  1. Thanks for the update Madmandy. I am happy that this grey has a loving mommy...
  2. Yea, I am going to get my camera and bring it downstairs this minute!!!!!! Thanks for the reminders everyone!!!
  3. Heatherstella, I am happy you came back, I have missed having you around, ceasarsdad was just asking me about you the other day, if I ever hear from you....go figure! Your Annabelle sounds like my Rikki! Very moody!!! Never know what to expect....
  4. No, as he is not ingesting it. My cag LOVES to shred magazines up in the corner of the sink and counter in my bathroom whole I am showering. I believe she is making a nest.....
  5. Oh my gosh....my heart breaks for the position you were thrown into. I understand you are doing the best you can. I have never hand fed a baby before, but I understand they need to be fed very carefully by a syringe and much more than 4 hours. You have to be careful not to overfeed and be careful that it does not get I to their lungs. I Dave007 gets here soon, he is your best source of advice here regarding hand feeding. But i wouldn't wait, PLEASE get this baby to an avian vet ASAP! He can help you, time is of the essence here, don't wait, he will die if not fed properly and quickly.... I wont even get into the creep this breeder is......that's for a different time. Your baby is most important right now. PLEASE rush him to a vet and learn how to properly feed and care for his needs at this age.
  6. Yup, my dogs love it too, but one time I got Nilah s tan ding on the edge of it....YUCK!!!!!
  7. The other morning as I was cleaning up the mess of toast all over my kitchen table and kitchen chairs, floor and everywhere from the birds breakfast, I heard Nilah humming away. Well, when she hums, we all know that means she's doing something she shouldn't.........so off I went to look for her. Just as I thought, I found her playing in the cat door to the basement, she climbs up on it, perches on it and sticks her head thru the door and chews the Inside of the door, or climbs in and tries to play in the disgusting litter box...... I saw her head in there, then my newest dog, (10 month old Bichon) would run over to her, sniff her tail, she would then come out, turn around, jump off and chase him down the hall until he disappeared around the corner. She would the run back to the cat door, climb up, stick her head in, and the fun would begin all over again with the dog. This I watched for about 4 or 5 times until I put an end to it. I have to learn to keep my video camera downstairs and easily accessible...
  8. Great topic! Nilah will explore every nook and cranny in my house, but my cag RiKKI will chew every window frame, door and door frame. I call her a termite! My house is destroyed...
  9. I don't think any one has ever studied this in parrots, but just like humans, I believe they can have the same issues we do.
  10. I often wondered the same thing. As you know, I have 3 parrots. Rikki my cag appears to have a mood or personality disorder. she is incredibly moody, can be sweet as can be one minute, then turn on you the next for no apparent reason. Some days she is a miserable grouchy bird, others she is as happy and calm as can be. we never know what the mood of the day will be. I know Some of you probably think it is something in her environment that triggers her moods, but I am very attuned to her day and what goes on. I DO see it appears to be in her brain, not anything. Her day can be very structured and the mood will be calm one day, the next, she is crazy and grouchy. Calm days, are the same, grouchy one day, sweet and calm the next.....
  11. Fruits are high in sugar and should be fed in moderation. Try lessening the amounts over a period of time thus maybe they will start trying other foods. If you allow them to eat with you at mealtime, they are more apt to try new foods that they see you eat.
  12. Welcome to our family! Can't wait to see pics and hear more from you.
  13. Today is Talon's hatchday! Hard to believe ive had her for 6 years! I got her when she was 8 1/2 weeks old, too young, but I didn't have the knowledge I do now. She did well tho, and she is the smartest, sweetest timneh you could ever want. Never gets into trouble like my others. I can leave her out all day and she will just hang out somewhere and behave. As sweet as her personality is, she is a jokester! She loves to play tricks on us and run away and laugh! I gave her special treats and a new toy and of course showering her with love and lots of Happy Birthday songs. She can sing "Happy birthday toooo yoooouuuuuu!". What a sweetheart who has brought us much love, smiles and joy! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DEAR SWEET TALON!!!!
  14. Great news! May I suggest you all allow him to eat with you and off your plate at the dinner table? My greys will always eat what I am eating, that may be the quickest way to get him eating and adding some weight on. Please keep us posted. My grey loves sharing oatmeal with me and being fed by a spoon when I am having it.
  15. Welcome back! I am so happy you have returned to our family! Dont beat yourself up, you had to do what you felt was right at the time. I look forward to hearing more and seeing pics.
  16. One thing I want to add as food for thought........although everyone here seems to be hoping this bird is reunited with it's previous owner, there are times when the bird is better off NOT being returned to it's previous owner. Not all birds are lucky enough to having the loving parents that we are here on this forum. Something to consider....
  17. I vacume the outside filters weekly, rarely wash them. The bulbs and inside filters I do about twice a year. I have one air cleaner in the bird room, the others are in our bedrooms. One of my greys sleeps in my room. I have 3 parrots, and dusting should be done twice a week at my house, but I only have time to do it once a week. I should add that my birds are out of their ages most of the day, in their cages at night and for about 4 hours in the afternoons usually.
  18. I would get him to the vet ASAP. He needs a thorough check up. He could have a respiratory issue if being out in the cold....etc
  19. Val, I could have written your post. I experienced the sam things you did, although I quickly canceled my credit card to prevent him from charging anymore than he already did. You will never receive an invoice, I actually won 2 in his so called drawings....I do like the air cleaners, but i have a lifetime supply of filter and bulbs, don't change them as often as he says you should, not necessary. I mark my phone with his name every time he still calls for the last 5 years and don't take his future calls.
  20. Talon

    Onions?

Don't take the risk, keep them away from your bird. Not every bird can tolerate small amounts....
  21. Sounds like a match made in heaven! Two lost souls who have found comfort in each other.....I am sure you felt this and I hope you two wil reunite soon.
  22. My tag, Talon won't go in her cage. She has a sleep cage, never gone in it no matter how long she is in it. Downstairs she has a daytime cage for when I have to work or go out. She won't go in it either unless I leave her there for the entire day, and even then, rarely. But as soon as I take her out, she will go potty on her potty basket. She will even go potty the very last second on her potty basket before take her up to bed. Don't worry, if they have to go, they will. It won't hurt them to hold it. That shows great control and awareness I think..
