them they will do what comes natural to prey birds, they try to take flight and maybe succeed. I would hate to have you lose one of them because of that, something to think about. I enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing it with us.
  11. Yeah back then they didn't have the "green thing" but then it wasn't needed until now, wonder why!!
  12. Thats a big haul of toys and I see in the first pic you bought one of those step up perches with the hand saver of a coconut half, bet that will be of use with Nilah, well at least you won't have to buy any toys for a while, maybe then your credit card will have had time to recover. Some of those you bought I have seen before but some are new to me, makes me want to come up and check them out which I will do sometime.
  13. I so loved the second video of the lorikeet and another bird that was dancing and hopping around, so cute, thanks for sharing them with us.
  14. I must see and visit this store some day, I would spend the whole day just looking over all the merchandise and playing with the birds, I would not bring one home but it would just be such an adventure to see such a big place devoted to just birds and their stuff, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  15. You are very talented Joe and thanks for sharing it with us.
  16. I saw this posted on facebook and had to share with you all as it is the honest truth. If you have ever wondered why I love the birds so much, letme explain: 1. They're easy to please. As long as they have the foods, toys, care, and housing they need, they're pretty content. They never tell yousomething you've done wasn't good enough. 2. They're easy to understand. If they bite, they don't likewhat you're doing. There's no games, no guessing, no silent treatment, and nohurtful words or actions. 3. They're easy to let into your heart. They never make youfeel badly about yourself, never say you're lazy, stupid, fat, ugly. They nevertake back their affection: you either have it, or you don't. 4. They don't judge you. You're never wearing the wrongskirts, it never matters what your hair looks like, and that extra 10 poundsisn't a reason to take away their affection. 5. They're never too angry to talk to you, or so angrythey're mean. They're actions are always preceded by an antecedent. If you getbit, its because you didn't pay attention to the signals, not because you madethe wrong ham for dinner..
  17. Today is Beau's hatchday, he is the grey owned by Julie aka Joolesgreyuk, she won't be coming on here to announce it so I am doing if for her. She used to be active in this forum but no longer has time for it but is friends with some of the members here and on facebook. Beau turned 3 years old today and will be royally spoiled rotten on his special day. Happy Hatchday Beau and hope to see you again later this year.
  18. Cocoa is such a beautiful subject and you know how to bring out that beauty in your pictures whether in black and white or full color, she is a magnificent creature and thanks so much for indulging us with her beauty.

    Nutribird

You can also put some red palm oil in some oatmeal and spoon feed it, most greys like oatmeal. I feed Josey Harrisons High Potency fine pellets.
  20. You have some smart birdies there, I especially love Marley's tricks you have taught him, thanks for sharing them with us.
  21. Wow I am proud of you Penny, you didn't bring a new bird home but you got a lot of goodies for the ones you have, they should count themselves lucky for the haul you brought them, can't wait to see what you got and I am still going to visit that store one day, will be an overnight visit.
  22. Hello Pkwjr and welcome to our family and congrats on taking in a rescued grey. I agree with the idea of a separate sleep cage since you are up late at night but I would put a little food in the sleep cage for greys are foragers meaning they eat at any time during the day and he might want a snack during the night, it doesn't have to be much but something in case he gets hungry. The travel cage would be an excellent sleep cage and it will come in handy if you have to take him to the vet or just out and about as I would recommend anyway, they need some sun and fresh air just like us. Can't wait to see some pictures and does he have a name yet?
  23. Hello Dario and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. Is Tango still your mother's bird or has he taken to you as his preferred one? We have lots of members here who brought a grey into their life that prefers another member of the family other than the one who purchased him/her as greys can be fickle about who they like best. Its not always the one who does all the feeding, cleaning of the cage and spending time with the bird but most do get along with other members of the family so it usually all works out. We do love pictures here so if you have some more of Tango you would share with us we would love to see them.
  24. Hello Zephyr and welcome to our family, congrats on your new grey baby and from the pics you shared it is an adorable one, know you can't wait to bring her home to begin her new life with you. Baby greys are so precious and that first pic is a winner in my book, who could not fall in love with her after seeing that and we look forward to seeing lots more pics of your precious Hattie.
  25. Hello Bianca and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing lots more about you and your fids. Your english is fine, we can tell that it is translated for some words are different but we get the meaning. You seem mature for your age compared to some other 16 year olds I know but you know what you want and go and do it, very responsible I must say, your parents should be proud. Did you make that tree playstand? It is a great looking one and your fids must have a wonderful time on it.
