  1. I am afraid the world is made up of all kinds of people and this is just a perfect example of some of the lowest, so sorry for that poor dog.
  2. Thanks Chelsea for asking about Kirby as I was just wondering how she was doing. I am glad to hear you are doing all you can for this dog, not everyone would or could be so devoted to her.
  3. I am sure Archimedes has a valid reason for why he does this but it seems he is the only one who knows what it is, interesting.
  4. Its too soon for us to have hummingbirds here yet but with the mild winter we had it wouldn't surprise me if they come early, keeping a sharp eye out for any.
  5. They looked chewed off, now whether they are molted out and your grey helped remove them or they are plucked out but the ends are chewed off. Have you seen any bald patches on your bird? We need some more information before we can be of any help to you.
  6. Joe and Val, no one is attacking you personally so please stay and remain an active part of this forum as I would miss you both.
  7. Hello Kim and welcome to our family, so sorry your intro post went unnoticed for a few days but please don't judge us on one mistake as that almost never happens. So glad to hear you are going to welcome a new grey into your flock and family, yes they are different from other birds but then they all have their problems but you should be well informed after reading thru a lot of the material here. You have quite a family there in your pets and a Cag will make a nice addition, looking forward to seeing more pictures and more about yourself.
  8. Hello Ozzie and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. The others have given you some good advice, allow your baby to adjust to her new home, let her come out when she is ready so as not to push her to do anything she is not comfortable with. Time and patience will serve you well when working with greys. We love pictures here so if you have some of Lucy you would share with us that would be great.
  9. Congrats Memory on your new grey, looking forward to seeing some pictures soon.
  10. I loved this video and the music was good although I would have liked to have heard what the birdies were saying but it was an excellent opportunity for those flighted fids to get some excercise without the danger of being outside, thanks for sharing it with us.

    Grey Sexes

Some people claim that the males have a flatter type head and females have a V pattern underneath the tail section but the only true way besides having them undergo surgery is to do a dna test.
  12. How sweet is that, so glad they are getting along good, you really have to be careful of what you say but it sounds like Missy is one smart cookie.
  13. I have seen several articles about this rare flightless parrot, the one that comes to mind every time I see a picture is the one where it climbed up on a man's neck and shagged his head scratching him but he was doing some kind of mating dance, they are a little odd looking but gorgeous birds.
  14. Mark you wouldn't have to look too far to find some budgies if you miss them that much but I too enjoy hearing the sounds of the birds outside.
  15. Molly is adorable, she looks like one spoiled fid, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
  16. If you don't want him on your shoulder then you will have to block him when he tries to go there, when he is on one arm and going for the shoulder put your other arm over and block him and continue to do so, he has probably been allowed to shoulder sit before and it will be difficult to prevent him from going there. Also when he is flying to you and he goes for the shoulder or the head put your arm up to block him enough to divert him away from you.
  17. Hello MisterGoofy and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. Well this behavior is a little unusual but something happened to make him react to you that way, it could have been anything, even something you would not have noticed but he did. Maybe he was not feeling well or something was hurting him or maybe it was just a phase he was going thru and now it is over and done with. I only have experience with one grey but we have some members who have more than one so maybe one of them will have a better idea of what may have been going on. Bet you are glad he is back to his old self, I can imagine you are worrying that it may happen again but at least you kept the same routine with him and when he was ready he went back to his normal self.
  18. Hello Abigail and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. You will learn a lot from reading thru the many threads, the members here are very helpful and likely some of the same problems that show up for you and Ziggy will have already been covered in them but don't hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. So glad to hear you did your research before making the decision to bring a grey into your life and your home so you know what you are getting yourself into and will be better prepared for what is to come. We love pictures here so if you have some of Ziggy you would share with us we would appreciate it.
  19. Your grey can indeed hurt your conure, I have a sun conure along with my grey and they do not get along so I keep some distance between them, they are out at the same time but just ignore each other for the most part. You should never leave them close together even if they do get along, one of mine is on my shoulder most of the time and the grey is on her cage or a playstand. It is important to bathe them regularly and if you have to mist them to get them wet then do it no matter that they complain, they will stop when it is over and then they will preen and feel better for it.
  20. Hello Hamda and welcome to our site, we are glad you found us and hope to hear lots more about you, your grey and those two ringnecks. You will learn a lot from the members here as you browse thru the threads, as you can see all kinds of questions have been asked so if you have any please feel free to ask any and all and we will help you in any way we can. Would love to see some pictures of your flock, we have an other birds room where you can post some of the ringnecks.
  21. Yes I have heard of the site and almost ordered from them but found cheaper options elsewhere, sorry to hear you are having problems with them but maybe they will get it corrected and shipped to you soon.
  22. I have a sun conure along with my cag and tiel and the conure can be a screamer but not all the time, she has her times she is more vocal than others but she is a delight to have around, she was my first parrot. A sun conure will eventually have the most bright and beautiful feathers when they molt a time or two, she is like a ray of sunshine. If you don't mind a little screaming now and then you should enjoy one.
  23. Joe I can see how people may have reacted to your statement that you took in a wild caught bird and even though I am totally against this practice I am glad you gave Mikko a good home but this is exactly why this practice continues, as long as there is someone who will buy them they will continue to go out into the forests and capture these birds who were meant to be free. If everyone who wants a grey will only go the route of breeders then this market will only continue to go on. End of lecture. I think what you have done with Mikko is great but it has been a long slow process that continues but I don't think he will ever forget the wild.
  24. Dan is right, enjoy it while it lasts for most become more independent as they get older and no longer allow cuddling, Josey used to allow me to cuddle her but no longer but you might be one of the lucky few who may get to enjoy it for a long time.
