  1. I live in MA and have spent many hours searching owners of lost birds. The band only will identify the breeders home state. This bird could have been shipped to its owner from that state. Mine came from another state and was shipped to me. There is no reports of a lost bird in MA, VT, NH, CT that is missing a congo. I have made many phone calls to NJ and NY owners who have lost their birds...but those that have their band info to give me does not have the same info as this found bird.
  2. Great pics Dave! Thanks for tshowing the difference for those of us that hVe never seen that before in such a light.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion, I will pass it on to the forum owners.
  4. Curious as to why you want to know if the bands can be traced. Also, Dave, can't get the links to work.....is it my iPad, or anyone else having trouble?
  5. Ray, you always have a way of making me giggle! ThNks for the laugh!!!!
  6. Nilah my amazon TRIES to rule the roost, but she's no match for Rikki my cag, although, Nilah seems to think she is, and continues to try. Nilah does bully Talon my tag, away at times, but Talon is quick and knows I will find her and let her have what Nilah was trying to keep her away from.
  7. okay, here's another one.......when she puts her head down for her bedtime cuddles and she quietly whines and coos as I pet her and talk softly to her.
  8. Love this thread!!!! I have so many things, cant narrow it down to one, so here goes....... To me, its when Nilah climbs up on me when I'm sitting on the couch, and walks all the way up to my face, and puts the side of her face against mine to cuddle. 2. When she wants to be with me and only me. 3. When I fall asleep for an accidental & occasional nap during the day, and she stays perched on me and wont talk or move. Just guarding me while I sleep. 4. When she wants my one on one attention by being face to face and looks me deep into my soul and with out speaking want my love and undivided attention by talking to her in a loving manner. Jeez, I could go on and on.........
  9. Love this thread! I have a Cag, 5 1/2 years old Tag 5 1/2 years old Yellow Crowned Amazon, 2 Years old 2 Parakeets, 4 years old Bijon Frise, 5 years old Short haired Black Cat 2 1/2 years old 2 Horses, (1 ex race horse, 9 years old) (1 draft pony, 50 + years old) oh yea, almost forgot........4 kids, (3 live with me) Girl, 18 1/2 years old, 16 Year old boy, and 12 year old boy........me......and my boyfriend on the weekends.......yup. that's it!
  10. I agree wholeheartedly!! Let's hear those amazon stories!!
  11. I don't believe the sex matters at all as to who the bird chooses to bond with. THEY chose for their own reasons....
  12. Very nice! I like the travel cage very much. Do you have more perches and toys to add to the cage? I look forward to the day you bring your baby home. Please keep us posted with pics!
  13. One thing you should know, you cant put those 2 greys in the same cage together. They are territorial and require their own "room".
  14. I wouldn't take the chance. I use stainless steel only for cookware. It's more expensive! But worth it for your and your pets health. That's my opinion. I would steer clear of anything that says non stick, it has to use a chemical for that process, one that would emit fumes. My experience is that companies don't really know or care to tell you IF it is toxic to birds.....
  15. Wow! I never would have thought to try Home Depot. I don't care about colors... Thanks!
  16. I was asking because of the AG found in Fitchburg, MA. I live very close to there and haven't been able to find anyone in this state who has lost a bird. So I am looking in surrounding states.
  17. Does anyone have any thoughts as to how far a bird would travel in miles if they were to escape to the out side? I know it depends on the circumstances, time lost, etc., but would it be possible for them to go hundred of miles, or would they?
  18. This is posted on Craigs list also. I hope the owner is found.
  19. Welcome to our family. The pics are great. I look forward to hearing more from you!
  20. thanks got good presents but no cake
  21. Jay, thank you so much for this. There isn't much info out there on Amazons and their diet as far as I have seen. The specifics you gave us are great!! Thank you so much!
  22. YOUNG????? You say? Well if your talking about the 'real' Talon, her birthday is in Oct. And she is young. But if your talking about Bird ( me as Nilah calls me) then I'm 15 backwards.......ugh! But thank you my sweetie for the birthday wish, don't know how you knew......guess a little birdie told you!
  23. Ys, this forum leader team would not be complete with out our precious JAYD, as we recently found out when he was out sick. Glad to have my family back, but the MEMBERS are what makes this place rock!!! Thank you Jayd, Judy, Dan, Dave & Janet for all the time you donate to our family here. Aren't our birds blessed to have such a caring family?
  24. Jay, Thanks for clarifying about the watermelon. I didn't know that, I also didn't know that amazons had a slightly different fruit diet than greys. Mine all get about the same amount. Nilah is fine. It really was just too much watermelon. I'm surprised neither of the vets told me it could be the watermelon. So glad I saved myself a $200 vet bill.
