  1. I have 2 greys and one amazon. All are allowed on my shoulder at any time but only as long as they behave! If one tries anything, I spin very fast around, (a trained dancer) and off they go flying.
  2. That is the best photo ever! I want to see how she got herself out!
  3. Thanks Ray, I think I'm going to have to try that, my birds hate baths. They prefer a water bowl when they decide to!
  4. Yay! I'm so happy you are allowing her to have free flight like she was intended. I would almost bet that once she has mastered her flight abilities, and she will, that her plucking will definitely stop! Let us know and keep us posted on how she's learning with her new wings!
  5. That is sooo smart! Mine don't do manual labor either, their best qualities is to rip and destroy!!!
  6. Hi Ray, do you put water in it, or just let them perch on it?

Awww. She's adorable! Love the ladder, did your hubby make that?
  8. Awwww.. That's an adorable story!!! When Nilah hears the door from the garage open, she starts yelling "BIRD!" over and over again waiting to hear if I answer back with a "Hi Nilah!, Hi Birdies!" if I don't say anything, she thinks its someone else, and she stops saying anything. I LOVE that about her, if I leave and don't tell her, my daughter days she flies thru the house yelling, "BIRD!" Love these amazon stories!!!
  9. Yes, I am me of thoses members tat believe bigger is better. It may appear big at first, but once you fill it with toys, perches, boings, corner shelves etc. it actually becomes quite small.

    Twix is sick!

    I'm so very sorry.....
  11. Please search on is forum for the many many threads regarding To clip or not to Clip. There are numerous posts about the subject.
  12. Oh my! That's so tiny, must be adorable. How delicate it must be. Thanks for this info. I love these fun facts you give us!!
  13. Boy do I like the way you think. Your last sentence in your last post is so true, most of us here believe the very same. It is the pets that suffer at people's selfishness for whatever reason.
  14. Welcome to our greyt family Jason. I very much enjoyed your introduction! It was probably the best ever written here. First and for most, I would like to personally Thank you for your service to our country. It is a difficult commitment, but one that takes bravery, and it is such a selfless act. I applaud you and am glad you are back home safe & sound doing what you love! You have come to the right place, We have many members full of expertise and knowledge, not to mention experience. It is great that you are researching first so you know all you are in for. Please feel free to comment, ask questions and join in the fun. You dont need to have a bird to be a contributor. I have a yellow crowned amazon, and would love it if you go to our Amazon Room and share your experience and stories!! I look forward to hearing more from you.
  15. That is perfectly written Ray! Wingy, Thats a riot! So true!
  16. I agree with you Ray, never in a millin years did I ever think of having an amazon, but after Nilah, I can't imagine life without one. There is something they give to us that a grey doesn't. It's a whole different relationship.
  17. As cute as it is, I can't bring myself to watch that video. There are so many things wrong with that...bird way to close to the dog whomhas an internal wild instinct adding birds, allowing that bird to walk on the stove and reaching to a pan sitting on a burner.....yes, it's off and cooled, but that is only teaching a bird that a stove and pan is OKAY. But what about the one time, you blink, your bird flies to it and it's too late. I know how quickly that can happen from experience. Thanks for sharing Judy so this hopefully will be a lesson to all of what NOT to do.
  18. Very pretty pictures, She looks so happy!

    Breeding Greys

There are a few members here that are breeders, but it really is a territory that is expensive, heartbreaking, incredibly difficult, takes devotion and unlimited time, and has very little profit financially.
  20. Very nice perch! Looks great, how does our bird like it? Great job on the sisal rope. I like the hanging net you have, I just bought one, my birds avent tried it yet.
  21. Thisbis a hot topic and there are many threads regarding this question. My answer would be NOm do not clip her. Others will disagree with me. It sounds like she needs help in her landings. Could you keep her in one room, hold her on your arm, and encourage her to fly by dropping or lifting your arm, towards a soft couch, so she can practice her landing. When she flies, try to encourage her to land on something you have made available to her. Do you have playstands, hanging gyms, perches, things around that she can land on? As for following your husband out the door, when I leave, I always listen for the sound of fluttering wings, and if they are coming towards me, I stop, and I allow them to land on me, then I place them on a tree stand and tell them I will be back soon and to stay. Maybe with a few more details, we can help you a bit more.
