TalonSis Photo 2932 has lots of potential. Play with close cropping it to achieve a sort of abstract view of your horse. I'll let you play then I'll try.. See Ya Kiddo. -
Ceasar comes out when we get up in the morning. He goes to his play tree for breakfast. We then take him in the car and go for Starbucks. This is everyday. When we return he gets the Starbuck coffee cup lid to chew up. From this point on it depends if Anna is staying home or going out. If someone is home Ceasar is on his playTree. When I get home Ceasar is out on his playtree all the way up till bedtime. That could be 10 or 11 PM for him. So all in all I would say Ceasar is out of his cage way more then he is in it..

Hi again, How many of you guys exercise daily? What's your routine? I try to run every other day. 2 miles is my usual distance. I was doing really well until the week before christmas.. I can remember this clearly. I was running down a hill listening to Daughtry's It's Not Over on my IPOD when I stepped into a pot hole.. Down like a sac of pototas I went.. You got it.. Badly sprained ankle.. It took me 4 months to get back on the road.. I quess being 48 has it's disadvantages afterall.. Even today... 5 months later I can still feel pain when I run.. Since that sprain I have had a hard time getting back into my routine. What about you guys. What do you do to keep yourself look good?

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/15 02:42

I have been wondering.. You know living in the big cities has its' advantages. It also has lots of disavantages. One of them is the cost of parking tickets. Just last week I ended up getting 3 of those suckers.. OK. Get this, a parking ticket in NYC is.... Ready for this..... $115  Yet another reason why I want out of this place. So I would like to know.. What is the cost of parking tickets in your area. Tell us your state then tell us you ticket price.. Does anyone have me beat?

Talon, What you found out in front of your house I see on the highway all the time. Cops are parking cars on the side of the road and making it look like they have radar traps setup. Sometimes they even have radar on so folks with radar detectors slow down. Pretty good idea if you ask me.

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/15 02:31

Hey there. That's a tough lighting situation but you know what.. You didn't do all that bad with it. I told you your camera is capable to better shots then you were taking with it. Keep it up. Remember to maintain your min focus distance of at least 3 feet.. Keep Posting.. -

TalonSis.. Ah a good question about the sky and the horse.. You see, the problem with photography is that it's a poor substitute for our eyes.. Our eyes can see the brightest bright and the darkest dark with no problems. We automatically adjust for this and everything looks great. With cameras either digital or film, there is only a certain amount of Dynamic range that can be captured. In other words the range between light and dark. With cameras this range is a fraction of what our eyes are. So the camera can't expose for your horse AND the shy. The range of brightness is too much. So what to do about this.. 2 things.. You good with photoshop? You can take 2 shots. One exposed for the horse and the other exposed for the sky. In photoshop you can combine these two shots to make one beautiful shot with your horse and BLUE sky. The other way is to use a graduated Neutral Density Filter. This would filter the light in the top part of the photo so your camera can record a less brite scene. Making sense? If not just ask.. See Ya Kiddo.. -
Hey, come on now.. Where the heck can you go on the entire internet and get your request answered and done in just a day? Thats correct folks YOU CAN'T except here. We requested an OFF TOPIC room and quess what.. HERE IT IS.. Send FairY a PM thanking her... I got something for you to read FairY. What i'd give to run my fingers through your hair Touch your lips, to hold you near When you say your prayers try to understand I've made mistakes, i'm just a man When he holds you close, when he pulls you near When he says the words you've been needing to hear I'll wish i was him, but these words are mine To say to you till the end of time Bon Jovi

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/14 20:06

When you use "bounced" flash you now start to see a much better lighting of your subject. This is a photo of Ceaser with "bounce flashed" Now notice the shadows in his feathers. Notice how the overall look is much more smoother and with more dimensions. I think you will agree. Bounce flash is a much more pleasing photograph. What I would like you to try, at least those of you with DSLR's with external flash, is to take photos with bounce flash vs direct. Post your finding here. This is this weeks assignment.. Have at it.. Discover the differences for yourself. Those of you with built in flash you can't do this unless you can get an external flash.

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/14 19:15 -

There has been lots of talk about flash photography lately. I wanted to touch on a few tips you can use to improve upon your flash photography. I have to do this across two posts because I have 2 photos I want you to look at. Flash comes in two flavors. Bounced and Direct. Point and shoot cameras and camera with pop up flash restrict your ability when it comes to useing flash. Let me explain. when you have a pop up flash or built in flash you can't redirect that flash. So in effect you have DIRECT flash.. Not the best technique. You always want to use BOUNCE flash. To do this you need an external flash that goes on top of your camera and gives you the ability to "bounce" the flash off the ceiling. Here is an example of Direct flash.... While most would think this looks OK. It really is very flat. Ceasar's feathers look one dimensional with no real shadows to smooth out the composition.. Also notice the nasty shadow on the right. Now of course that can be cloned out but that's not the point. Continue in next post.. Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/14 19:09

Post edited by: CeasarsDad, at: 2007/05/14 19:10 -

Look back on my Bon Jovi photos and remember they were taken with a point and shoot.. Why not post a photo and see if we can help you improve upon what you already have. Right Everyone...? -
Welcome to the club Beccy. I think you are gonna love the people here. I know I do. We all know how you feel when you say you are in love.. It's something isn't it...

EXCELLENT.. Have you read the book written by Irene Pepperburg called "The Alex Studies" Tough reading but filled with interesting stuff about Grey's ability to learn.

One more.. Talking about birds and photography. This was a shot I took from my dirty kitchen window one morning. I grabbed my Nikon with a 200mm zoom and got this capture. It's a beautiful Bluejay.. Enjoy. -

I told the story of a baby European Starling I saved from a cold death on a sidewalk. We raised that bird up and she became a wonderful addition to our family. I'll tell the story here too one day but before I do I want you to say hello to Hercules.. It's rare for a European Starling to be raised inside a human home.. Take a look at how peaceful this bird is.. -
Cool beans.. OK, lets think up a few OFF TOPIC threads and have at it. Can you think of any thing you want to chat about?
