  1. So sorry for your sons accident. I am glad he will be okay in time. Yes, you certainly were missed and I really as well as others appreciate the update. Glad to have you back in our family!
  2. I believe Ollie is her dog....
  3. Oh yes Ray, GREAT THREAD! I spend a great deal of time looking into Nilahs eyes to see her moods, how she is feeling, what she wants to do, and especially her love for me. She wears her heart in her eyes. It makes me happy to see the enjoyment in her eyes when she gets excited about something, or is enjoying a tidbit of food. Her excitement when I talk to her, those pinning eyes filled with words!
  4. Aww. You have a very kind heart. Can't wait to meet Peanut!
  5. Hi Lurker, love the pics and look forward to following this journey with you. We are always here to help, so ask away!
  6. Your are such an angel! I am so happy that they are together and now have a chance to recover from such trauma
  7. How adorable! Do you sell them or ? Sorry if that's a dumb question. How many do you have ?
  8. Yes, He wanted to have a "joint" account with his wife & asked for that thread & username to be deleted. He has another account, I am sure will catch up on that topic.
  9. I went thru this with my Rikki, she was always clipped until I got get and allowed her wings yo grow as I don't believe in clipping. I was at a point of considering a small clip, but was fighting it, she loved her new found freedom. I finally in the advice of a friend, put her in a schedule of allowing her out in the aim, then putting her in her cage around lunch time and allowing get the afternoon time for a nap or just chillin in her cage. I then let her out later in the day. She did really well being in a schedule instead of all free time. my Amazon will go after people , so whenever I have visitors, I make certain all my birds are in there cages so there is never an opportunity for a bad reaction from my guests when a bird flies on or near them causing a new habit for them to enjoy
  10. It stayed the same, she LOVED my ex husband and enjoyed sitting with him at night, she then had only me to sit with which she did. But now that Rikki and Nilah are in the pic, they bully her away from me at night time on most nights.
  11. We had Talon for 2 years, she belonged to my oldest son,, then I left my husband with our 3 younger kids and Talon came with me. My oldest stayed behind and let me take Talon as I did most the care of her. the first thing I did was set up her cage in a place where she could watch us move things into our new house. She seemed to like that. She was very attached to my husband, but she did fine without him. I just kept her routine, and made everything sound positive and fun. She didn't seem to show any distress over the situation.
  12. Jeez, do we really have to read our lives in black and white? On the Internet for everyone to see? Lol
  13. Yes, I kept in touch with both of her previous homes, I'd send pics and tell them what new words she could say. The first owner was always so excited to hear from me. I have lost touch with her, her email address doesn't seem to work anymore, but last I knew, she still kept a pic of Rikki on her desk at work.
  14. 7 years ago on this very day....Rikki my cag, came into my home. At the time, I only had Talon, my tag, she was 2 1/2 years old. Rikki was a sweetheart from day one, she stepped right up onto my arm as soon as I opened her travel cage. This was to be her 4th home, her first was a pet store, her second was a middle aged couple who bought her from that pet store & gave her a very good life..I can say that based on her personality, her behavior & her sweetness. That couple had her until the husband became very sick, it was clear to me, (even tho I never met them) that Rikki was very bonded to him. She had a favorite toy & still does....it was empty prescription bottles to chew and take apart. (because of that obsession, I can NEVER leave any out unless they are empty..I save them for her & now put them in her toy bucket) She talked in a man's voice & occasionally answered the phone in a woman's voice. When he passed on, the wife tried to keep her but just didn't have the time for her & felt it was better that she had a family that did. She was sold to another older couple. Rikki has a loud voice & loves to whistle as well loudly. Some of you long-time members may remember how she came to be with me....it was this forum that brought her to my home....I logged on one morning, and saw a post from as new member titled: how to quiet my grey, she was too noisy.....I went red at that and posted kind of a snotty reply about not doing your homework and that's greys aren't quiet, you cant quiet them, its their nature to whistle & be loud many times through-out the day, and that I WOULD TAKE HER IF THEY DIDN'T WANT HER!!........I was pretty mad......well little did I know...in this WORLD-WIDE forum, did they live 2 hours away.....(BTW: they had her 6 weeks only) so after a few pm's...they drove 2 hours to bring Rikki to her forever home. I do know they had become quite attached to her in those short 6 weeks, it was a sad, painful goodbye for them when they had to leave her. Due to the fact that she had so many different homes in her short life of 2 1/2 years...it took her almost 3 years to really settle in here and understand she was staying for good!! She was quite the angry menace in the beginning.... So I am celebrating her 7th year with us with lots of extra attention & treats!! Happy Forever Home day Rikki!!
  15. So very true Ray! I am not a treat teacher either, my treats are affection and cuddles and sharing my time. My spoiled birds get treats as a daily snack in their cages
  16. Talon

    Testing

Yes, I have been fighting that battle with the tech guys on a daily basis.
  17. I forgot to add: she came across the United States from out west to the other side by covered wagon, and has also flown on a jet, so she has seen it all!!
  18. I wanted to share my Grandmother, we call her Mimi. Mimi will be 102 years old Aug. 2. She is extremely healthy, and has the memory & mind that would surpass anyone of us here. Just so alert, and on top of everything. She is a bit tech savvy and can figure things out for herself in whatever she wants to do. I guess I get my independence from her. Her mother & grandmother and great grandmother all lived to be 100 as well....I expect to be around a long time...hopefully!!
  19. I had all my 3 removed . It was a simple clip and the vet gave it to me for safe keeping. They are dangerous, many a bird has chewed their foot off after them getting caught in a toy while their parront was away .
