While I was in Hawaii I kept seeing these birds. I was never able to get a really good shot of them because I never had my zoom lens on when I did see them.. This day I had the zoom so here goes.. Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? Anyway, using a zoom lens can really make a difference in your photography. The lens that caught this bird is a 70-200mm . This size zoom I consider to be the perfect lense.. Good luck and good shooting.

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/25 21:36 -
Well, Hawaii is behind us now.. It was a GREAT place and I am sure I will be going back one day soon. This will be the last Hawaii photo posting. I want to start with some more shots of Pearl Harbor.. Check out this Navy Man... Finally I found some beaches that I consider to be almost as good as Bermuda.. OK. Maybe better... How would you like to spend the day with your lover in a place like this? How about this setting.. Look at the rocks.. Well, I hoped that you like the little blog I put up for you guys.. I'm in Vegas now and of course I'll have photos.. You guys take care... I'll see you later.

Well, we just got back form an all day tour of Oahu Island. 120 miles and 8 hours later I got some killer photos to share with you. These will be the last set in the Hawaii Blog series as we are leaving Friday for Las Vegas.. Of course there will be Vegas photos but I'll post them in a different Blog.. So let me go over the 270 photos I got today and I will hand pick a few for you.. Thanks again if you were interested in my Hawaii blog.. I appreciate you spending the time reading it..

Hi FairY.. Yeah, I am burned. Even more so today.. Too late for the hat as we are leaving tomorrow.. No, I have not seen any flying tropical birds. I was looking be we didn't spend an lots on time in the rain forests where I think that might have been. Regarding the waves.. Hawaii is famous for 30 footers.. but this is not the season for that.. That season starts in November and runs thru March..

Thank you Talon. From the number of views this thread has gotten I think many members have been following the adventure. This I am happy about. I would hate to go through all this only to find out no one was interested.

All throughout this trip I struggled to bring you photos that say Hawaii.. It's been difficult so far but I think I finally got something where you can see the beauty that is Hawaii.. Today we decided to take a hike. Usually this "tour" is taken by getting on the bus at the hotel and being shuttled to the attraction. We decided to do things a little different.. We decided to WALK all the way from the hotel to the attraction, thru the attraction and then walk back.. Holy cow, I was looking at 10+ miles with 2 of those miles climbing up a mountain.. It's a good thing I am a runner otherwise I would never have had the energy to do this.. So off we went.. The destination, Diamond Head Crater. This is a dormant valcano that blew it's top some 150,000 years ago. You can climb up this now and look out over the beautiful Hawaii.. The climb is not to be taken lightly. These trails are nothing compared to what happens near the top where you have to climb like 12 stories of stairs.. Many couldn't make it that far... The scenes along the path up were pretty nice. But nothing compared to what you get to see if you make it to the top.. You guys are lucky.. Anna and I did the climbing for you.. Here's what you see at the top of Diamond Head Crater.. Enjoy. I wish I had my zoom lense with me as I would have loved to get closer to this lighthouse.. It was a very demanding trip for us.. Of course we could have gotten on the bus and went that way but what the heck.. Where would the challenge be in that. Tomorrow we are takeing a nature tour around the Island. This should be the best photography I can find.. Until then... Take care.. Me. And of course my away from home office..

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/24 07:44

Buck wrote: As requested by a close friend here I will let this "punk" comment go for now.. Rest assured, growing up in the streets of Brooklyn NY taught me many things.. Punk-hood wasn't one of them... And I know the punk reference was leveled at me personally.. So in order not to have this topic turn nasty there will be no further comments by me on this subject..

Once again... and this is the point few really understand.. It's not the database of information that makes this place or any place for that matter "deep" it's the people that come to that place.. You could have the best informational database in the world, what good is it if no one goes to that database? That's the point.. I don't care how deep or shallow this place is.. I like the people and I like the management.. End of story..
-
Buck.. First of all where are you seeing Cheer leading around here. Give me the thread.. I want to see for myself. Secondly, what "depth" will you bring here. Remember what I said. The forum is made up of the membership. Most of those members from the other site are here. That being said I find if difficult that after just one day on this forum you somehow read ALL the threads and came to the conclusion that this forum has no DEPTH... Hey Buck. I'm sorry you cancelled your membership at that other site but you could soon be without a forum.. Perhaps you should start looking around now so WHEN that day comes your Grey will still have support... Get my drift.. Oh, and one more thing.. YOU CAN TAKE THAT TO THE BANK Cheers..

Thank you Talon.. You are always so kind. I appreciate that very much.. Thank you.. B)

FairY. Jersey Girls are tough that's for sure.. I know many of them and they are a special bunch.. Any Jersey Girls on here?
-
Well Judy, of course I understand what you are saying here.. As I said before, when WE... and you know who WE was... were over at that other place that other place was a great forum.. You see, it's not the URL or forum name that makes the place.. It's US... That other place seems to think that the reason people enjoy the place is because of THEM... It's not, and the results speak for themselves. When WE were over there we had lots of exciting threads and interaction. Now that WE are gone what's left over there? The admins and moderators. That's what's left. Do you think they wonder what happened? I do. I tried to warn them in private emails but they wouldn't listen. The bottom line was that guy you reference had a person problem with ME and let his personal feelings RUIN a perfectly good community of friends.. It's a wonder that such smart folks like the two woman that also run things there don't see the forest thru the trees.. I never got a straight answer as to why they had problems with my Members Photography Thread.. I can only wonder what they would have thought about be BLOGING this Hawaii trip.. Do you think they would have allowed that? And why not.. It's a community of folks that have African Greys and LIVES too...

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/23 18:25

Talon, They do this to show affection. It actually means that they are regurgitating their food to "feed" the one they love..

Hi Judy, Yes indeed.. I just can't stop thinking about just how young these MEN were. I never thought I would be affected as much as I was.. Here are a few more shots from last night Each LINK in this chain for the anchor weighs over 100 lbs. God Bless the USA.

The Pearl Harbor trip was very sobering to me. What I saw and heard troubled me deeply yet at the same time made me so very proud of our armed forces. We were there for a company celebration yet after I saw the place I was in no mood to celebrate. Did you know that the total loss of human life was 29,000,000 men and woman. 29 M I L L I O N.. Certainly puts things in prospective for me I can tell you that. I think of that movie "Saving Private Ryan". The beach scene at Normandy.. Can you image the horror in those young MEN's hearts.. The leadership of their commanders that pushed forward knowing they would be cut down by 50 cal machine gun fire.. It makes me want to cry for their souls.. These young 20 something year olds.. Full of life, love, and dreams.. God BLESS these men.. I could hardly write about World War II in a way that hasn't already been discussed. debated, argued, agreed and countless other adjectives.. I will only say this. I can only hope to be as brave as those men were in my hour... I have tried to convey these feeling in these photographs.. I believe I failed. I wasn't up to the task... I am sorry... This is perhaps the photo that gets me emotional. This is a shot I took of a display at the Army Museum. And at night.. It looks like this.. And Finally.. the Arizona Memorial where so many young MEN lost their lives.. I have more photos I will post over the next few days.. I just don't know where to start to tell the story I saw that day.. I'm sorry if I let you down... God Bless the USA

FairY. Thanks for the compliment. It seems to me that my best shots are shots that just appear out of nowhere. I never expected to see that bird where I saw it.. But I did have my camera and I was able to get off two (in focus and properly exposed)shots in the span of just about 5 seconds.. I'm a happy camper.

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/22 22:19 -

That is correct Melissa.. See how the background is blured. This occured because my aperture was 2.8 or wide open. If I used a 8 or 11 aperture you would have been distracted by the background being in focus.. See ya Kiddo.. -
Sorry for the delay everyone. I did do the Pearl Harbor event last night and I will have some photos up shortly.. Sorry for not have my usual post for today...
