  1. I have always wanted a toucan. When looking into it, I was told they were very messy and had many different requirements than my greys, so I changed my mind. But it is my pipe dream to own one, so.....I will live it by reading everything I can about yours! I enjoy it so much!
  2. Hi Nancy, I understand your feelings. My birds were out most of every day, then life happened, and I needed to take on 2 more jobs. I am working full time now, with misc. hours. I was worried my 3 would be upset for being in their cages for much of the day, but they seem to be fine. They are still just as happy and flying everywhere. Of course when I get home and try to peek at my iPad on the couch before cooking dinner, they all flock around me and I am at that moment filled with love and reminded, they really DO love me. In the mornings, they have come to expect their cage time. I have toy buckets I fill regularly and try to offer them new things a few times a week. So relax, a schedule will fall into place and all will be well. You may find more lovin when you get home from them all!
  3. What a great thread! Thanks Ray, soooooo very interesting!
  4. How precious, and what a wonderful moment that was. They really can read us and love us when we're not looking...in their own way.
  5. Nancy, I say Good for her! She's being a ZON!
  6. Talon

    TAG hates RPO

My birds hate it. So, I don't use it ever.
  7. She is adorable! What a cutie!!!
  8. Wow! I love it!!! She looks like she's giggling.
  9. I mostly use my iPad when home, but my galaxy s3 handles it perfectly. Don't really see a need to have a mobile app, BUT I will pass the request onto the higher ups!
  10. What a wonderful statement. It is very true. I find owning a ZON is nothing like owning a grey, it's a whole different ball game.
  11. You will if d that your birds go in the same spots, so I frequently clean them up, but at night I go thru the house and clean up the places they usually go. you can put something down, but as soon as they fly, the paper goes flying too!
  12. That's a shame......I wasn't aware of that.
  13. Wow, lol. I am so sorry for your poor baby, but what a chuckle I got out of your story. You and hubby have a great senses of humor! I hope your baby gets better real soon!!
  14. Nancy, as the others have said, since you have no history of his weight, perhaps he is just a small, not average size bird. I know Talon is on the small size, but don't worry cause she has always been smaller. My vet says she's very healthy, just tinier than average, but that is normal for her. You may be upset for no reason. If he seems happy and thevet says healthy, the you can relax. I would definitely weigh your birds on a regular basis. I weigh mine monthly, write in on a sticky note, date it and add to it each month to compare. I keep it in them drawer right near my scale. Seems you are doing all the right things, as you would say, trust your instincts..... Also, try some oatmeal, my birds love sharing mine with me every morning, being fed by spoon of course!!
  15. Yes, a home tormentor is exactly what Nilah is...but we love her just the same. She loves to fly, but just as much, she loves to walk around on the floors to see what trouble she can get into. She also loves to run after the dog and chase him off.....I hate that, have to stop that instantly.
  16. As I was eating breakfast with the birds this morning, Nilah want the least bit interested as usual. She was off playing or should I say getting into her usual trouble, chewing up ALL the bananas and pears I bought at the store yesterday, running around on the floor...she was playing in the cat door to the basement, she crawls thru it and wanders around there. My daughter asked, " does anyone's else's amazon go thru cat doors like Nilah, or is she just weird?" Okay, answers please, do they????
  17. Really......what st ate is that? Never heard of that before.
  18. I would DEFINATELY put her food in air tight containers to keep the flour moths away. The smell could just be a combination of all the new things you have. Give it a few days, and it most likely will dissipate . I don't notice much of a smell with my greys, but my amazon is completely different.
  19. Well, my Bird gats mad at me when I get into something Sticky.....I don't even know what "sticky" is????? Nilah
  20. I have an entire thread in the amazon room as my amazon would fight me every night to go to bed. There were many ideas that worked! Check it out!!
  21. I wouldn't use this, not in a million years....it doesn't exactly look safe, too many gadgets, clips, latches, ect to get hung up in. Can you imgie a leg and added to that? My bird would chew themselves free and fight to get it off. If you want to take your bird outside, it s much safer in an adventure pack in my opinion.
  22. My vet did both my birds very easily. It took about 5 seconds. They didnt even know what happened. Cost $7 @ piece. He also gave me the bands back for my records
  23. My grey Talon is the same way. Won't poop in here cage, no way, no how! I have a basket with a loop handle on it, I put 5 lb weights in the bottom and cut up a small puppy pad to lay over the weight. When I get her out of her cage, I then put her onto the potty basket and she will go poop every time! No mess, and I keep three of them on my counter in the kitchen for them to perch on and watch me cook. I wouldn't worry, there will be times when eventually they will go if they have to. Talon will if she is left too long, but she is reluctant...
