NO TEFLON IS SAFE!!! As Judy says, and I agree...why would you take the chance and risk your birds life. It can kill them very quickly before you even know it's a problem. 20 minutes....dead.
Research it more, both here and elsewhere, you will see for yourself. It's even dangerous to us humans long term.
I have always used heavy baskets for my birds to perch on. I have found that I have had to put a 5 lb weight inside the basket to keep them from falling over. I then cut up a puppy pad inside them, and that is their potty baskets!
But I would be very careful, as they do tend to chew them, and the handles fall apart at the base. I have had my birds almost 4 years, and I have had to replace the baskets numerous times. Mine just sit on my counter. :silly:
I have some days that I am gone all day and my 2 birds are in their cages all day. And other days when they are out of their cages all day when I am home. It's different every week. They are just as happy and easy going about either one. B) ;)
REMINDER!
If everyone would take the time to write maybe one entry per week, imagine how good it would make a friend of ours feel!
I am going to start today, and try to do one per day.

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2009/08/02 16:44

OMG! I am so happy for you! You will be a greyt mom! You have us here to help with any questions you may have. Just stay calm when you first bring him home. He will sense your anxiety, you will be a wonderful mom, and he will sense that and love you!
Cait, Talon used to love to perch on the ceiling fan blades, but then she started chewing them, so to get her off, I would slowly turn them on hoping she would get scared and fly off, but she LOVED it! So, I would speed it up little by little, guess what....she LOVED GOING FAST!! She loves riding them!! :woohoo:
I am so excited for you! Your posts bring back memories of when I droe to the airport to pick up Talon at 8 1/2 weeks old. SHe flew from FL to MA and was at the airport at 8am, I finally got her at 3:30pm. SHe cried all the way home, but as long as I was talking to her, she kept it to a minimum. I did keep her in her carrier until I got her home. IT was another hour and a half ride to get home.
Please keep up updated on how things go. I can't wait to here more and see pictures!! :)
The wife told the authorities that he used them for fighting. Some of them were blind from having their eyes pecked out, some were injured so badly they had to be put down. There were over 150 birds.
These men deserve to have the same done to them!
I'm not sure who here has seen this article in todays newspaper, but this is HORRIBLE!!

I have the large atom for my 2 birds. One will play in it, the other wants no part of it! I posted a picture here on the forum somewhere...if you want to see it, I'll search for it. B)
WOW! What a happy story! I have been waiting all day to hear this! It's a fairy tale with a happy ending!!
Oh, and I agree..."Rita, YOUR GROUNDED FOREVER!!"
No to this question, as long as they behave. Talon always behaves herself, she has learned. But Rikki is still learning, and if she starts to nibble, off she goes, onto her treestand or the back of the couch.
